The little girl clung tightly to the corner of Jiang Zhi's clothes and said in a baby voice, "Mom, I'm scared. There were so many noises just now." Jiang Zhi picked up her daughter, placed her on his lap, and rocked her gently, coaxing her softly, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. Those bad noises are gone. They won't come back. Mom and Dad will protect you, forever and ever."
The family embraced each other tightly, bathing in the afterglow of the setting sun, a scene of tranquil beauty. In that moment, all the suffering, pain, and separation transformed into the preciousness and happiness of this reunion. Their love, tempered by the flames of war, grew stronger and more indestructible, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, blooming with even greater splendor. And this warmth and reunion within their family, like a brilliant pearl, gleaming brightly in their weathered hearts, became the source of their continued strength.
Jiang Zhi gently stroked the children's faces, secretly vowing in her heart that no matter how many storms there were in the future, she would use all her strength to protect this hard-earned happiness. Shen Qingchen seemed to understand her thoughts and reached out to hold Jiang Zhi's hand. The two smiled at each other, and that smile was full of expectations and determination for the future.
The sun gradually set in the west, dyeing the horizon a brilliant, colorful sunset glow, like a dream. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen held the children's hands and slowly walked towards the camp. Along the way, the children chattered and shared interesting stories from their time waiting behind, their laughter echoing in the quiet wilderness as the night deepened.
Back at camp, their allies had thoughtfully prepared a simple yet cozy home for them. Jiang Zhi walked the child inside, and seeing the simple yet neat furnishings, a warm feeling welled up in her heart. She gently set the child down and began making their bed, her movements gentle and expert. Shen Qingchen stood by, watching the scene quietly, her eyes filled with happiness and satisfaction.
"Children, you're tired today, go to bed early." Jiang Zhi said softly, with a mother's unique tenderness in her voice. The children climbed onto the bed and got into the quilt, but their big eyes were still rolling around, looking at their parents. The little daughter stretched out her little hand and pulled the corner of Jiang Zhi's clothes: "Mom, you sleep with me." Jiang Zhi smiled and nodded, lying down next to the child. Shen Qingchen also lay down on the other side, holding his wife and children tightly in his arms.
The flickering candlelight in the house illuminated the warm figures of the family. Jiang Zhi hummed a lullaby softly, and the familiar melody, like gentle waves, slowly soothed the children's hearts. Soon, the children fell into a deep sleep. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, however, were not sleepy at all. They stared at each other quietly, enjoying this moment of tranquility and warmth.
"Qingchen, this journey has been really difficult." Jiang Zhi broke the silence softly, tears flashing in her eyes. Shen Qingchen reached out and gently wiped away her tears: "Yes, but fortunately we all survived, and it will only get better in the future." His voice was firm and powerful, giving Jiang Zhi a reassurance.
Jiang Zhi nodded slightly and leaned on Shen Qingchen’s shoulder: “We must protect this family well and let the children grow up happily.” Shen Qingchen tightened his arms and hugged Jiang Zhi tighter: “Of course, this is our common responsibility and the driving force of our struggle.”
The moonlight was like water, pouring into the house through the window, covering this warm scene with a layer of silver gauze. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen lay in each other's arms, looking forward to a better life in the future. Gradually, sleepiness came over them, and they slowly fell asleep, with a faint smile of happiness on their lips.
The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight gently streamed into the house, Jiang Zhi slowly awoke. She rose gently, afraid to wake her family who were still sound asleep. Looking at the peaceful faces of Shen Qingchen and the children beside her, her heart was filled with sweetness. She quietly left the room to prepare breakfast for everyone.
In the camp, the allies were already busy. Seeing Jiang Zhi coming out, they all cast concerned glances at her. "Miss Jiang, did you get a good night's sleep last night?" an older ally asked. Jiang Zhi smiled and nodded. "Thank you for your concern, I slept well." With that, she rolled up her sleeves and joined the team preparing breakfast.
Soon, a simple but steaming hot breakfast was ready. Jiang Zhi returned to the room with the food and gently woke up Shen Qingchen and the children: "Get up, it's time for breakfast." When the children heard that there was food, they immediately jumped out of bed and cheered. Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi's busy figure, his heart full of love. He got up to help take care of the children's washing, and the family sat together and began to enjoy this warm breakfast time.
After breakfast, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen led the children out of the camp, preparing to return. Along the way, the children were filled with curiosity about everything around them, asking questions non-stop. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen patiently answered their questions, their eyes filled with fondness.
When they returned to their familiar city, looking at the busy streets and bustling crowds, they felt as if they were in another world. This city, which once carried so much pain and memories, would now become the starting point for their new lives.
Jiang Zhi turned to look at Shen Qingchen and the children, his eyes full of determination: "Let's go home." Shen Qingchen smiled and nodded, holding the children's hands, and walked towards home with Jiang Zhi. The sunlight shone on them, lengthening their figures, as if foreshadowing that their future path would be full of light and hope.
Back home, Jiang Zhi looked at everything familiar, her eyes slightly moist. Every corner here was filled with their memories. Although the memories were bitter and sweet, at this moment, they all became the most precious treasure in her heart. Shen Qingchen walked forward and gently hugged Jiang Zhi: "From now on, this will be our harbor of happiness."
