Chapter 1: Returning to the Homeland
In early spring in February, the frozen soil has just thawed, tender buds are about to sprout, and the spring chill is still severe.
“Wow——”
A basin of cold water was poured down.
The bone-chilling coldness was like an invisible giant hand, suddenly pulling back the hazy thoughts that were about to fall into eternal silence.
"It seems like he's really out of breath..."
"What bad luck! Usually the dosage is this high, why did it kill her? I've already received the sixty taels of silver as a deposit, where can I find another one tonight?"
“Bang!”
Feeling a stinging pain on her cheek, the girl, who was thrown into the corner, soaking wet with her eyes closed, frowned slightly.
"Well, this little bitch is really pretending to be dead!"
Someone grabbed her messy hair and the girl instinctively opened her eyes, only to be greeted by the hideous face of a middle-aged man covered in sun spots.
"If you're not dead, get up now!"
The pain of her hair being pulled and the obviously unfavorable situation in front of her left the girl no time to think about anything else. Her body's instincts moved faster than her thoughts, and she subconsciously used the force she gained when she stood up to suddenly raise her hand and grab the man's forearm. While bending it back with force, her right leg kicked heavily at the man's body.
Quick in action.
But the strength is far from enough.
The only victory was that the man was completely unprepared and had never expected that she would fight back, and that her moves were so fast—
Taking advantage of the brief moment when she got rid of the man's grip, the girl realized something was wrong with her body and quickly glanced around. She took a step back and kicked lightly with her left toe. A dagger on the pile of sacks beside her flew up and was caught steadily in her hand, holding it horizontally in front of her body.
"...You son of a bitch, you are so bold!"
The man was shocked and angry.
This little girl was obviously timid and cowardly. She just cried and begged him to forgive her and let her go home all the way. If he took out a dagger, she would be so scared that she would not be able to say a word - such a little waste actually dared to point a dagger at him!
The woman behind the man was also startled and very annoyed at the girl's "disobedience". She cursed and walked to the man, only then could she see the girl's true appearance.
The person was brought back by a man. He was in a state of coma when he was taken out of the sack. Although it can be seen that he has a good skin, he is lifeless.
At this moment, one could see that the girl's clothes were soaked and her black hair was half disheveled. After days of shaking and being frightened, her face was pale but she looked even more beautiful than an ordinary person.
Especially those eyes, clear and cold, with pupils dark and deep, as if there is some mysterious thing hidden beneath the surface of a lake in winter, making people dare not look directly at it.
At this moment, the woman had only one feeling - this face... would be worth a hundred taels of silver!
Then he felt extremely lucky that he was not dead! Otherwise, the hundred taels would have been wasted!
Seeing that the girl's hand holding the dagger was shaking, the fearless woman smiled sarcastically: "Anyone who comes here and doesn't know what's good for him will have a bad ending. Young lady, I advise you not to ask for trouble!"
The woman's voice was sharp and threatening, and it sounded particularly noisy to the girl's ears.
The next moment, a wooden stool flew out from beside the girl's feet and hit the knee of the woman who was walking towards her.
The woman screamed in pain, her knees went weak, and she fell to the ground.
"This little bitch!" The man was so angry that he didn't care about anything else and swung the wooden stick at hand.
However, the girl was even faster and attacked him faster, pouncing on him like a little wolf. She used all her strength to knock him to the ground and knelt on one leg to press down on his neck.
No matter how strong the man was, he was unable to get up because his vitals were suppressed. He subconsciously reached out to pull the girl away, but his palm was suddenly pierced by the dagger in the girl's hand and nailed to the ground.
The woman reacted, sat up and was about to step forward, only to see the girl quickly pull out a bloody dagger. The dagger flew like an arrow, as if it had eyes, and pierced her eye socket.
"ah!"
The woman screamed and howled in pain, covering her bleeding eyes and falling to the ground.
The man, whose neck was suppressed for too long, suffocated and his eyes rolled back, and he passed out.
The girl, who had almost exhausted all her strength, let go of the man, turned aside, sat on the ground, picked up the cloth bag that had fallen beside the man, and looked outside the door.
Outside the door of the not-so-big main room, stood a stunned boy.
"Is this your father?" The girl asked, her voice was weak and clear, but the tone was flat and without fluctuations.
The boy, who was about eleven or twelve years old, took a look at the man who had fainted beside her and shook his head hurriedly, with confusion and fear in his eyes almost overflowing.
"You useless thing, why don't you tie her up quickly! Go and get a doctor for us! Go and get a doctor!" the woman with bleeding eyes screamed.
