Chapter 536 Entering the Courtyard Again

Today, Wei Aiguo returned to his unit, and he was holding Bai Shuang's hand when Song Yan came out to see him off.

There was no one in the alley at the moment, so Song Yan immediately put Bai Shuang into his spatial storage.

Aunt Wei was the first to notice that Bai Shuang wasn't home, and she immediately asked where Bai Shuang was!

Song Yan: "We were afraid that Bai Shuang would cause trouble, so we kept it at someone else's house for a while."

When Yueyue was about to go out to play, she discovered that Bai Shuang was gone.

Where did Bai Shuang go? Her family doesn't know!

Song Yan should have known. But it was Song Yan and Shen Ruomei who accompanied Old Zeng on his stroll.

I wonder what Old Zeng's house looks like now. Although he said he doesn't care how it looks, Song Yan thought it best to take him to see it. Anything that's not right, anything he doesn't like, can be changed!

Old Zeng, Shen Ruomei, Song Yan, and Di Jianjun arrived at the courtyard house.

The gate of this two-courtyard house is clearly different from the one Song Yan bought.

It's not just the size of the door; the structure, the roof, and the carvings and paintings are all beautiful.

Seeing Song Yan's surprise, Old Zeng explained, "This house was originally inhabited by officials. The structure varied according to their rank. There used to be a pair of stone lions at the entrance, but they were removed later."

Song Yan felt that this courtyard was definitely very large for ordinary people, but for officials and their families, was it a bit too small?

Old Zeng: "This is a really good place; you can't just buy a house here with money."

This two-courtyard house has an outer courtyard at the entrance. There are five rooms facing backwards.

Once you enter through the second gate, you'll find yourself in a covered walkway. The eaves of the walkway are decorated with carvings and colorful paintings.

The main house has five rooms, with one side room on each side, and three wing rooms, with another side room to the south of the wing rooms.

The Ji family father and son were working when they saw someone approaching. They stopped. They recognized Song Yan. Song Yan greeted them and told them to continue working.

The courtyard is very spacious.

Old Zeng wandered around the courtyard; every scene and object there must hold his memories.

Song Yan was curious about the toilet, so he went inside to take a look. Not every courtyard house has a toilet.

Looking at the "wooden board" painted red on his head, Song Yan thought, "That's really extravagant!"

When she came out, she saw Lao Zeng standing outside.

Old Zeng: "You saw it?"

Song Yan nodded, "I see it!" That "wooden plank" must weigh several pounds, it certainly couldn't be light. The key is, there are several of them! How were those heavy pieces of gold fixed on? It's not real wood that can be nailed. Godmother's ideas are truly ingenious!

When Shen Ruomei saw Song Yan go into the restroom, she didn't follow him and didn't understand what the two of them were talking about.

After looking around, Song Yan was about to leave. Master Ji called out to him, "Comrade Song!"

"Is something the matter, Master Ji?" Song Yan asked.

"There's something I find quite strange, and I wanted to tell you about it. These past couple of days, there's been a woman, probably in her twenties, always loitering around here. The first day she even came into the yard and asked us who we were building the house for?"

My dad ignored her and sent her away. She didn't come back in, but wandered around outside the yard.

Song Yan: "I understand. Thank you for telling me, Master Ji. You just need to fix your house and don't need to worry about anything else."

Old Zeng sighed; he knew who it was. "Let's go!"

The three men walked out of the courtyard and were met by a woman.

Song Yan remembers her.

"Dad! You're back!" Fu Baozhen exclaimed.

Old Zeng said expressionlessly, "From that year on, you can no longer call me Dad."

Fu Bao's eyes reddened. "Dad! I had no choice back then. You have to know how hard it was for me."

Dad, I've missed you all these years.

Old Zeng was trembling, and Song Yan quickly helped him up.

Old Zeng: "I don't know if you miss me or these houses, but let me tell you, none of these houses are mine right now."

"And if you call me Comrade Zeng, then we can talk. But if you call me Dad, get out of here right now!"

"Dad!" Fu Baozhen cried. "I was wrong back then, can't you forgive me?"

I'll always be your daughter!

"Di Jianjun!"

"arrive!"

"This woman is not allowed to appear in front of me."

"yes!"

Old Zeng lifted his leg and left, but Fu Baozhen wanted to chase after him. Di Jianjun grabbed Fu Baozhen, immobilizing her.

“I am still my father’s daughter. Aren’t you afraid that one day after my father acknowledges me, I will not let you off the hook?” Fu Baozhen said bitterly.

Di Jianjun: "My task is to obey Zeng Lao's orders."

As Lao Zeng walked away, Fu Baozhen grew anxious. She had been waiting there for several days and couldn't take any more leave. Today, she had finally seen her father. She couldn't just watch him leave like this. "If you don't let go, I'll shout that you're being a pervert."

Di Jianjun: "I have identification, and Mr. Zeng will also testify for me."

Your slander against me will soon be exposed. You're going to be punished for slandering soldiers.

Fu Baozhen was furious.

Di Jianjun pushed Fu Baozhen back a few steps. "If you're smart, you won't follow me anymore."

You know I'm going to take action, and you won't get away with it.

Fu Baozhen's face was full of resentment.

“You grew up in a military family, so I’m qualified to be Zeng Lao’s bodyguard. You should understand that I’m not someone to be trifled with.” After saying that, Di Jianjun left.

When Di Jianjun found Zeng Lao, neither of them spoke.

Old Zeng saw that Di Jianjun had returned. "From now on, if I see her jumping around in front of me, I'll stop her. I don't care what methods I use."

Song Yan seemed hesitant to speak.

Old Zeng: "What? You think I went too far?"

Song Yan: "No."

"Speak your mind." Old Zeng's tone was very stern.

"Did Fu Baozhen do something really outrageous back then?" Song Yan asked.

"Sigh!" Old Zeng sighed.

After spending so many days together, Di Jianjun understood the importance of Song Yan and his wife in Old Zeng's heart. He tugged at Shen Ruomei. "Old Zeng, why don't you and Song Yan rest over there for a while?"

There was a park next door with benches. And there was no one there at that time.

"Okay!" Old Zeng was the first to walk over.

Song Yan followed.

Old Zeng sat quietly for a while, reminiscing about the past.

"I was locked up. No decision was made at the time about what to do with me."

This hurdle lasted for a month.

I eat two meals a day, and all I eat is soup and water.

Even murderers wouldn't be treated like that under normal circumstances. Su Zhaohai did all of this.

My guards worked in shifts. Two of them had served in my unit, and the other two were from Shen Changchuan.

They would secretly slip me some food.

Su Zhaohai wanted to kill me outright, but unfortunately, many others wanted me alive, and he couldn't achieve his goal.

Song Yan grasped Lao Zeng's rough hand, thinking that one day she would make Su Zhaohai pay the price.

Old Zeng seemed to sense Song Yan's anger. "Those things are all in the past."
