Chapter 443 Concern

The next day, Ms. He's safety was handed over to another unit. It was time for her to leave; she said goodbye to Song Yan.

Ms. He knew that for her safety, she would likely have to start working at the experimental base ahead of schedule. Therefore, this separation would likely last for quite some time. "Song Yan, I will definitely visit you if I have the chance. I look forward to you becoming an excellent doctor..."

After saying goodbye to Aunt He, Aunt Liu stayed with Song Yan.

Song Yan dislikes troubling others the most.

Aunt Liu: "You have no idea how happy I am to be with you right now. I guess this is like working."

I can just laze around all day, no need to go to work, and I still get paid. There's a cafeteria here that provides free meals. Looking at you, such a beautiful woman, makes me so happy!

Song Yan didn't say much more. Only by adjusting her mindset and returning to school as soon as possible could she avoid causing trouble for others.

Without medication, Song Yan was able to sleep for four or five hours the following night. This was better than before.

Shen Changchuan and Secretary Fang both returned to the military region to work.

Aunt Liu is here with Song Yan to recuperate.

This is a sanatorium for retired cadres. The environment here is very good, and the supplies and equipment are excellent.

Song Yan has never been a weak person; she always strives to live her life to the fullest.

Song Yan knew how to adjust her mindset, so she tried to find things to do.

They can have their meals delivered by the cafeteria or cook them themselves. So, they'll cook for themselves!

Aunt Liu would definitely give her full support to whatever Song Yan wanted to do. Aunt Liu asked the guard Zhou Gang to find more ingredients, and Zhou Gang really did bring back a whole bunch.

When Song Yan wanted to cook, Aunt Liu would help her. Aunt Liu and Zhou Gang would do everything from picking and washing vegetables to chopping them. Song Yan mostly watched them do it, but she would cook the vegetables herself in the end.

This is the treatment a head chef receives.

Aunt Liu was surprised that Song Yan was actually quite good at cooking. Using the common ingredients in front of her, she was able to make six dishes according to Song Yan's instructions.

Aunt Liu secretly called Lao Fang and asked him to come home for dinner! Where's the food Song Yan cooked?

He knows his own wife best; she probably meant to tell Old Shen to go back and eat the food his daughter-in-law cooked.

General Shen and Lao Fang were extremely busy, but Lao Fang still managed to say something.

As expected, Old Shen didn't hesitate at all; he wanted to go back to the retirement home for dinner.

Song Yan didn't know if Secretary Fang and General Shen would come, so he prepared a little extra for dinner. But when it came time to eat, he realized there wasn't much.

Secretary Fang and General Shen both said it was delicious, and Aunt Liu ate an extra bowl of rice than usual.

The bowls and plates on the table were spotless.

After the meal, General Shen and Secretary Fang had to rush back to work.

Secretary Fang joked, "Aren't we a typical case of getting fat from eating and thin from walking?"

General Shen: I don't know if I've lost weight from walking.

But I know that if I don't seize this opportunity to eat Song Yan's cooking now, I'm afraid I won't be able to later.

Secretary Fang: "Why are you so pessimistic!"

"Let's not talk about this anymore. Just tell your sister-in-law that if Song Yan is cooking, he should give us a call." Then Old Shen brought up work...

At the retirement home for retired cadres, there are people specifically responsible for hygiene, and even Song Yan's bed is tidied up after he gets up.

Song Yan's main activities were reading and cooking. He himself requested to cook; otherwise, he wouldn't have needed to do it.

Song Yan had the time and wanted to expend her energy, so she focused her attention on cooking.

The meals she cooked every night—or rather, the meals she directed—were varied, delicious, and made everyone eating very happy.

Actually, Song Yan added some spring water from the first spring while cooking, and the food tasted very good.

General Shen and Secretary Fang both came from those difficult years. Aunt Liu said that they both had injuries and illnesses, but they were strong-willed and just didn't talk about it.

Song Yan's mental state improved rapidly, and she became energetic again. She asked Zhou Gang to buy medicine and borrow a medicine grinder. She wanted to make medicine.

Zhou Gang thought Song Yan was making a fuss over nothing, but since the army commander was willing to pay out of his own pocket, what could he say?

There are three portions of the prepared pills: one for Aunt Liu, one for General Shen, and one for Secretary Fang.

Zhou Gang muttered to himself, "And this is just a matter of delivering pills."

Aunt Liu, who slept with her, was also very happy. After a few days, Song Yan's sleep schedule returned to normal, although she didn't sleep very soundly. Song Yan wanted to go back to school, but they all disagreed.

After his afternoon nap, Song Yan started thinking about what to cook.

Zhou Gang was happy to run to the cafeteria every day, because he was always there to get free meals!

Zhou Gang recounted everything he saw in the cafeteria to Song Yan, and told him to ask Song Yan for whatever he needed.

Dinner was, of course, delicious once again.

When Shen Changchuan and Secretary Fang came to dinner, everyone felt that General Shen seemed to be in low spirits.

Even if Song Yan noticed that General Shen's mood was off, he wouldn't presume to ask. He reasoned that General Shen treated him like a junior out of kindness.

To be honest, Song Yan always felt something was off. Secretary Fang came to eat every day because Aunt Liu was here. But General Shen came every day and always inquired about her diet and daily life.

They even left their bodyguard, Zhou Gang, here.

General Shen didn't have to come at all; wasn't the task of taking care of himself left to Aunt Liu?

Any soldier could be placed here; there's no need to put Zhou Gang here.

And even though they think everything is fine, they still treat them like royalty. Just like when my mother-in-law and Wei Aiguo found out I was pregnant with Yueyue.
