Chapter 271 Divorce

The day was exhausting, both mentally and physically. When Lao Fang and the others got home, they looked like they'd been completely drained.

Regardless of how Wei Aiguo ultimately decides to handle this matter, that's another story. The most important thing is to ensure the person isn't seriously injured. If they are, you'll be facing criminal charges. Besides, the family can't afford to lose face like that!

If someone gets seriously injured in a fight or brawl outside, that's a different story.

Anyway, this whole thing is just awful no matter how you look at it.

If Wei Aiguo doesn't forgive them for this, it will be recorded in their files, and the nature of this matter is different from ordinary fighting. They can't go into politics or the military. Their family isn't starving, but they will have to give up the path they love most.

The four of them are the same age and have been talking about joining the army together since they were little.

Perhaps only Chief of Staff Xu would be the most disappointed, because he only has this one son. Others can have other sons to inherit their mantle, but Chief of Staff Xu doesn't.

None of the four families went to the police station to ask for help; they just wanted to make sure the family suffered enough inside.

But only Grandma Shen didn't think that way. When she saw Fang Jinghua's face was red and swollen, the old lady refused to go. Then, when she heard that Fang Shengjie was in the police station, the old lady insisted on going there too.

Mr. Shen scolded his wife, telling her not to get involved in the matter.

Old Shen goes to bed early every day. Once he lies down to sleep, his wife can't fall asleep.

That evening, the old lady confided in her daughter, especially about the slap that Lao Fang had given Fang Jinghua; she couldn't get over it.

The old lady suddenly remembered that if she couldn't go to the police station herself, her husband could go instead. She insisted that her husband go to the police station to bring the child back. She was willing to accept any punishment, whether it was a record or a fine. But surely they didn't need to be at the police station at night?

Old Fang must have felt uncomfortable that his mother-in-law wouldn't allow him to say a word about his own child. Now that he's caused trouble, his mother-in-law still has the same attitude. Old Fang's temper flared up.

Shen Hongxiang felt sorry for her child, but she was also at her wits' end with her elderly mother's nagging. She actually considered discussing taking the old house to the police station.

“I won’t go,” the old man said.

“If you won’t go, Hongxiang, you go! It’s not like you’re going to cripple or kill someone, why do you have to hold my grandson hostage?” The old lady started acting like a scoundrel again.

Shen Hongxiang's eyes were brimming with tears. "Old Fang, what am I supposed to do? Mom is so old, she can't handle such a big stress."

It would be a lie to say that Deputy Division Commander Fang wasn't disappointed. The child had become so unruly that it was surprising he hadn't been disciplined earlier. Was his wife trying to compromise, or was she also spoiling him?

"Jinghua, come here!" The old man knew his daughter was peeking into the living room through the crack in the bedroom door.

Fang Jinghua cautiously walked out, "Dad!"

"Jinghua, do you think you did nothing wrong?" Lao Fang asked.

Fang Jinghua burst into tears. "I knew things would turn out this way. I would have gone to apologize to Wei Aiguo instead of trying to find another way."

"You've already hit him, isn't that enough? You still have to make the child admit his mistake." The old lady hugged the child with heartache.

“Jinghua, I’m so happy that you think this way. You will always be my daughter.”

"Stop saying such useless things. Go see my grandson right now." The old lady cried, and when she cried, everyone in the family was afraid.

Shen Hongxiang kept tugging at her husband's sleeve.

Old Fang pulled out his sleeve and went to his study to make a phone call.

Old Fang said solemnly to his wife, "Hongxiang, I know you've always been devoted to me, and you never looked down on me for being a poor boy. I'll be grateful to you for the rest of my life. But Jinghua is already half-ruined, and Shengjie's favorite path might be gone. Our third son is still young, and I don't want to drag him down with us. Let's get a divorce!"

Shengjie and Lao San are with me. Mom likes Jinghua the most, so I let Jinghua stay with her.” After Lao Fang finished speaking, he started packing his clothes.

"Old Fang! How could you do this? We can talk this out." Shen Hongxiang cried.

The old lady was dumbfounded.

Deputy Division Commander Fang only packed a few sets of underwear for everyday wear. Soldiers all wear uniforms; there's no need for anything else. His youngest son, nine years old, was dragged out by his father. The guards were already waiting for him downstairs in their car.

None of these families are peaceful, but none are as badly affected as the old Fang family.

It was really early in the morning, before it was even time for work, when Commander Zhao dragged Director Qiao out of his house and made him take a good look at Wei Aiguo and see how he was doing.

Wei Aiguo was in good condition and could be discharged. Commander Zhao then made the decision to process his discharge.

Song Yan doesn't object to being discharged from the hospital, but where will she stay after being discharged?

Commander Zhao found a house for Song Yan, but Song Yan still had objections. The furniture in the house belonged to Deputy Commander Fang's mother-in-law, and Song Yan disagreed with that.

At this time, Fan Jianjun arrived, and naturally, he took his own people away. With a house secured, he borrowed pots, pans, and other household items from the army canteen.

Wei Aiguo has everything, including washbasins.

That's how we can get by.

Fan Jianjun and his driver got Wei Aiguo into the car, picked up Song Yan, and drove off—they were incredibly efficient.

Leave Commander Zhao behind and let him be bewildered in the wind.

Zhao Qiang thought about it and still couldn't figure it out. He needed to know where Wei Aiguo was. What if Lao Fang asked? He still needed to follow up on this matter and didn't want Wei Aiguo to mess it up.

When the Xu, Fang, Wang, and Qiu families came to visit, the ward was empty.

Not only them, but Xiang Zhoushan also came to pick up Song Yan to take Bai Shuang to see a doctor, only to find that they hadn't arrived.

Fan Jianjun contacted a brother unit. The house used to belong to a battalion commander, but he had just been transferred, so it was temporarily empty.
