Night fell like a vast sheet of black satin, gently enveloping the entire Jiang Manor. The lights within the manor twinkled like stars in the night sky, adding a touch of warmth and a touch of everyday life to this tranquil place. Jiang Zhi, dressed in a plain long dress, like a lotus quietly blooming in the night, slowly emerged from the manor and headed towards the lake deep within the manor.
Moonlight poured down like water, pouring down without reservation, coating the path she walked on with a layer of silvery frost. Willow trees by the lake swayed gently, their slender branches swaying softly in the breeze, like gentle arms of nature reaching out, caressing the tranquil surface of the lake. The lake surface, like a giant mirror, reflected the stars, the bright moon, and the scenery on the shore. It was a dreamlike scene, as if another mysterious and beautiful world lay hidden beneath the water.
Jiang Zhi came to the lake and paused. A gentle breeze ruffled her hair, sending strands dancing playfully around her cheeks. Her gaze fixed on the lake, but her thoughts drifted away, like a kite with a broken string, drifting freely through the long river of the past.
The image of Tang Junxi first entered her mind. It was the purest companionship and warmth of their youth. They ran and played together on the country roads, their laughter filling every inch of the ground; they sheltered from the rain under the simple eaves, sharing their innermost secrets; they yearned for the future together, their eyes gleaming with an infinite longing for life. However, fate, like a cruel executioner, ruthlessly cut short this beautiful moment. The image of Tang Junxi lying in a pool of blood on that dark day was like a brand, deeply engraved in her mind. The thought of it still sends a sharp pain through her heart. In that moment, her world collapsed, and the seeds of hatred took root in the ruins, driving her on a path of revenge.
Soon after, every detail of Shen Qingchen's life began to trickle in. When they first met, his star-like, captivating eyes, seemingly filled with endless stories, instantly captured Jiang Zhi's attention. Amid the hustle and bustle of the city, his passionate and persistent pursuit, like an ever-burning flame, gradually melted the ice of hatred in Jiang Zhi's heart. On those mornings when he delivered flowers, each delicate and alluring blossom carried his deep affection; on those evenings when he wrote love letters, each page filled with love spoke of his attachment; and on those carefully crafted romantic encounters, Jiang Zhi felt the long-lost sweetness and heartbeat amidst her busy and painful life.
However, happy moments are always fleeting, like a fleeting flower. Jiang Yao's appearance was like a sudden storm, shattering all hope. Every moment of Shen Qingchen's desperate actions, forced to protect her, was like a sharp blade, slicing at her heart. Jiang Yao's harassment and persecution plunged her life into endless hardship. The numerous obstacles at work were like insurmountable ravines; the malicious provocations in life were like thorns that pricked every inch of her skin. But Jiang Zhi never gave in. With her tenacious will, superb medical skills, and shrewd agility, she fought back time and again from desperate situations, finding a ray of light in the darkness.
Jiang Zhi's eyes gradually moistened, tears glistening in the moonlight. These memories, sweet or painful, were indelible marks on her life. Like pieces of a puzzle, they pieced together the strong, mature woman she is today.
She slowly crouched down, her fingers gently touching the cold pebbles by the lake. These stones, polished by time, were round and smooth, as if carrying their own stories. Jiang Zhi picked one up and held it tightly in her palm, feeling its warmth and, as if, recalling the ups and downs of her past life.
After a long pause, she stood up, raised her arm slightly, and gently dropped the stone into the lake. The stone hit the water with a crisp "plop," shattering the stillness of the night. Ripples formed on the surface of the lake, spreading outward in circles, like the rings of time, stretching outward, or like her inner emotions, gradually calming down. Each ripple rippled with memories of the past, and now she chose to watch them slowly dissipate.
Jiang Zhi took a deep breath, the fresh night air rushing into her lungs, gradually calming her mood. She knew that carrying the pain of the past would only make her more exhausted, like carrying a heavy yoke, making her walk difficult. The dead are gone, and the living are like this. If Tang Junxi were still alive, he would surely hope that she could let go of her hatred and live a good life. She and Shen Qingchen had gone through hardships and finally waited for the clouds to clear and the moon to shine. She should not let the haze of the past obscure the sunshine of the future.
In the lakeside grass, the chirping of insects echoed like a grand concert, playing the melody of life in this tranquil night. Jiang Zhi tilted her head slightly upward, gazing at the starry, boundless night sky. In this vast universe, the suffering she had experienced was but a drop in the ocean. At this moment, the love and happiness she possessed were the most precious treasures.
She whispered softly, "Let the past be the past. I will carry your love with me and protect everything in the present." Her words drifted away on the wind, blending into the night. Jiang Zhi turned and walked towards the manor house with light but firm steps. The moonlight stretched her shadow long, as if accompanying her on this journey of release.
The lights were bright in the mansion. Shen Qingchen was sitting on the sofa in the living room, flipping through a book casually, but his eyes kept drifting towards the door, full of worry and concern. Ever since Jiang Zhi left alone, his heart had been hanging in the air. He knew the pain she was carrying in her heart and wanted to give her some space to be alone, but he was also afraid that she would be immersed in sadness and unable to extricate herself.
