"Assistant Zhou, could you do me a favor?" Ji Chunyang said.
Chang Xiaohu had specifically instructed Assistant Zhou that if Chunyang didn't have time or couldn't handle something, he could delegate it to Assistant Zhou.
So whatever Chunyang instructed, Assistant Zhou would do as she was told, even though she hardly ever asked Assistant Zhou to do anything.
"Tell your chairman to personally bring me the property certificate!"
"You must say this in front of Secretary Xia, you absolutely must say it in front of Secretary Xia, you can't handle this matter wrong!" Chunyang said.
Assistant Zhou couldn't help but touch his nose again.
Secretary Xia showed great respect to Miss Ji in front of the chairman, and seemed to care about her a lot.
However, as an observer, Assistant Zhou was well aware of some of her subtle actions.
It's just that the chairman didn't notice.
"Yes, Miss Ji, I will do my best to fulfill your instructions!" Assistant Zhou knew very well whose assistant he was.
Chunyang looked at the house. The house was five stops away from the school. It wasn't very close, but it wasn't far either.
Chunyang: "The house has already been bought, it's too late for me to say anything now."
You should tell the chairman that this is the best course of action!
Tell Secretary Xia that I want to move in this week!
The chairman entrusted all these matters to Secretary Xia.
Also, tell your chairman to come and host a housewarming party for me!
Moving into a newly bought house should have some kind of ceremony, right?
Chunyang then gave instructions on how to clean the house.
Assistant Zhou wrote down each and every one of them.
He wanted to present Miss Ji's requests to Secretary Xia in front of the chairman.
What if Ms. Ji is unhappy if the discount is reduced in the end?
Assistant Zhou didn't want to take that responsibility.
...
Chunyang received a call from Xiaohu at school, asking when she would have time.
Chunyang went to their newly bought house after school on Friday evening.
She doesn't have classes on Saturdays.
It was already late autumn, and Chunyang was wearing a thin cashmere coat over a snow-white turtleneck sweater, and brown leather shoes.
The courtyard gate was ajar, and Chunyang went straight in.
There are sounds coming from the kitchen.
The kitchen door was open, and when Secretary Xia saw Chunyang, she was struck by her intellectual and elegant demeanor, as well as her fashionable attire.
As a woman, she was jealous.
Chunyang's wool coat was custom-made by a professional tailor. The labor cost alone was enough to buy another coat.
"Chairman, come and try this dish, how does it taste?" Secretary Xia, wearing an apron, ladled the dish out of the pot.
She held a plate in one hand and a pair of chopsticks in the other, handing them to Chang Xiaohu.
She used the same old trick, deliberately acting as if she and Chang Xiaohu were very natural and familiar with each other.
Chang Xiaohu took the chopsticks and took a bite. "It tastes pretty good!"
I never knew you were such a good cook!
"Chairman, I know a lot of things! Today I'll definitely let you taste my cooking..."
Oh? Miss Ji is here!
"Miss Ji, just take this dish to the dining room!" Secretary Xia said, handing over the plate.
Chang Xiaohu once lived at the very bottom of society, and even though he is now the chairman of the board, he does not feel superior.
He does everything himself, even the most mundane tasks.
Secretary Xia's words did not attract his attention.
If it were Assistant Zhou, he would never have instructed Ji Chunyang like that.
"Brother, take the dishes over there!"
"I'm going to wash my hands!" Chunyang said and went to the restroom.
Chunyang washed her hands and went into the restaurant.
The dining room and kitchen are the two southernmost rooms in the west wing.
There is a door connecting the two rooms, but each room also has its own door.
Chunyang went straight into the restaurant, sat down at the table, and talked to Chang Xiaohu about the layout of the house.
All the haphazardly built structures in the yard have been demolished, the kitchen has been cleaned up, and the bathroom has been cleaned up as well.
The rest of the space wasn't specially decorated; it was simply habitable.
Chang Xiaohu recounted what Assistant Zhou told Chunyang after showing her the house. "...Secretary Xia said there really weren't any houses for sale nearby, so when she came across this courtyard for sale, she reserved it!"
This house is indeed a bit too far to get close... but it's alright, I'll have someone keep an eye out, and we'll buy you a house closer when one comes along..."
Chunyang looked at Secretary Xia, who was busy in the kitchen. "Okay!"
However, Secretary Xia must let me see the house before I buy it next time.
What I said wasn't entirely correct; Secretary Xia might not be able to find a place to live next time!
Chang Xiaohu looked at Chunyang; something about her words was a little strange!
"Miss Ji, I've cooked another dish. Please take it over!" Xia's voice came from the kitchen.
"Brother Xiaohu, I'm not going. I'll get covered in the smell of cooking oil!" Ji Chunyang leaned back leisurely in the rattan chair.
Chang Xiaohu affectionately ruffled Chunyang's hair. "I'll go get the dishes!"
"Brother Xiaohu, where's Assistant Zhou?" Chunyang asked.
Chang Xiaohu: "Don't you like the fruit wine that your second sister-in-law makes?"
I told him to go get it!
Today is a housewarming party for you, so I'll let you have a small cup!
"Brother, I want to drink Second Sister-in-law's flower tea!"
"Is it here?" Chunyang's voice was languid.
"Yes! I brought it to you! Just wait!" Chang Xiaohu went to make tea for Chunyang.
Secretary Xia had to bring in the next dish she had cooked herself.
A short while later, Assistant Zhou returned. He greeted Chunyang and then quietly set the table with the cutlery.
There were two sets of bowls and chopsticks, and two wine glasses.
Secretary Xia had finished preparing all the dishes, and she took off her apron. "Chairman, my cooking skills are really good. My family all praise me. Please have a good taste today!"
