The dim light of dawn, filtering through the thick smoke, illuminated the eerie, forbidding headquarters of the mysterious organization. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen had fought bloody battles, their wounds still seeping blood. Their clothes, already tattered and soaked with sweat and blood, clung to their skin. But at this moment, their eyes, like blazing flames, fixed on the culprit before them—Gu Manqi's brother, codenamed "Shadow."
"Shadow" was clad in a black robe, his figure tall and straight, his face covered by an exquisite silver mask, revealing only a pair of sinister, cold eyes. He stood with his hands behind his back, surrounded by a group of well-trained and well-equipped guards. Each of these guards had a cold look in their eyes, their weapons flashing with cold light. They surrounded him like an impenetrable steel defense.
Jiang Zhi hunched slightly, her right hand tightly gripping the dagger. The blade gleamed coldly in the dim light, stained with the enemy's blood. Her left hand quietly reached for her waist, where she kept several simple, homemade concealed weapons, ready for use. Sweat trickled down her cheek, dripping onto the dusty ground, sending up tiny specks of dust. Her gaze, sharp as a torch, locked onto Shadow's every move, her mind secretly calculating her attack strategy. Every breath stung with the sting of her wound, but with her unwavering willpower, she channeled the pain into strength, sustaining herself in a fighting stance.
Shen Qingchen stood beside Jiang Zhi, feet apart, firmly planted on the ground, like a resolute god of war. His fists were clenched, knuckles white from exertion, and stained with the blood of his enemies. His upper body clothing had been ripped in several places by the sharp blade, revealing his toned muscles, the lines of which became more pronounced under tension, as if they contained endless explosive power. He narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze revealing determination and anger, staring at "Shadow" intently, as if to see through and crush him.
For a moment, the air was filled with a suffocating tension. Neither side took the initiative to attack, but just confronted each other quietly. Only the breeze rustling the corners of clothes and the occasional faint groans of the wounded broke the silence.
Suddenly, Shadow let out a deep, hoarse laugh that echoed through the empty space, revealing an indescribable strangeness and arrogance. "Hmph, I didn't expect you to find this place. However, today is your burial place!" His voice seemed to come from the depths of hell, icy and chilling, making people shudder.
Jiang Zhi snorted coldly and responded fearlessly: "You have committed many evil deeds. Today is the day you die! Avenge Tang Junxi, Shen Qingchen's father, and the countless people you have harmed!" Her voice was firm and powerful. Although a little tired, it still resounded like a bell, full of long-suppressed hatred and anger.
Shen Qingchen said nothing, but took a step forward. His aura suddenly rose, like a cheetah about to pounce on its prey, emitting a dangerous aura. This step, like a war drum declaring war, broke the last of the calm, and the battle was about to break out.
Shadow's eyes grew cold, and with a gentle wave of his hand, the guards behind him surged forward like a tide. Their movements were perfectly coordinated, their coordination seamless, evidently a testament to their extensive training. Wielding their long swords and short spears, they charged towards Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, their blades flashing and their shadows etched with murderous intent.
Seeing this, Jiang Zhi dodged with a ghostly swiftness, dodging the foremost guard's fierce blow. Her movements were light and agile, like the fluttering of a butterfly, yet packed with deadly force. In the instant she dove sideways, she swung the dagger in her hand, a flash of cold light, slicing the guard's throat with pinpoint accuracy. The guard's eyes widened, and before he could even utter a scream, he collapsed to the ground, blood gushing out, staining the ground red.
After dispatching one, Jiang Zhi didn't pause. She knew she was in dire straits and needed to act swiftly. She tapped the ground with her toes, leveraging the momentum to leap upwards, like a soaring eagle, towards the next guard. In mid-air, she twisted her wrist, and the dagger traced a graceful arc through the air, piercing the guard's heart. The guard raised his weapon in fear, but Jiang Zhi's speed and attack were too fierce. With a thud, the dagger pierced his chest, and his body instantly collapsed.
Meanwhile, Shen Qingchen was also caught up in a fierce battle. He faced the onrushing guards without flinching, unleashing a powerful punch that whirred like a cannonball as it slammed into the foremost enemy. The guard hurriedly raised his arm to block, only to feel a surge of force that instantly numb his arm and sent him flying, knocking down several of his companions behind him.
Shen Qingchen seized the opportunity and charged into the enemy horde. His nimble form allowed him to maneuver and evade the enemy's attacks, countering them with fierce punches and kicks. Every punch and kick carried immense force, sending foes screaming and falling wherever they struck. His gaze remained cold and focused, watching for the enemy's weaknesses, not allowing them even the slightest chance to breathe.
However, the enemies kept coming. Although Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen fought hard, their wounds kept increasing and their strength was rapidly depleted. Jiang Zhi felt her arms gradually become heavy, and each swing of the dagger became more and more difficult. The wound on her thigh was even more painful, causing her movements to slow down. Shen Qingchen was not much better. His back was cut by the enemy's sharp blade, and blood soaked his clothes. His breathing became rapid, but he still gritted his teeth and persisted, fighting tenaciously with the enemy.
Shadow stood aside, watching all this with a cold expression on his face, as if the life-and-death struggle before him was just a boring farce. From time to time, he sneered, as if mocking Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen's presumptuousness.
