Chapter 116 I'm leaving

When Song Yan arrived at the Song family's vegetable storage area, he found only two cabbages inside.

Logically speaking, it's not even Chinese New Year yet, so every household should have plenty of food!

Whether his family has vegetables to eat or not is none of Song Yan's business. Song Yan just wants to have vegetables to eat right now.

Song Yan broke off the cabbage stalks outside, and his aunt, who was standing to the side, gasped with heartache.

Song Yan flipped through the eggs but didn't find any. Maybe they really were all smashed yesterday! He returned to the side room, but actually went to his spatial storage to get a few eggs.

I steamed an egg custard.

Let's have some stir-fried cabbage with vinegar.

I made a few fried pancakes.

Song Huaqing's family watched as Song Yan packed the delicious food into a basket and then took a washbasin, a thermos, and other daily necessities to the hospital.

"Eat, eat, I want to eat!" Song Cheng's son, Song Bao, smelled the aroma of the fried dough and cried for some.

"Shut up!" Song Cheng was annoyed. This was also the sentiment of everyone else; how did their once peaceful lives turn into this?

If Song Yan knew what they were thinking, he would definitely say: You always get the best deal, of course you think you're living a good life!

Upon arriving at the hospital, Song Yan took out the items one by one.

When Song's parents saw all this food, they were overwhelmed with mixed feelings.

Mr. Song was particularly moved. In terms of physical strength and height, how could his daughter compare to him? Yet, this slender and frail daughter brought them things they couldn't get their hands on.

The steamed egg custard is so smooth and tender. I've hardly ever had it before in my life. It's really delicious!

Fried dough cakes were only made a few times a year at home, and the old lady never gave him any. Song's father ate fried dough cakes at the factory.

Xiaoyan doesn't call her grandma anymore, and she doesn't want to call her mom either.

If I could manage on my own, I could eat these things all the time, even if I couldn't eat them every day! My wife could have a bite too.

Surely I'll have some money in my own pocket now?

I can buy my wife a new dress. All her clothes are hand-me-downs.

Even though my daughter is married, we can still make up for her dowry. It will also make things easier for her in her husband's family.

When others talk about what they gave their daughters when they got married, Mr. Song never dares to say a word, for fear that others will ask, "Did you give your daughter a dowry?"

At least if I live alone, there'll be food when my daughter comes home. I haven't had a single meal at home since she came back…

After watching Song Ma drink the herbal medicine, Song Yan packed up his things and went back home.

Mr. Song didn't want his daughter to stay here to take care of things, probably because he was worried she wouldn't feel comfortable using the restroom. Mrs. Song seemed to be doing alright, so they decided to let her stay.

Back in Song Ma's room, Song Yan locked the door and immediately entered the spatial dimension.

Wow! The duck-raising area has gotten smaller, and there's already a flock of ducks of all sizes. Besides the original ducks, the biggest one must weigh three pounds, and the smallest is just hatching!

After harvesting the ripe crops and fruits, they planted grain.

I'll go check out the black market tomorrow.

I need money now!

After a busy day, Song Yan sat down to read a book again.

I haven't studied for two days!

After reading until he got tired, Song Yan left the space, crawled into bed, and soon drifted off to sleep…

Ahead, shrouded in mist, lay what appeared to be the silhouette of a little girl. "Who are you?"

The fog slowly dissipated, and the little girl turned around. She looked exactly like herself, but was even thinner and more frail.

"Are you Song Yan?"

"Yes, I am Song Yan!"

"Have you been here the whole time?" Song Yan asked tentatively.

"Thank you!"

"Thank me? Thank me for what?" Song Yan asked.

The girl laughed, "I'm stupid and useless. I can't see through those who lie to me, and I can't stand up for myself against those who bully me. I'm also unable to repay those who are good to me. But you can do all of that."

"It's so good that your second and third aunts survived!"

"I try my best to treat those who are good to me well, especially your parents. But as for those who are malicious, no matter who they are, I will retaliate. Have you always been there for me?" Song Yan asked again.

"Thank you! I'm leaving now, goodbye!" The girl strode forward and disappeared from Song Yan's sight!

"Where did you go?" Song Yan shouted.

Song Yan suddenly sat up. He had just had a dream, and the dream felt so real.

Was it a dream? Was Song Yan saying goodbye to herself?

It's still pitch black outside. It's really inconvenient not having a watch.

Last night, everything needed for lighting the stove was prepared. Song Yan lit the stove and started cooking porridge!

Song Yan went to the main room to prepare breakfast, where Song Cheng's wife was already steaming two batches of dough for steamed buns. Song Yan could tell at a glance that they were afraid he would make plain flour buns…

When they arrived at the hospital, Mr. and Mrs. Song didn't look well. "What's wrong with you?"

Song's father: "Xiaoyan, I'm the most useless person. You've suffered so much since you were little. Last night I dreamt you were holding me and crying. You were crying so hard you couldn't catch your breath."

Song Ma: "I dreamt about you too. You were crying so sadly, it made me feel like I couldn't go on living, like my heart was being ripped out. You even said you were leaving. It was as if you meant you wouldn't come back."

"Yes, yes, that's what you said to me in my dream too," Mr. Song added. He also instructed him to definitely separate the family property, to treat Mrs. Song well, and never to hit her again.

Song's father found it difficult to say these words.

The little girl is really gone; the dream I had last night was real.

Otherwise, it's impossible that all three people's dreams coincidentally relate to the original owner.

Song Yan quickly changed the subject, "Is it because Grandma Song reminded you of the past? Don't take it seriously, it was just a dream. Come and eat."

She ate with Mr. and Mrs. Song at the hospital. She couldn't eat at the Song family's house.

Song Yan had a lot to do today, so her parents took care of her father. Unexpectedly, she ran into her second aunt's husband at the hospital entrance.