The boy looked confused and shaky.
The girl looked at him: "Want to fight me?"
The girl's words made the boy make up his mind. His expression stopped wavering, but he shook his head faster.
"Is there anyone else?" The girl looked past him and towards the small yard filled with coffins.
Although it was daytime, the gate to the courtyard was bolted from the inside.
The boy shook his head again.
"I tie you up, or you tie them up." The girl said simply and clearly, giving him two choices.
Seeing her stand up, the boy didn't dare to delay. He hurried forward to take the hemp rope and tied up the unconscious man first.
"You are such a heartless person! I will beat you to death!"
The woman cursed angrily, covered her eyes with one hand trembling in pain, and grabbed the wooden stick beside her with the other hand.
The boy flinched instinctively.
"Shut her up." The girl threw the cloth bag in her hand over.
The boy obviously knew what was in it, and he bravely stepped forward and threw it at the woman.
The woman's eyes turned blood red. She was so panicked that she was completely unprepared. After taking a few sips of the drug, she fell to the ground powerlessly.
After the boy tied up the woman, he considerately dragged the two people to a corner where they would not be in the way.
After doing all this, he quietly raised his eyes and found the girl's back in front of the coffee table.
She is...
Eat roast chicken? The boy looked at the bones left by the half roast chicken that she had quickly finished with some astonishment.
The girl picked up a cotton towel beside her and wiped her hands.
She had not felt hungry.
But she was too weak at the moment, and her body's instinct told her to eat in order to restore her strength.
She turned around, looked around the room, and walked out of the hall.
There were several newly made coffins in the yard. She picked one that she liked, stepped on the bench beside her, entered the coffin, and lay down.
Well, it suits her body perfectly.
The girl closed her eyes contentedly.
I just never thought that after death, there would be so many troubles after death.
In the end, she had to put the coffin in by herself, without even a decent ghost messenger. Everything depended on her own consciousness. Fortunately, she always had strong self-management ability - but the rules of the underworld were somewhat perfunctory to the ghosts.
The boy who witnessed the bizarre process of her lying in the coffin: "..."
The overwhelming feeling of fatigue quickly overwhelmed the girl in the coffin, causing her to fall into a deep sleep.
When I opened my eyes again, I saw the sky full of sunset glow and it was already dusk.
The girl in the coffin slowly sat up, looked at everything in front of her, and fell into deep thought.
After a good sleep, my physical strength was restored, my awareness of every part of my body became clearer, and my mind gradually became clearer.
This is not an afterlife hallucination.
But she was clearly dead, the kind that couldn't be seen anymore.
She subconsciously raised her hand and reached for her neck, but there was no wound there.
"How could this be..."
The voice is not your own.
She held out her hands in the twilight and looked around.
Although these hands have scars, they are too delicate and fragile, and they are not hers.
The girl slowly stood up, and stood in the coffin facing the dusk, looking at everything real around her.
There is an old tree in the corner, with a few scattered peach blossoms in bloom.
It’s spring.
And she died in a heavy snow in December.
When she died, she was looking towards her hometown.
And now——
It seemed like she was really back.
The girl withdrew her gaze and looked at the strange hands again.
So... is she resurrected from behind? Before the girl could think about anything else, she turned her head back cautiously when she heard footsteps behind her.
Previously, I had only regarded everything in front of me as an unrealistic illusion of the afterlife, and responded instinctively without further investigation, but now it was different——
Still the same boy.
He was now standing timidly at the foot of the stone steps, looking at her with a strange gaze, as if she were something that did not belong to this world - although that was indeed the case.
"Do you recognize me?" the girl asked.
The boy shook his head without even thinking about it.
Not getting an answer, the girl left the coffin and jumped down on the bench.
Seeing her turn and walk towards the gate, the boy struggled for a moment, then quickly chased after her, stretched out his hand to stop her, and shook his head with a disapproving look in his eyes.
"No...you can't go!" he said anxiously.
"So you're not dumb."
"No, no..." The boy looked complicated and anxious: "You can't leave!"
The girl said expressionlessly: "I don't like hitting children."
"...No!" The boy pointed at the tightly closed wooden door and lowered his voice, his big eyes full of anxiety: "Outside... it's all there!"
"All of them—" The girl looked at him: "What?"
I calculated that today is a good day to start a new book (it happens to be my birthday today)!
It’s time to write my favorite long story about rebirth!
The overall style is still relaxed. Let’s start a “hahahaha” journey together again~ I hope everyone will leave more messages during the new book period. It would be even better if you have tickets (づ ̄3 ̄)づLove you!
