Chaotic daily life and the young lady's wedding
The shadow of the Shi Lei incident was temporarily put aside, and life at Prince Yi's mansion was once again filled with Zhao Jingyi's "troublemaking" and Qin Yuti's "suppression," making it extremely lively.
That day, Zhao Jingyi somehow acquired a pure white Persian cat with bright blue eyes and presented it to Qin Yuti like a treasure: "Wife, look! How cute this little thing is! Just like you, it looks aloof, but its claws are actually quite fierce!" He had clearly forgotten how badly Qin Yuti had "taught" him before.
Qin Yuti had little resistance to furry little animals. Just as she was about to reach out and pet it, the cat, perhaps frightened by Zhao Jingyi's loud and boisterous manner, scratched the back of his hand that was trying to stroke it.
"Ouch!" Zhao Jingyi winced in pain and pulled his hand back, revealing several red marks on the back of his hand.
Seeing this, Qin Yuti immediately took his hand with heartache to check it, and scolded him, "Slow down! You're so clumsy, you scared it!" After saying that, she carefully comforted the frightened cat, her tone so gentle it could melt your heart.
Seeing that his princess was treating a cat more gently than him, Zhao Jingyi was immediately consumed by jealousy. He pointed at the cat indignantly and said, "Hey! You ungrateful little thing! I brought you back so you could please the princess, not to compete with me for my favor!"
Qin Yuti rolled her eyes at him: "Why are you arguing with a cat?" She carefully handed the cat over to the maid to take care of it, and then found some ointment to apply to Zhao Jingyi.
While enjoying the princess's rare personal service, Zhao Jingyi said sarcastically, "It scratched me, and you're still protecting it! I don't care, if it scratches me, you have to kiss me ten times as compensation!"
Qin Yuti pressed hard, applying the ointment to the wound, causing Zhao Jingyi to grimace in pain.
"Compensation?" Qin Yuti sneered. "I think you're itching for a beating again, wanting to copy the Book of Rites, huh?"
Upon hearing the title "The Book of Rites," Zhao Jingyi immediately wilted and muttered, "If you don't want to kiss, then don't kiss. Why scare people with this book again..." But looking at Qin Yuti's profile so close to his and smelling the faint scent of books on her, he felt a surge of joy and thought that being scratched by a cat was worth it.
Amidst this chaotic daily life, the Qin family welcomed another joyous occasion—the wedding of the eldest daughter, Qin Shuhua, and the fifth prince, Prince Yi, Zhao Jinglan, was about to take place.
Prince Yi, Zhao Jinglan, possessed a resolute and decisive character, yet he and the gentle and graceful Qin Shuhua created a strange harmony. Although the wedding was not as grand and celebrated as the Crown Prince's wedding, it was still a very solemn and magnificent affair.
As the younger sister and sister-in-law, Qin Yuti returned to the Qin residence early to help out. Zhao Jingyi naturally followed along, ostensibly to "not embarrass the Princess," but in reality, he was trying his best to play the role of a "model son-in-law" and "caring brother-in-law" in front of everyone in the Qin household. He won over his parents-in-law and the soon-to-be-married Qin Shuhua with praise, which made Qin Yuti both annoyed and amused.
On their wedding day, Prince Yi and his wife attended in their finest attire. Watching her elder sister, adorned in her phoenix coronet and embroidered robes, being steadily led by Prince Yi to the bridal sedan chair amidst the tears and blessings of their parents, Qin Yuti was filled with emotion. She recalled her own dramatic wedding, and looking at the man beside her, though somewhat unreliable, who held her hand tightly, a gentle smile crept onto her lips.
Zhao Jingyi seemed to sense her emotions, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "What? Are you envious? How about... I give you an even more magnificent wedding procession?"
Qin Yuti pinched him lightly and whispered, "Stop talking nonsense and focus on the ceremony."
At the wedding banquet, Zhao Jingyi remained lively, but he maintained a perfect balance, ensuring the atmosphere was neither too quiet nor overly noisy. He even managed to sneak a smug raise of his eyebrows at Prince Rui, Zhao Jingming, who occasionally glanced at him, causing Zhao Jingming to turn away in annoyance. Su Wanqing, sitting beside Prince Rui, maintained her impeccable demeanor, though a subtle hint of envy and melancholy would occasionally flicker across her gaze when it fell upon the newlyweds.
On the carriage back to the Prince's mansion, Qin Yuti, exhausted from a long day, leaned against the carriage wall and closed her eyes to rest. Zhao Jingyi, unusually quiet, sat beside her and gently pulled her head onto his shoulder.
"Take a nap if you're tired, I'll wake you when we get there." His voice was unusually gentle.
Qin Yuti didn't open her eyes, only letting out a soft "hmm" as she adjusted to a more comfortable position. The carriage was quiet, save for the rumble of the wheels. Zhao Jingyi looked down at his wife's peaceful sleeping face, his heart filled with a feeling of contentment.
He suddenly realized that these days of bickering and joking, yet relying on each other, were truly wonderful.
Now that her older sister is married, this "frenemy" couple will continue to live their own little lives.
As for the Persian cat that almost caused a "battle for favor"?
Well, considering those blue eyes and my wife's fondness for it, I'll reluctantly allow it to have a place in the palace!
The carriage headed towards Prince Yi's residence. The warmth inside the carriage contrasted with the hustle and bustle outside, creating a vivid picture of their ordinary yet unique life. And the future was still long.
