Chapter 923 The First Free Clinic Tour Begins

As the dawn breaks and the sky turns pale, the city still slumbers, but the hospital compound is already bustling with activity. Trucks loaded with medical supplies are neatly lined up, their bodies gleaming with hope in the dim light. Each truck is meticulously inspected and repeatedly checked by staff to ensure the completeness of supplies and equipment. These supplies are the culmination of months of meticulous preparation by my daughter and her team. From common medicines to advanced medical equipment, from simple stretchers to sophisticated testing instruments, each one carries the care and responsibility they have for patients in remote areas.

My daughter led the charge, weaving between vehicles. Clad in a pristine white doctor's coat, she stood tall, yet fatigue was evident. Her eyes were bloodshot, a testament to the tireless work she had put into preparing for the free clinic. But now, her gaze shone with determination and anticipation. She clutched the free clinic schedule and preliminary medical records of local patients, whispering to her assistants to double-check that everything was in order.

"Everyone, check again! We're about to leave. We have to make sure everything is perfect. This free clinic is so important for patients in remote areas!" the daughter shouted to the team members, her voice louder and louder. Her voice was clear and powerful, echoing in the empty courtyard, dispelling any drowsiness from the group. Everyone quickened their pace, responding to her call.

With the roar of engines, the convoy slowly rolled out of the hospital gates, like a giant white dragon, heading off into the distance. Sitting in the lead car, the daughter gazed out the window at the ever-changing scenery along the way. The city's skyscrapers gradually faded behind her, replaced by rolling hills, vast fields, and a patchwork of villages. But she had no time to admire the idyllic scenery. Her heart was filled with anxiety about reaching her destination. The faces of patients in impoverished areas, longing for health, kept recurring in her mind, and she secretly resolved to do everything in her power to help them.

The journey was far more arduous than expected. The winding mountain road twisted like a giant dragon, with steep cliffs on one side and towering stone walls on the other. The vehicle moved cautiously, and every turn felt like a thrilling adventure. The vehicle jolted violently, forcing the team members inside to hold on to the handles tightly to prevent falling. Despite this, no one complained. Instead, their eyes grew more determined, and they encouraged each other, knowing that a more important mission awaited them.

After a long journey, the convoy finally arrived at its first stop—a remote mountain town. Nestled deep in the mountains, surrounded by hills, the town resembled a paradise. However, due to its poor transportation and extremely scarce medical resources, it had become a forgotten corner of modern medicine. The convoy's arrival caused a small stir, and villagers streamed out of their homes, their eyes filled with curiosity and anticipation.

Ignoring their fatigue from the journey, my daughter and her team members quickly set to work as soon as they disembarked. They first arrived at the town's health center, where the scene was heartbreaking: shabby buildings, outdated equipment, and the plight of a shortage of medical care and medicine were starkly apparent. The center's courtyard was already packed with waiting patients, men and women, young and old, some sick, some supporting their loved ones, their eyes filled with a desire for health and trust in the visiting doctors.

"Don't worry, everyone! We'll start examining and treating you right away!" The daughter reassured the patients loudly in the local dialect. The familiar accent resonated with the villagers, calming their anxiety. She quickly organized the team members, dividing the work according to their expertise, and set up a temporary treatment area. Some team members handled the transportation of medical equipment, carefully unloading instruments from vehicles and placing them in various corners of the health center. Others busied themselves with organizing medicines, neatly arranging boxes and bottles by category for easy access. Others set up the consultation desk, arranging tables and chairs, and posting signage. Everything proceeded smoothly and methodically.

Soon, the temporary treatment area was set up, and the free clinic officially began. From simple colds and fevers to complex chronic illnesses, my daughter and her team patiently interviewed and meticulously examined patients, paying close attention to every detail. They understood that for these patients, who have long lacked effective medical care, every diagnosis and treatment recommendation could be life-changing.

An elderly man suffering from severe arthritis, supported by his family, trembled as he approached the consultation desk. He was hunched over, his hands swollen and deformed, and every step was a struggle. Seeing this, his daughter quickly stood up, helped him sit down, and gently asked, "Uncle, how long have you been suffering from this?" The man raised his wrinkled face, his eyes filled with helplessness and pain. "My dear, it's been years. The roads in the mountains are difficult to walk on, and it's hard to go out to see a doctor. I've been putting it off, and it hurts so much!" The daughter's eyes welled up slightly as she gently held the man's hand, carefully examined his joints, and inquired about his daily symptoms and medication. She then decided to perform acupuncture treatment herself.

The daughter took out a sterilized silver needle and skillfully inserted it into the man's acupuncture points. As she applied the needles, she patiently explained the principles and effects of acupuncture and reassured him, "Don't worry, uncle! This will help clear your meridians and relieve the pain. You'll feel better soon." The man was initially nervous, but gradually relaxed under his daughter's gentle words and expert manipulation. During the treatment, the daughter monitored the man's reactions and adjusted her technique accordingly. After the treatment, the man stretched his joints and expressed surprise, "My dear, this is amazing! I feel much better now. Thank you!" The daughter smiled and advised, "Uncle, this is only temporary relief. You must keep warm and exercise regularly. I've prescribed some medicine for you. Take it on time. If you feel any discomfort, please come to us anytime." She then handed the written prescription to the man's family and explained in detail the medication instructions and precautions.
