Chapter 354 Poisoning

For dinner, we had chicken stew with mushrooms. We also had shredded radish with sugar and a touch of vinegar—it was sweet and sour, and incredibly delicious. There was also a large plate of stir-fried shredded potatoes and a plate of kimchi.

My mother said to go to the cellar and get some more radishes and cabbages, because there weren't any left outside. Wei Aiguo went to the cellar and got them. The radishes were so fresh, they looked like they'd just been pulled from the ground. The cabbages in the cellar were also very fresh, as were the potatoes.

There was a row of jars in the cellar. They contained pickled eggs, duck eggs, and kimchi. The kimchi wasn't anything special, but why were there so many eggs and duck eggs?

Wei Aiguo looked at the radish, and his mother praised it.

Everything in her garden, no matter what it is, is better than what other people grow.

The persimmons ripened seven or eight days earlier than others. The cucumbers also ripened earlier than others. Several watermelon vines were planted. Every single watermelon was large and sweet. Moreover, the vines could produce one more watermelon than others…

Mother praised all the dishes. Afraid her son wouldn't believe her, she cut a slice of radish, "Try this radish, it's so juicy."

Wei Aiguo admitted that the radish was really delicious, but he had tasted this flavor before.

Finally, his mother concluded that it was Song Yan and Jiang Xiaoxiao who had done a good job of growing the garden.

All the credit goes to Song Yan. It was inconvenient to constantly take things out of her spatial storage to replace them, so Song Yan discovered that watering the plants with diluted water from the First Spring caused noticeable changes, and the produce tasted delicious. So she did just that.

Wei Aiguo found every dish delicious. Especially the pheasant meat, which should be quite dry, but this was incredibly tender.

He felt like he was full but still didn't want to put down his chopsticks. That evening, Wei Ping and Wei An really wanted to find their aunt, but under their grandmother's stern gaze, the two children didn't dare to move.

After returning to the house, Wei Aiguo hugged Song Yan and said, "Mother is eager to have a grandson."

"Are you sure you want to fulfill Mother's wish?" Song Yan's eyebrows were raised, and her confident beauty was particularly attractive.

Wei Aiguo: "Don't you want to give me a son?"

“What’s so good about sons? I’d rather have a daughter,” Song Yan said.

“Then let’s have a daughter first, and then a son,” Wei Aiguo said as he took off Song Yan’s clothes.

Did I give way to you? Why are you in such a hurry?

"Didn't you say you wanted a daughter? How can you have one without me?"...

After the wind and rain stopped, Wei Aiguo still held Song Yan tightly.

Song Yan also breathed a sigh of relief. She had been scared at first. Wei Aiguo was much gentler this time, perhaps sensing her tension and fear. He patiently kissed her, helping her gradually relax…

Song Yan seemed to be experiencing that kind of pleasure. But later, she couldn't take it anymore… He was also finding it incredibly difficult to endure…

Song Yan instinctively snuggled closer into Wei Aiguo's arms.

Wei Aiguo kissed Song Yan tenderly, "Did it still hurt afterwards?"

"You've toned it down a lot, so... you can still hold back." Song Yan said sullenly.

"Wife, actually I still want to...wife..."

Song Yan didn't want to talk to him; this guy was really something.

"Woof...woof...woof woof"

"Woof...woof..."

"Bai Shuang's cry sounds wrong. Go check it out!" Song Yan was already very familiar with Bai Shuang's cry.

Wei Aiguo hurriedly put on his clothes, and Song Yan handed him a flashlight, which he then took and went outside.

Song Yan was a little slower than Wei Aiguo. When she went out, both dogs were relatively calm. "What happened just now?"

"Look!" There were two pieces of meat at Wei Aiguo's feet. "Someone threw in the meat. The domestic dog, which wasn't trained, wanted to eat it, but Bai Shuang wouldn't let it."

Bai Shuang has received professional training and will not eat foods she does not know.

These days, who doesn't cherish meat like the plague? You wouldn't throw it to someone else's dog, would you?

Wei Aiguo took the two pieces of meat into the house and carefully examined them, discovering red wheat grains mixed in with the meat—that was rat poison.

Song Yan was furious; someone had actually poisoned her dog. "Have Bai Shuang follow the scent; she'll definitely find the poisoner."

Wei Aiguo had dressed hastily, but now he had taken his time to put his clothes on properly. "I wanted to find out who poisoned me. But what do you think their motive was?"

"How could anyone guess that?" Song Yan shook his head.

"Think carefully, has anything unusual happened these past few days? I'll take Bai Shuang to look for her and see who poisoned her," Wei Aiguo said, turning to leave.

Song Yan: "I'll go with you; Bai Shuang listens to me more."

Wei Aiguo did not object.

The meat definitely smelled of the poisoner, so Song Yan had Bai Shuang smell it and then took her there…

Unexpectedly, they ended up at Cheng Yi's house.

Cheng Yi is in prison, and now he lives with his parents and two older brothers.

Cheng Yi's mother has returned.

Bai Shuang called out.

Song Yan patted Bai Shuang's head, "Don't shout!"

The two returned with their dog.

Song Yan: "What do you plan to do about this?"

"Poisoning a dog isn't a big deal. His family can say they want revenge because of something that happened in the past."

Bai Shuang is perfectly fine; she's only guilty of attempted poisoning of a military dog, so she won't face much punishment.

What was their motive for poisoning them? Was it just revenge? If that's all, then let's keep quiet and I'll find a chance to teach them a lesson.

Song Yan: "The night before you came back, Bai Shuang was screaming loudly. I got up to check on her, but I didn't find anything. It happened once before."

I didn't really pay much attention. Sometimes there are raccoon dogs or something at night, and I thought they just startled the dog.

Wei Aiguo felt a surge of anger; this guy was trying to scheme against his wife! But what was he scheming against?

Now that they're back, even if the dog dies from poisoning, they won't have much of a chance to do anything.

The two of them lay back down in bed. The previous intimate atmosphere was gone! Wei Aiguo was furious again. These bastards, you just wait!

Wei Aiguo also harbored another emotion. Others might not understand Wei Guo's feelings at that moment. In his eyes, anyone who wanted to kill Bai Shuang was someone who wanted to kill his comrade-in-arms, an unforgivable crime.
