Chapter 984: Mediation of Conflicts within the Family

The faint light of dawn had just filtered through the carved window lattices of the Jiang family villa, casting a shadow over the still quiet living room. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen were already sitting opposite each other, their faces solemn. Before them lay documents detailing the family business's recent operating data and feedback from various parties. The documents, whether implicit or explicit, all pointed to a thorny problem: internal family conflict.

In recent years, the family business has been expanding rapidly, aggressively exploring new markets and diversifying its business. This should be cause for celebration, but beneath the prosperity lies a turbulent undercurrent. Some family members have gradually developed divergent views on the crucial issue of the business's direction, a chasm that has quietly opened up and, over time, has become increasingly difficult to bridge.

In yesterday's routine high-level meeting, the atmosphere was oppressive, like a sweltering afternoon before a storm. Family members sat on either side of the long, oval conference table, their seemingly calm faces shimmering with thoughts. A senior cousin broke the silence first. He slammed his pen down on the table with a sharp, abrupt thud. "I oppose further investment in emerging technologies! Our Jiang family has been honed in traditional industries for generations, and we have a strong foundation. This is the foundation of our existence. If we rashly divert funds to pursue intangible, high-risk technologies, if they fail, all our accumulated wealth will be wasted!"

Before he finished speaking, Jiang Zhi's cousin Jiang Yu, a representative of the younger generation sitting opposite him, raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Uncle, your ideas are so outdated! What era are we in now? Technology leads the trend. If we don't keep up, we will be eliminated by the market. Look at those industry leaders. Which one didn't invest in technology research and development early on to seize the initiative? If you continue to cling to traditional businesses, your profit margins will only become narrower and narrower. By then, let alone development, even survival will be a problem!"

For a moment, the conference room erupted in a chaotic cacophony of accusations and arguments. Some echoed the uncle, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of experience and tradition, advocating for consolidating existing strengths and proceeding steadily. Others, supporting Jiang Yu, extolled the urgency of innovation and reform, urging bold forays into emerging fields and embracing the unknown. Each side clung to their own views, refusing to yield, their tempers and rhetoric growing increasingly heated, even digging up past scores and grudges, completely disregarding family ties and the overall interests of the company.

Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen sat at the head of the conference table, brows furrowed throughout, silently listening to the arguments. They knew this conflict was a long-standing one, but they'd been so busy with external expansion that they'd neglected internal communication. Now, a critical moment had arrived, and it was imperative to resolve it. Once everyone's emotions had calmed down a bit, Jiang Zhi coughed lightly, stood up, and slowly scanned everyone present. The conference room suddenly quieted down a bit.

"Everyone, calm down. I understand your concerns and thoughts. We're all in this together, and every decision the family makes affects the vital interests of all of us." Jiang Zhi's voice was steady and resolute, carrying a soothing power. "But arguing won't solve the problem. Since we're sitting around this table, we're all doing this for the good of the Jiang family. Now, why not lay out your reasons and concerns and make them clear?"

Shen Qingchen nodded slightly and took over the conversation: "That's right, our Jiang Group can achieve today's glory because of unity. The emerging technology field is indeed full of challenges, but the opportunities are equally huge; traditional industry is our foundation, and naturally it cannot be easily shaken. How to balance the two and find a path that best suits the development of the family is the key at the moment."

Under the guidance of Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, the atmosphere of the meeting gradually shifted from tense to rational discussion. His uncle, his face flushed, elaborated on the competitive pressures and stable returns faced by traditional businesses. He pointed out that while emerging technologies appear promising, they require huge upfront investments and long payback cycles. If the funding chain breaks, the consequences will be disastrous. Jiang Yu, on the other hand, calmed down and, using detailed data and case studies, analyzed the feasibility and potential benefits of technology-enabled traditional industries, as well as the risks of missing out on the technological boom.

Other family members also spoke. Some raised concerns about talent reserves, worrying about a lack of specialized talent to support their forays into new areas; others focused on market fluctuations, worrying about the varying impacts of the macroeconomic environment on different businesses. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen listened attentively, jotting down key points in their notebooks and occasionally interjecting key questions to encourage deeper reflection.

The meeting lasted the entire morning. Although no complete consensus was reached immediately, at least all parties had fully exchanged their ideas and had some emotional outlet. After the meeting, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen exchanged a glance, realizing that resolving the issue couldn't be achieved overnight. They needed to deeply understand the needs of each key member and find a balance of interests.

Over the next few days, Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen embarked on a difficult "ice-breaking journey." They met with the family members with whom they had conflicts, either in the company's private meeting room or in the warm tea room at home, and listened to their inner voices with sincerity.

When Jiang Zhi met with his uncle, he deliberately chose the garden of the old house. Under the warm spring sun, blossoms bloomed, and a gentle breeze carried wafts of fragrance. The familiar and cozy environment relaxed his uncle's frayed nerves. Jiang Zhi personally brewed a cup of his favorite Longjing tea for him, and the aroma of the tea lingered in the air.

"Uncle, I know you've been working tirelessly for our family and have devoted your time and energy to upholding our traditional business," Jiang Zhi said softly, his eyes filled with respect. "I've kept in mind all the risks you mentioned yesterday. In truth, we've never considered abandoning our roots. We simply hope to leverage technology to inject new vitality into our traditional industries and achieve a second wave of growth."
