Chapter 381 A Joyous Event at My Mother's Family

Adults seem to think that studying is useful, otherwise why would they compare grades!

With Xiao Hu at the commune primary school, they could also get their exam papers.

The students in the literacy class all did very well. Xiao Hu said their results were better than those of the students in the commune's primary school.

Sister-in-law Cheng thought reading was extremely useful. She believed that the educated youth were so intelligent because they were cultured. Ji Xiaochun had changed her name, and Sister-in-law Cheng was thinking that her son and daughter should also have good names.

She then sought help from Song Yan and Jiang Xiaoxiao to come up with a name. Unable to refuse their kind offer, they spent several days brainstorming.

Cheng Shuanzhu didn't sound very good, so Jiang Xiaoxiao came up with three names: Cheng Mao, Cheng Nan, and Cheng Qihang.

Sister-in-law Cheng chose Cheng Qihang.

Song Yan suggested that Cheng Da Mei should simply drop the "Da" and be called Cheng Mei directly.

Sister-in-law Cheng thought it was a good name, so she named her daughter Cheng Mei.

Jiang Xiaoxiao led her students in their studies.

Song Yan missed her mother and wanted to go back to see her. Her due date was approaching.

Aunt Wei was worried about Song Yan, who was already four months pregnant, going out on his own. Besides, her son should also visit his mother-in-law.

Wei Aiguo took leave to go out with his wife.

Song Yan received meticulous care from Wei Aiguo as he arrived in J City.

After getting off the train, Wei Aiguo carried a large backpack and a flour sack in his hand.

Yes, it's just a flour sack.

The flour sack was tied horizontally across the middle with a rope. Wei Aiguo was carrying it by the rope.

Nowadays, every household is short of food. Only close relatives will send noodles to them.

Aunt Wei thought that delivering noodles was the most practical solution, so she insisted that her son carry a bag of noodles.

Wei Aiguo was strong; he carried a large bag on his back and a sack of flour with ease and without strain.

When I got off the train, many people looked at the bag of flour with envy.

Song Yan asked himself several times, why didn't he insist on coming out on his own? He could have kept everything under control!

Sigh! It's too late to think about it now.

The two of them took a bus directly to the machinery factory.

They had just gotten off the bus.

"Is Song Yan back?"

Song Yan turned around and saw Tang Jian's wife. "It's Aunt Tang! I'm back to see my mom!"

"Oh! You've come back just in time. Your mother went into labor yesterday and is in the hospital right now," said Tang Jian's wife.

Song Yan wanted to go to the hospital, but what about his belongings?

"Is that Xiaoyan?" a girl called out from afar.

Song Yan: "Sister Shuying!" It's Liu Shuying, Song Jun's girlfriend, riding over on her bicycle.

“You’ve come back just in time. My second aunt just gave birth to a boy. Aunt Tang came back early to cook, so I came to help get the food.” Liu Shuying knew about the Song family and how important this son was to her second aunt. Her voice was full of joy.

"How is my mom?" Song Yan asked.

“Okay, Second Aunt is doing well!” Liu Shuying said.

Song Yan quickly introduced them to each other.

When Liu Shuying saw Wei Aiguo carrying so many things, she said, "I'll take these things back for you. You two go to the hospital first!"

"Xiaoyan, sit here and rest for a while. I'll take it home and then come find you to go to the hospital together." Wei Aiguo felt embarrassed to let Liu Shuying carry the things upstairs.

Song Yan nodded; she would wait here and go directly to the hospital.

Tang Jian's wife chatted with Song Yan for a while.

Isn't Song Yan's husband a soldier? How come he came back with her? Tang Jian's wife must be curious.

Song Yan directly stated that her husband was injured in the line of duty and has now been transferred to a new job.

Tang Jian's wife suddenly realized that she had noticed something was off about Song Yan's husband's walk.

They were all neighbors, and there was no ill intent on their part. She immediately reassured Song Yan that it was good to have a job back home. She wouldn't have to worry about her anymore, and things would be peaceful.

Not long after, Wei Aiguo arrived on Liu Shuying's bicycle.

Liu Shuying told him to take Song Yan to see his second aunt first.

Tang Jian's wife watched the couple's departing figures with a sense of envy.

The couple gave the mother-in-law a bag of flour.

What a filial daughter and son-in-law! Song Lao Er has another son, and his family is thriving.

Song's mother was already asleep in the hospital, while Song's father looked at his son and grinned foolishly.

Mr. Song was naturally overjoyed to see his daughter, and he quickly pulled her to see his youngest son, repeatedly asking if the child was good-looking.

Can a newborn baby who looks like a red-skinned monkey be considered good-looking? But if you look closely, these children's eyebrows and eyes look a lot like Song's father.

To be considerate of her father's feelings, Song Yan praised him. Song's father beamed with joy.

Since it was his mother-in-law's delivery room, Wei Aiguo couldn't get close; he could only look at it from afar and wanted to laugh.

As soon as Song Yan came out, he asked, "You want to laugh, right? What's so funny?"

"Your praise was too perfunctory. Dad was too happy to notice anything." Wei Aiguo glanced at Song Yan's belly, thinking that he mustn't be so foolish when his own child was born.

When Song Ma gave birth, relatives and friends such as her second and third aunts all came.

Song Yan introduced Wei Aiguo and greeted them.

Song Yan whispered to his second and third aunts, while his second aunt's husband, Miao Zhen, and Wei Aiguo got along very well.

Song Ma had a normal delivery and was able to go home the next day.

Wei Aiguo and Song Yan lived in the house rented by Song Jun.

Song Jun rented a room. This family were long-time employees of the machinery factory, and they had many daughters. Once a daughter got married, there would be an empty room.

The house is relatively spacious.

Song Jun rented a side room in his house.

In just one day, Song Yan found out the situation.

The eldest son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Song, did not want Song Jun to get married because they couldn't afford it.

Song Jun said they didn't need to pay.
