Chapter 438 Killed

Ms. He and Song Yan had a pleasant conversation. Gu Yansong, sitting to the side, was very unhappy. But there was nothing he could do about it; he dared not say anything.

The men lived on the first floor, while Song Yan and the other women lived on the second floor.

When Song Yan arrived at his bedroom, a female comrade came in a moment later. "Hello, Comrade Song Yan. This is what Officer Han asked me to give you."

Song Yan and his group were searched when they came in, so they couldn't bring anything in.

What Han gave her was a small pistol.

"How many bullets can this pistol hold? With this range, will it be useful in a critical moment? Can't we get a bigger one?" Song Yan asked.

This woman was assigned to protect Ms. He. When she first met Song Yan, she thought, "This female student has such thin arms and legs, will she be able to fight?" But then she thought, "Only those who look delicate can catch people off guard."

Seeing her attitude towards guns, the woman felt much more at ease. She seems quite knowledgeable!

"My name is Yan Jincui, just call me Sister Yan. Come here!" Sister Yan lifted the bed sheet, revealing the space under the bed. With a gentle pull, the partition opened, revealing a gun and bullets inside.

"It was also under Ms. He's bed."

Song Yan glanced around and saw a sniper rifle, an automatic rifle, and three pistols. These pistols weren't the little toy she'd been given earlier. There was also a good amount of ammunition.

Yan Jincui then gave Song Yan some more instructions and left.

Song Yan stored the sniper rifle, a pistol, some bullets, and the small pistol given to him by Yan Jincui into his spatial storage.

It's more convenient to have firearms readily available.

My mission has begun.

She unconsciously touched her lower abdomen again.

Secretary Fang's words, "It's for the greater good of the nation," made it impossible for my mother to refuse.

Baby, Mommy will take good care of herself and you. Let's work together.

Her baby is incredibly well-behaved, and she has experienced no pregnancy discomfort whatsoever.

Song Yan does his job properly every day, and sometimes chats with Ms. He.

The woman was taken abroad after birth and knew almost nothing about the country or rural areas. She was very curious about the educated youth who had been sent to the countryside, and Song Yan told her about the customs and people in the countryside.

Song Yan tried to be as realistic as possible, for example, that it was still difficult to achieve basic food and clothing, that medical care was backward in some areas, and that everyone was working hard to achieve high grain yields, as everyone wanted to contribute to the country's development.

Gu Yansong was somewhat angry. He felt that saying these things to someone who had been abroad for so long was damaging to the country's image.

Song Yan disagrees, saying, "Our country is poor and backward, which is why we need to build it. We also need these patriots to return home and bring back advanced technology."

We may be lagging behind, but we are striving to move forward. What's shameful about that?

Ms. He praised Song Yan's idea, saying, "You did the right thing. Only by facing ourselves or our country squarely can we know what we need to do."

Gu Yansong angrily turned and left.

Song Yan had a clear understanding of the villa's interior and exterior, as well as the situation of the security personnel.

The people who work here don't talk much. When they see Song Yan, they just give him a polite smile and don't say anything else.

Only Yan Jincui needed to stay close to Ms. He at all times. She had to answer whatever Ms. He asked her, with Song Yan following beside her. Yan Jincui only talked to Song Yan more.

Yan Jincui came from a rural area, so Ms. He naturally asked her about her experiences in rural life, including her family. Her mother only had her and her younger sister, and people laughed at her father for not having any offspring. Therefore, she worked harder than others to support her sister's education; she and her sister had to be even more successful than their sons.

They ate pastries together and chatted...

Song Yan reads books when she has free time. She also cooked several meals for Ms. He.

Ms. He eats Western food more often. But now that she's back in China, she needs to gradually adapt to Chinese food.

She raved about the Chinese food that Song Yan cooked.

Seven days passed peacefully like this.

Dr. Zhao's work was done, and Ms. He gave him two boxes of imported candy as a token of her gratitude.

This candy is not available in the country.

Song Yan noticed that Gu Yansong's eyes were very eager.

Dr. Zhao also extended an invitation to Song Yan, saying that Song Yan could visit him at his hospital when he had time after returning to school.

Song Yan accepted it happily.

After a month of treatment, Ms. He felt much better physically and emotionally. She spoke English most of the time while abroad, and when she was happy, she would sometimes blurt out a sentence in English while speaking Chinese.

Song Yan listened with a smile.

They were happily eating breakfast.

Suddenly, a series of "bang bang bang" sounds rang out.

Ms. He wasn't surprised by the sound; it was a gunshot. She pulled Song Yan upstairs.

Gu Yansong was so frightened that he wet himself. "How could this happen? How could this happen?" he shouted incoherently. Seeing Song Yan follow Ms. He upstairs, he followed her upstairs as well.

Yan Jincui found a blind spot and pushed Ms. He and Song Yan there, while she stood guard in front.

Song Yan thought: The constant gunfire downstairs is more exciting than watching a blockbuster movie.

It looks like there are a lot of attackers. Someone has actually come up. Yan Jincui's marksmanship is so fast and accurate!

Song Yan appeared to be cowering in the corner out of fear, but in reality, she was observing everything around her.

Some of the attackers who came up from the first floor were killed by Yan Jincui, while others were killed by our personnel who caught up from behind.

The gunfight continues.

There was crying coming from the second-floor corridor.

"Who's there?" one of our soldiers shouted.

"It's me. It's Aunt Xia... Waaah... So many people have died downstairs, so many..."
