Chapter 155 Desperado

"Ah!" Chang Xiaohu, who was walking in front, couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

Both of them were wearing hats, with the brims pulled low. Song Yan turned his gaze to them after hearing the gasp.

Chang Xiaohu recognized Song Yan and stopped in his tracks, feeling uneasy.

It was cold outside, but the temperature inside the Cultural Palace was quite high. People usually took off their hats, masks, scarves, and the like when they entered. Wearing a hat again seemed a bit out of place. The fear in Chang Xiaohu's eyes was too obvious.

Song Yan wondered if he had ever seen this person before.

Chang Xiaohu was simply disguised; his eyebrows had become thicker and his complexion was sallow.

"Do you know each other?" the person behind asked Chang Xiaohu.

"I, I..." Huang Xiaohu's panic was simply a case of trying to cover something up.

As soon as Xiao Hu opened his mouth, Song Yan recognized the voice of a boy going through puberty, and his appearance seemed vaguely familiar. Song Yan knew who this boy was. It was the boy who had stopped Wei Aiguo from taking her home that day.

Cui Jian was very nervous. Since this woman recognized Hu Zi, she knew he was a small-time hoodlum in the black market. Judging from Hu Zi's flustered state, he must have done something wrong. It was nothing more than cheating, swindling, or stealing. If this woman screamed now, things would be terrible.

Cui Jian didn't want to make a fuss.

This was exactly what Song Yan wanted. The front row was filled with officials of all ranks, as well as foreign journalists.

Cui Jian quickly stepped forward and grabbed Song Yan, pulling her very close. "Don't make a sound, come with me."

Song Yan felt something hard pressing against her waist. She glanced at it and saw that it was a knife.

"No, don't touch her!" Chang Xiaohu panicked even more.

"Shut up, come with me." Cui Jian shoved Song Yan forward. There was a door on the side of the corridor. It read: No entry for non-staff. He pushed Song Yan into a corridor, into the men's restroom, and kicked the outer door shut.

He was clearly quite familiar with the terrain…

"Don't even think about shouting. This is for the staff. Everyone's busy with the performance right now, no one's going to come in," Cui Jian threatened.

"Chang Xiaohu, how did you meet her?" Cui Jian asked.

"I don't know her!" Chang Xiaohu denied instinctively.

Cui Jian forced Song Yan to open each restroom door, but none of them were open. He then pushed Song Yan inside and, without hesitation, stabbed her in the throat with a knife…

"No..." Chang Xiaohu tried to rush in... Ever since Cui Jian threatened her with a knife, Song Yan had sensed his intense malice, or rather, murderous intent. So she was constantly on guard.

Just as the old man said, Song Yan lacked stamina, but a short fight wouldn't expose this weakness. When Cui Jian thought he could finish the woman off with a single blow, he was instead subdued. The knife fell into Song Yan's hands.

A knife was pressed against her throat.

Chang Xiaohu opened his mouth but no sound came out.

"You're here? Where's Hei Zi?" Song Yan asked Chang Xiaohu. Song Yan knew that Wei Aiguo's nickname in the thieves' den was Hei Zi.

"Brother Hei said he'd marry you." Chang Xiaohu suddenly blurted out.

"Where is Hei Zi?" Song Yan asked anxiously.

"Big Scar said he'd have Brother Blackie deliver the props and left first. Then Cui Jian pulled me aside and said he wanted to watch the show," Chang Xiaohu replied.

"What are you two up to?" Song Yan asked.

Chang Xiaohu glanced at Cui Jian, clearly unaware of the situation.

"Speak! What are you going to do?" Song Yan held Cui Jian down tightly, the knife already pressed against his skin.

“I just wanted to come in and steal some money.” Cui Jian had never felt so frustrated. He tried to struggle, but he couldn’t move at all.

Song Yan kicked him in the back of the knee, catching him completely off guard and causing him to kneel on the ground, feeling as if his knees were about to shatter. Song Yan's foot was on his ankle. It hurt, it hurt terribly!

You'd better tell the truth.

"Are you Hei Zi's woman? If you mess with me, you'll never see Hei Zi again." Cui Jian was still trying to fool Song Yan.

"Hei Zi and Da Ba are together. He really said he wants to marry you." Chang Xiaohu was a little scared. Was this woman going to kill Cui Jian? If she saw Hei Zi, wouldn't she kill him too?

Song Yan realized that Chang Xiaohu was different from them. "What did he ask you to do?"

"Cui Jian invited me to his show. He said there was a bag under my seat. Inside the bag was a button, and at seven o'clock he told me to press it, saying the power would go out for the entire venue."...

This poor child has never seen the world; this is just fooling idiots!

Someone like Chang Xiaohu had never been to a venue like this before, so finding a seat was a real struggle for him. Cui Jian's original plan was to personally escort Chang Xiaohu to his seat, hand over the task to him, and then leave...

This woman's kung fu is so good, what does she do? And she's Hei Zi's woman again... Cui Jian felt a little desperate, was it what he thought?

"Is that a detonator or explosives under the chair?" Song Yan pushed the knife forward, breaking Cui Jian's skin.

"Detonators, explosives?" Chang Xiaohu was terrified.

There wasn't even a sliver of hope left! She actually knew what she had put there.

"Tell me, how many did you set off? Where are the explosives?"

"I won't tell you." Cui Jian looked at Chang Xiaohu with a strange smile.

Song Yan felt Cui Jian's entire body fall downwards, and black blood gushed from his mouth and nose.

Song Yan placed his hand on his nose and then checked his carotid artery. He was certain he was dead.

Song Yan had never encountered anything like this before, but she understood that he had committed suicide; he was a true desperado.

Song Yan desperately suppressed his rapid breathing. "Where is the seat he mentioned?"

"He...he didn't tell me." Chang Xiaohu was also stunned; even someone as ignorant as him could tell that Cui Jian was dead. "What happened to him?"

"He must have had poison in his mouth. He felt he couldn't escape, so he committed suicide. What's your name?" Song Yan's voice trembled as he spoke.

"My name is Chang Xiaohu."

He let Chang Xiaohu watch the show, first of all to make sure the seat was empty, maybe the ticket was in his hands.

Calm down. You need to calm down now.

Song Yan quickly searched Cui Jian's body and found a ticket in his pocket. Song Yan took the ticket and wanted to find a seat, but looking at Chang Xiaohu, he really didn't know what to do with him.

When Chang Xiaohu noticed Song Yan staring at him, he was terrified. "Don't kill me! I don't want to do anything bad. Hei Zi doesn't want to either. Hei Zi wants to marry you."

Would I kill someone? How could that be?

I didn't sense any malice from Chang Xiaohu, and from his few words, I could tell that the child didn't want to do anything bad.

Song Yan glanced at his watch; it was 6:35. Chang Xiaohu said that if they pressed the button at 7:00, then their operation would likely take place at 7:00. "I know Hei Zi wants to marry me. You come with me to find the bag under the chair, and then we'll go find Hei Zi."

Song Yan locked the toilet door from the inside and leaped out from the roof. It was best not to let anyone discover the body, otherwise it would cause a commotion. "Let's go!" Song Yan grabbed Chang Xiaohu and left.
