Chapter 859 Good Memories

Night, like a vast sheet of black silk, gently draped the courtyard where Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen lived. Within the courtyard, moonlight shone like water, filtering through the mottled leaves to cast a silvery glow across the ground, like a dreamy speck of silver. A gentle breeze rustled through, bringing with it bursts of rich floral fragrance. It was the fragrance of the various flowers in the courtyard, whispering stories of the past.

Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen sat together on a stone bench in the courtyard. The bench was cold, but it couldn't match the heat of the emotions surging in their hearts. Their eyes met in the moonlight and then looked off into the distance, as if that gaze could travel through time and space, tracing back to the past.

"Qingchen, do you still remember the scene of our first meeting?" Jiang Zhi was the first to break the silence. Her voice was soft, with a faint smile, like a breeze blowing through the strings of a piano, creating ripples in the silent night.

Shen Qingchen tilted his head slightly and stared at Jiang Zhi's profile. The moonlight outlined a soft and beautiful outline for her, like a dream. The corners of his mouth unconsciously raised, his eyes full of doting and affection: "How could I forget that day on the streets of a bustling city, the crowds surged like a tide, and my eyes were instantly attracted to you. You were like a beam of light, penetrating the hustle and bustle, shining straight into my heart."

A glint flickered in Jiang Zhi's eyes, and her thoughts drifted back to that sunny day. Back then, obsessed with revenge, she traversed the city streets, searching for clues to Tang Junxi's murder, almost oblivious to her surroundings. Yet, fate inadvertently brought them together. A chance encounter on the street caused Shen Qingchen's documents to fall to the ground. Jiang Zhi instinctively squatted to help pick them up. The moment their eyes met, time seemed to freeze. Shen Qingchen's deep eyes reflected her slightly cold yet resolute expression, and at that moment, a strange feeling quietly spread between them.

"Yes, I was full of hatred at that time, and I never thought that I would meet you in such a situation. And you, like an uninvited guest, broke into my originally gloomy world." Jiang Zhi sighed softly, with a hint of ridicule in his words, and full of gratitude for the arrangement of fate.

Shen Qingchen gently held Jiang Zhi's hand. His palm was broad and warm, and he wrapped Jiang Zhi's hand tightly in it, as if to pass on endless strength to her: "Perhaps this is the wonder of fate. From the first time I saw you, I knew that you were different from everyone I had met before. There was a stubbornness and tenacity in your eyes that made me want to get closer and want to know the story behind you."

Jiang Zhi nodded slightly, the smile on his lips becoming more and more obvious: "But I didn't appreciate your pursuit at first. I was only thinking about revenge for Junxi, and I felt that love would only become a hindrance to me."

Shen Qingchen chuckled softly, and the laughter echoed in the night, dispelling some of the night's coldness: "How could I not know. But I just can't control my heart. The more you refuse, the more I want to melt the ice in your heart. Those days of sending flowers, writing love letters, and creating romantic encounters, now thinking about it, are also incomparably precious memories."

Jiang Zhi's cheeks flushed slightly, as if stained by the moonlight. She remembered how Shen Qingchen had silently waited at her door after a busy day, presenting her with a bouquet of gorgeous roses, the fragrance of which instantly dispelled her fatigue; and how those love letters filled with affection, each word like the warm spring sun, warmed her frozen heart bit by bit; and how those seemingly accidental encounters were actually carefully planned by Shen Qingchen, just to spend more time with her.

"In fact, slowly, I also got used to your presence, used to your warm company when I was tired, used to listening to your firm encouragement when I was confused. However, the flame of hatred is still burning in my heart, which makes me dare not take that step easily." Jiang Zhi's eyes revealed a hint of complex emotions, with both regrets for the difficult choices in the past and touching feelings for Shen Qingchen's persistence.

Shen Qingchen gently embraced Jiang Zhi in his arms, rested his chin on the top of her head, and said softly: "I understand, your hatred is also your motivation to move forward. I am willing to accompany you to face it together, and wait together for the day when you let go of your knot."

Jiang Zhi leaned in Shen Qingchen's arms, feeling his strong heartbeat, as if it was the most stable rhythm in the world. Her thoughts continued to drift, recalling the short but extremely sweet time they had spent together after their marriage.

"Do you remember when we first got married? Back then, we strolled in the park together, holding hands and admiring the beauty of the sunset. The afterglow of the setting sun stretched our figures long, as if to freeze our happiness at that moment forever." Jiang Zhi's voice was full of nostalgia, and tears of happiness flashed in his eyes.

Shen Qingchen smiled as he recalled those beautiful moments: "How could I not remember when we cooked together at home? You were clumsy in cutting vegetables and almost cut your finger. I was so scared that I quickly grabbed the knife. In the end, the kitchen was a mess, but we laughed so hard that we fell over. Although the meal was simple, it was extremely satisfying."

Jiang Zhi gently hit Shen Qingchen's chest and scolded: "You are still talking about me, you are not much better, you can even fry an egg."

The two smiled at each other, their laughter echoing in the courtyard, dispelling the silence of the night. Those ordinary days they once spent together have now become the most precious treasure in their hearts, every detail shining brightly.

However, happy times are always short-lived. Jiang Yao's appearance was like a haze that instantly enveloped their lives.

"Everything changed after Jiang Yao showed up." Jiang Zhi's smile faded, and a hint of pain and helplessness appeared in her eyes. "Her jealousy and paranoia have plunged us into endless pain and strife."
