Chapter 9: The Aroma of Pu'er Tea

After confirming their relationship, Shen Qingci and Gu Yanchen's way of getting along became more natural and sweet.

Gu Yanchen would often help out at the teahouse in his spare time. He was a quick learner, initially clumsily sweeping the floor and wiping the tables, but eventually he could even brew basic teas for customers. The teahouse's regular patrons gradually came to accept this "future son-in-law," often teasing them and making them blush and flutter.

Shen Qingci would occasionally drop off lunch at Gu Yanchen's company, and seeing him so focused and diligent at work filled her heart with pride. They would go to the movies together, browse bookstores, or simply sit quietly together in a teahouse after closing time, drinking tea and chatting, enjoying their quiet time.

That night, after the teahouse closed, Shen Qingci was packing up the tea sets when Gu Yanchen hugged her from behind.

"Are you tired?" His chin rested on the top of her head, his voice low and gentle.

"A little bit." Shen Qingci turned around and leaned in his arms, "But I'm very happy."

Gu Yanchen bent down and kissed her forehead: "I will take you somewhere tomorrow."

"Where?" Shen Qingci asked curiously.

"Keep it secret." Gu Yanchen smiled mysteriously. "You'll know tomorrow."

The next afternoon, Gu Yanchen drove Shen Qingci to a private tea warehouse located on the outskirts of the city.

The tea warehouse is large, with rows of tea cakes neatly arranged inside, mostly Pu'er tea. The air is filled with a rich, unique aged aroma that is refreshing and delightful.

"This is a private tea warehouse owned by a friend of mine. It has a collection of Pu'er tea from a long time ago." Gu Yanchen took Shen Qingci's hand and introduced them as they walked. "I know you are very interested in tea, so I'll bring you here to have a look."

Shen Qingci looked at the dazzling array of Pu'er tea cakes in front of him, his eyes filled with surprise: "Wow, so much Pu'er tea! I've only seen so much in books."

The owner of the tea warehouse was an amiable old man. Seeing Gu Yanchen and Shen Qingci coming, he received them very warmly. He introduced the characteristics of Pu'er tea of different years and origins to them and took out several treasured old teas for them to taste.

The old man first brewed them a ten-year-old raw Pu'er tea. The tea was golden yellow and clear. It had a slightly bitter taste at first, but quickly became sweet, with a lingering aftertaste and a long aftertaste.

Next, I brewed a 20-year-old ripe Pu'er tea. The tea soup is deep red, like red wine. It has a rich, mellow aroma and a smooth, mellow taste, without the bitterness of raw Pu'er tea, but with a warmth and richness.

Shen Qingci savored the tea carefully, feeling the unique charm of Pu'er tea. She found that Pu'er tea, like life, can only emit the most charming aroma and possess the richest connotation after the precipitation and fermentation of time.

"How is it? Do you like it?" Gu Yanchen looked at her with gentle eyes.

"I like it." Shen Qingci nodded. "Pu'er tea is really special. It gets better with age."

"Yes." Gu Yanchen held her hand. "It's the same with feelings. It takes time to settle and cultivate them before they become deeper and deeper."

Shen Qingci looked at Gu Yanchen, her heart filled with emotion. She knew that Gu Yanchen was expressing to her how serious and cherished he was about this relationship.

When they left the tea warehouse, the old man gave them a five-year-old Pu'er tea cake as a gift.

On the way back, Shen Qingci leaned back in her chair, looking at the scenery outside the window, her heart warmed. She felt very lucky to have met Gu Yanchen and to have such a sweet and sincere relationship.

After returning to the teahouse, Shen Qingci carefully put the Pu'er tea cake away. She decided that when they got married, she would take out the tea cake and share this happiness that belonged to them, as mellow and sweet as Pu'er tea, with their friends and family.

And the relationship between her and Gu Yanchen, like this Pu'er tea, gradually becomes deeper and richer with the baptism of time.
