By the time Song Yan returned, they were all gone. Wei Aiguo didn't mention Bai Shuang to Song Yan.
Dogs are man's best friend. Besides, Bai Shuang is a military dog that has saved lives many times. Song Yan couldn't help but ask Wei Aiguo what their plans were for Bai Shuang.

Qiu Hai's mother decided to bring over some empty jars from home. Qiu Hai said he needed salt, sugar, and chili peppers. He would go and forage for wild vegetables himself.
The boys all knew how delicious kimchi was. Without hesitation, Wang Jinhui and Xu Liangsheng called home to ask for empty jars, salt, sugar, and chili peppers.
Fang Shengjie felt a pang of sadness; he had nowhere to make a phone call. His father had moved out alone, and the house was completely empty. Should he ask his grandmother for something? Fang Shengjie decided against it.
