Wedding Night: The "War" at Prince Yi's Mansion and the "Ice and Snow" at Prince Rui's Mansion

Wedding Night: The "War" at Prince Yi's Mansion and the "Ice and Snow" at Prince Rui's Mansion

On the Qixi Festival, the two kings held a grand wedding, an unprecedented spectacle.

The bustling atmosphere of Prince Yi's residence contrasted sharply with the solemnity of Prince Rui's. Zhao Jingyi wanted the whole world to know that he had married the talented woman who had embarrassed him, so he made an extravagant display of wealth and noise until late at night. In contrast, everything at Prince Rui's residence proceeded in an orderly fashion, with impeccable etiquette but a distant politeness.

Inside the new room of Prince Yi's Mansion.

The bright red wedding candles crackled, casting a warm glow in the room. The veil was lifted, revealing Qin Yuti's aloof and stunning face. She didn't even glance at Zhao Jingyi, and took off the heavy phoenix crown herself, beginning to dismantle the elaborate headdress.

Zhao Jingyi, who had been holding back a whole host of words to intimidate her, felt his anger flare up again when she ignored him. He dismissed the servants, put his hands on his hips, and tried to look fierce: "Qin Yuti! Now you know whose territory this is, right? After the wedding ceremony, you're mine! Let's see how you talk back then!"

Qin Yuti kept moving her hands, not even bothering to lift her eyelids, and simply said, "If Your Highness has nothing else to say, you should rest early. You must go to the palace to express your gratitude tomorrow." Her tone was as calm as if she were dismissing a noisy child.

Zhao Jingyi felt like he'd punched cotton, and his frustration only intensified. He remembered his vow to "hit her eight times a day," and looking at the icy yet breathtakingly beautiful face before him, he couldn't bring himself to actually hit her, but he had to teach her a "lesson"!

Thus, the "war" on their wedding night began in a way that Zhao Jingyi had created in his own unique way.

What he called "beating" was actually pestering Qin Yuti to consummate their marriage, and he was incredibly energetic, almost as if he wanted to fulfill part of his vow of "eight times a day" on their wedding night. From dusk till midnight, Qin Yuti initially endured the discomfort and shame, but in the end she was completely exhausted, feeling like her body was falling apart.

When Zhao Jingyi tried to get closer again, Qin Yuti's pent-up anger and strength finally erupted. She used all her strength to kick the unsuspecting Zhao Jingyi off the bed!

With a muffled thud, Zhao Jingyi let out a cry of pain.

"Zhao Jingyi! Are you ever going to stop?!" Qin Yuti sat up, clutching the blanket, her long hair disheveled, her cheeks flushed with anger, her eyes no longer displaying their usual coldness, but instead filled with a sharp, provoked glint. "You call this a lesson? This is... this is utterly shameless!"

Zhao Jingyi sat naked on the ground, rubbing his sore bottom. He looked up at the woman on the bed who looked like a cat with its fur standing on end. He was both in pain and surprised, and couldn't help but blurt out, "Hiss... Before I married you, everyone said you were a well-educated, gentle, and talented woman! How come... how come you're like a tigress now?!"

These words only fueled the fire.

Qin Yuti was so angry that she grabbed the pillow next to her and threw it at him: "Gentle and mild? That's for reasonable people! Do you need to be gentle with someone like you who is only unreasonable and whose head is full of filthy thoughts? You dare to touch me again!"

Zhao Jingyi caught the pillow, looking at his newlywed wife's furrowed brows and wide-open eyes. He should have been angry, but strangely, he felt… she was far more lively and interesting than that cold, aloof scholar. But he refused to admit defeat, grumbling as he got up: "Hmph! I won't stoop to your level! Go to sleep!"

Meanwhile, in the Prince Rui's mansion, the bridal chamber was as desolate as the moonlight in late autumn.

The red candles burned brightly, yet they couldn't dispel the chill in the room. The bridal veil was lifted, and Su Wanqing, eyes lowered, performed a perfect curtsy. Prince Rui, Zhao Jingming, said gently, "Your Highness has worked hard," his tone polite but distant.

After the nuptial wine, the atmosphere became even more awkward. Zhao Jingming looked at Su Wanqing's bright yet sorrowful profile in the candlelight. Her features, which bore some resemblance to Qin Yuti, now only felt jarring and filled him with guilt. He had no intention of lingering there, much less performing the marital ceremony with this "substitute" at this moment.

"Your Highness must be tired today, please rest early. I... still have some official business to attend to, so I will stay in the study tonight." He found an impeccable excuse and practically fled the bridal chamber.

Su Wanqing listened quietly to his footsteps as he left. Only after the door closed did she slowly raise her head, her eyes brimming with tears, yet she stubbornly refused to let them fall. Looking at the glaring red filling the room, a bitter smile curled at the corners of her lips.

That night, the "battle" in Prince Yi's bridal chamber had just ended, and the two sworn enemies completed their "wedding night" in a peculiar way. Meanwhile, Prince Rui's bridal chamber was shrouded in cold silence from the very first night, foreshadowing that this marriage was destined to take a different path from the very beginning.
