Chapter 818 Jiang Yao ● Ending

As news of the mysterious organization's demise swept through like a storm, Jiang Yao huddled alone in her luxurious yet cold apartment. The lights were dim, and the extravagant decor now exuded a gloomy atmosphere, as if every ornament silently mocked her downfall. She clutched her phone tightly, the dim light from the screen illuminating her pale, distorted face, her eyes filled with disbelief and despair.

Once upon a time, Jiang Yao was a woman filled with dreams. Despite her humble origins, she yearned to carve out a niche for herself in this bustling city. By chance, she first met Shen Qingchen at a banquet. In that moment, his cool yet handsome demeanor shone like a ray of light into her gloomy world. The confidence and dignity he radiated in every gesture captivated Jiang Yao. From then on, her world was dominated by a single obsession: to possess Shen Qingchen.

But fate played a cruel trick on Shen Qingchen. From the beginning to the end, Shen Qingchen's eyes were always focused on Jiang Zhi. Jiang Yao watched them go out together, watched Jiang Zhi easily possess everything she had ever dreamed of—love, status, a happy family. The flames of jealousy burned fiercely within her, day after day, searing her heart to the point of being riddled with wounds. This jealousy, like a demon, gradually devoured her sanity and awakened the tyrannical nature hidden deep within her.

To destroy Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen's relationship, she resorted to any means necessary. She spied on their lives, fabricated slander about Jiang Zhi in front of Shen Qingchen, and found a twisted pleasure in watching her provocations create a rift between them. She also set numerous obstacles in Jiang Zhi's work, hoping to cause her to collapse in the face of adversity and lose all her glory, thus making Shen Qingchen completely disappointed in her.

However, each of her schemes was thwarted by Jiang Zhi's wisdom and tenacity. Jiang Zhi was like an impassable wall, unshaken no matter how she tried. As the mysterious organization surfaced, Jiang Yao, driven by her own selfish desires, even colluded with this evil group. She naively believed that by leveraging the organization's power, she could overcome all obstacles and claim Shen Qingchen as her own.

But she never imagined the mysterious organization's demise would be so swift and complete. When the news reached her, her world collapsed. Those members of the mysterious organization she had once called her brothers and sisters vanished into thin air. Her calls went unanswered, her texts fell on deaf ears. She tried to contact the insider who had provided her with intelligence and helped her plot, but found they had already been blocked, as if she had always been an insignificant pawn, now the game was decided and she was discarded like a worn-out shoe.

Jiang Yao felt an unprecedented loneliness and fear. She looked around, the empty apartment now a prison. Once blinded by jealousy and greed, she had alienated all those who truly cared about her. Now, when disaster struck, no one was willing to lend a hand. Her family, disowned by her for her misdeeds, had disowned her, leaving her completely alone.

Outside the window, the city was still ablaze with lights and bustling with traffic, but this prosperity had nothing to do with her. She thought of her once innocent self, and regret filled her heart. If only she hadn't been blinded by jealousy, if only she had faced her own mediocrity and strived to pursue her own happiness instead of trying to steal everything from others, perhaps her life would have been different.

But now, it was too late. She knew her sins were unforgivable, and neither Jiang Zhi nor Shen Qingchen would let her off easily. Legal sanctions might be waiting for her soon. After all, her collusion with the mysterious organization had led to countless shameful activities. Once public opinion became aware of her actions, she would become a target of public scorn, and she would not even have the chance to survive in this city.

Amidst this endless despair, Jiang Yao's spirit gradually collapsed. She began to hallucinate, as if seeing those she had hurt standing before her, glaring at her, demanding her life. Jiang Zhi's determined and fearless eyes, Shen Qingchen's cold, disgusted gaze, and the tragic scene of the mysterious organization's demise flashed through her mind like a revolving lantern.

The cold night wind whistled against the windows, a mournful melody played just for her. Jiang Yao trembled as she stood up and walked unsteadily to the balcony. She pushed open the balcony door, and the cold wind instantly rushed through her collar, causing her to shiver. She looked down at the ants-like pedestrians and the endless stream of cars below, and a sudden sense of relief welled up in her heart.

"Perhaps, this is my only way out..." she murmured to herself, her voice carried away by the wind.

Jiang Yao climbed up the balcony railing, gripping the cold bars tightly with both hands, her nails turning white from the strain. She looked down at the abyss below, feeling no fear, only endless exhaustion and regret. At that moment, she recalled the warm embrace of her parents as a child, the carefree days she had spent with her friends. Those beautiful memories now became the sharpest blades that pierced her heart.

"Mom and Dad, I'm sorry... I was wrong..." Jiang Yao burst into tears and cried softly to the night sky.

Finally, she released her grip, letting her body plummet towards the ground like a falling star. In those brief seconds, her life flashed before her eyes like a movie, from her innocent childhood to her jealously-corrupted adulthood, and finally to her current, hopeless end. With a dull thud, Jiang Yao's life was abruptly ended, her blood spilling onto the ground like a flower of evil blooming in the darkness.

Meanwhile, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen were immersed in the joy of victory and the warmth of a family reunion, unaware of Jiang Yao's tragedy. A few days later, when the news arrived, they were overwhelmed with mixed emotions. Jiang Zhi gazed into the distance, a complex flicker of emotion in his eyes: pity for Jiang Yao, yet also relief that everything was finally over. Shen Qingchen sighed softly and embraced Jiang Zhi and the children, as if to use this warmth to dispel any gloom.
