Chapter 967 A Couple’s Romantic Trip

The hectic workday finally came to an end, and Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, like two birds freed from their cages, joyfully embarked on this long-awaited romantic journey. They cast aside the hustle and bustle of the world and headed for the dreamlike seaside town.

As the plane slowly touched down at the nearest airport to the town, the fresh air, with a hint of the sea's scent, eagerly rushed into their nostrils, as if warmly welcoming them. Jiang Zhi took a deep breath, a smile of relief and anticipation spreading across her face. She turned to look at Shen Qingchen beside her, their eyes meeting with tenderness. Shen Qingchen took her hand and gently squeezed it, as if silently reaffirming the sweet promise that this trip belonged only to the two of them.

As they exited the airport, a long-awaited vintage convertible came into view. Painted a refreshing light blue, it contrasted beautifully with the clear sky. Jiang Zhi covered her mouth in surprise, her eyes twinkling like a child. Shen Qingchen smiled, handed the luggage to the driver, and helped Jiang Zhi into the backseat. The sea breeze whipped through her hair along the way, and Jiang Zhi closed her eyes, savoring the moment's comfort. Along the roadside were rolling sand dunes, and occasionally, a few clusters of tenacious wildflowers swayed gracefully in the wind.

Soon, the long-desired seaside town appeared before my eyes. Its narrow, winding streets were lined with colorful houses, their walls covered in verdant vines and dotted with small, unidentified flowers. The streetside shops were a dazzling array of goods: bakeries emitting enticing aromas, their windows filled with freshly baked baguettes and sweet croissants; and grocery stores overflowing with handicrafts, including delicate shell necklaces and handwoven hanging baskets, each piece revealing the town's unique charm.

The car stopped in front of a guesthouse called "Tide Inn." It was a two-story wooden structure, its exterior retaining its original, rustic charm. Wind chimes hung at the doorway chimed sweetly in the sea breeze. The landlady, a gracious, middle-aged woman, greeted them with a gentle smile and enthusiastically helped them carry their luggage to the room. The room was warm and elegant, with a few white silk roses scattered across the light blue sheets. A comfortable rattan chair sat in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, offering a panoramic view of the endless sea.

Jiang Zhi walked to the window, looked at the sparkling sea in the distance, and couldn't help stretching. She sighed, "I haven't been so relaxed for a long time. Qingchen, I really want to thank you this time for arranging all this carefully." Shen Qingchen gently hugged her from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head, and said gently, "Silly, this is what we deserve. Over the years, we have paid too much for our family and our children. Now, I just hope that time will go slower so that I can accompany you well."

In the afternoon, the sun was a little scorching, but it did not dampen the couple's enthusiasm for the trip. Hand in hand, they strolled on the beach, the fine sand like soft powder, sliding slowly between their toes. Waves surged onto the beach one after another, then gently retreated, leaving behind strings of glittering foam. Shen Qingchen suddenly stopped, bent down, picked up a small shell, wiped it clean with the palm of his hand, handed it to Jiang Zhi, and said with a smile: "Look, this shell is so beautiful, just like you." Jiang Zhi's cheeks flushed slightly, and she glanced at him angrily, but still carefully took the shell and put it in the small bag she was carrying.

After walking along the coastline for a long time, they came to a sparsely populated rocky beach. The reefs have different shapes, some are like eagles spreading their wings to fly, and some are like giant beasts lying in meditation. Jiang Zhi excitedly shuttled between the reefs, looking for small crabs hiding in the crevices. Shen Qingchen watched her from the side, his eyes full of doting. Suddenly, Jiang Zhi slipped and almost fell. Shen Qingchen was quick-eyed and quick-handed. He stepped forward and held her steadily. Their bodies were instantly so close that their breathing was audible. Jiang Zhi raised her head and met Shen Qingchen's fiery gaze. She was a little flustered for a moment. She turned her head slightly, coughed lightly and said, "I almost fell, but fortunately I had you." Shen Qingchen did not let go of her hand. Instead, he hugged her tighter and said in a low voice, "I will always be by your side and protect you."

Before they knew it, the sun had set, tinting the horizon a brilliant orange-red, like a stunning oil painting. They returned to the center of town and found an open-air restaurant. The restaurant was surrounded by flowers, and each table was lit with a candle that emitted a faint lemon scent. The waiter handed over the menu, and Shen Qingchen carefully selected dishes for Jiang Zhi. They ordered the local famous seafood platter, a juicy steak, and a bottle of vintage red wine.

While waiting for the dishes to be served, Jiang Zhi held up her chin and looked at Shen Qingchen, saying softly, "Qingchen, do you remember when we first met? At that time, I was full of hatred and indifferent to everything around me. Unexpectedly, I was finally melted by your passionate heart." Shen Qingchen held her hand, his eyes full of memories, "Of course I remember. The first time I saw you, I knew that you were the person I could never let go of in my life. Even if you rejected me again and again, I never thought of giving up." As he was speaking, the dishes were served one after another. The lobster, crab, and oysters in the seafood platter exuded an enticing aroma, the steak was sizzling with oil, and the colors of the side dishes were matched just right.

Chen Qingchen poured red wine for Jiang Zhi, raised his glass, and said solemnly: "Zhi'er, this glass is to toast the ups and downs we have gone through together. May every day in the future be as beautiful as today." Jiang Zhi's eyes flashed with tears. She clinked the glass with him gently and drank it all in one gulp. The wine slid down her throat, and a slightly tipsy feeling surged into her heart, making her cheeks even redder.
