Chapter 118 Good People and Bad People

There wasn't time to go back and cook, so Song Yan went into his spatial dimension to change clothes, grabbed some steamed buns and millet porridge, and headed to the hospital. Luckily, the medicine he had prepared was still in his spatial dimension!

Mr. Song still needs some more treatment, but Mrs. Song is much more energetic.

That's good.

After dinner, Song's mother urged Song Yan to go home and rest. Song Yan was worried about Xiaoxiao's mother, Aunt Guan.

After leaving the hospital, I went straight to the Jiang family's house.

Actually, Aunt Guan was already extremely anxious. How could Song Yan come back without bringing Xiaoxiao's letter? But the Song family was in chaos, and she was too embarrassed to ask.

Auntie was overjoyed to see Song Yan arrive. Song Yan brought not only Xiaoxiao's letter but also one hundred yuan.

"One hundred yuan?" Aunt Guan was extremely surprised. She knew how difficult it was to earn work points through farm work. "How could there be so much money?"

"Xiaoxiao told you to eat well and not to worry about the money." Of course, Song Yan couldn't come empty-handed. "These are mushrooms I picked from the mountains, they taste great! And these are pine nuts and hazelnuts."

Xiaoxiao once wrote to me saying she had to go to work and didn't have time to pick mushrooms, but there are actually plenty of mushrooms in the mountains.

These things were probably given to her by Xiaoyan. Xiaoxiao was able to save so much money probably because she ate at Xiaoyan's house.

Pine nuts are even harder to find.

Aunt Guan was speechless for a moment. "You are such a good child. How could the Song family be so heartless?"

"Thanks to my aunt for speaking up for me today!" Song Yan arrived.

"Don't worry, if anyone dares to say anything, I'll yell back at them. After what happened today, there won't be many people who dare to gossip anymore."

"Thank you, Auntie." This thank you was sincere; the original owner had eaten a lot of these foods with Xiaoxiao when she was little.

Every family was struggling financially, but Aunt Guan was never stingy. Especially since her mother-in-law was in poor health and constantly taking medicine, and there were many children in the family. Xiaoxiao had two younger brothers and sisters, so it was truly difficult for her to save food for the original owner of this body.

The youngest sister, Niu Niu, was the most affectionate. She clung to Song Yan's leg, and Song Yan picked her up, peeled a piece of fruit candy, and put it in her mouth. The other two brothers were older, and although they were greedy, they behaved very well. When Song Yan looked at them, they obediently called her "sister."

Song Yan put a handful of candy in Niu Niu's pocket, "Go and share the candy with your brother."

Niu Niu looked at her mother with her dark eyes.

So cute. She thinks that one piece of candy was given to her by Sister Xiaoyan, and she can have it, but a whole handful of candy is too much, so she has to ask her mother.

"Go ahead, go ahead!" Aunt Guan gave permission.

Niu Niu ran happily to find her brother…

After seeing Song Yan off, Aunt Guan was still thinking, "What a wonderful girl!"

It was still early, so Song Yan went to the bookstore. She wanted to buy some books on Western medicine, especially pediatrics. Wei An's illness last time had taught her a real-life lesson.

Song Yan wasn't particularly skilled in pediatrics, especially traditional Chinese medicine decoctions; children couldn't easily swallow Chinese medicine pills. Previously, Song Yan rarely treated children in her work.

Upon entering the Xinhua Bookstore, Song Yan was so overwhelmed by the sheer number of books that he completely forgot about time…

As Song Yan picked up another book, he noticed the bookstore's clock; it was 3:30.

Time to go home and cook.

Wouldn't it be letting the Song family benefit by not eating their grain?

The stove in the side room was lit to brew medicine for Song Ma.

Simmer some chicken soup in the room.

Then they went to the main house to cook.

The flour and grains in the cupboard were much less than in the morning, especially the rice, which was almost gone, and the oil bottle was empty. They must have been hidden away.

No one came out to watch her cook anymore. While she was in the kitchen, Song Yan put away the remaining noodles, cornmeal, sorghum rice, a cabbage, two radishes, and half a bag of potatoes.

Don't blame me for being unjust if you are heartless.

These few items are enough for Mr. and Mrs. Song to eat for three days.

When she came out, she took the oil bottle with her. Just then, her aunt came out and asked, "What are you doing with the oil bottle?"

After the family split up, doesn't Song Ma need an oil bottle? Get one for them.

"We're out of oil, I'll try to get some!" Song Yan was holding two small basins in his other hand.

What are you doing with that basin?

Song Yan looked at his aunt with the eyes of someone looking at an idiot, "Of course we'll use it!"

Song Yan went to the side room, and when his aunt saw that the kitchen cabinets were empty, she was furious. But she couldn't do anything about it; she simply couldn't control Song Yan.

That evening, her family faced even more unbearable hardship. Old Mrs. Song was to be sent to the machinery factory for "ideological education," and the entire Song family was required to attend. This included her aunt; the towel factory leadership had ordered her to attend the machinery factory's "educational meeting," meaning her quarterly bonus was gone…

Is the chicken soup really that good? Mr. and Mrs. Song each drank a bowl; it was so delicious that they didn't want to put the bowl down.

Mr. Song couldn't help but wonder if, after the family separated, Xiao Yan could make chicken soup for her when she returned to her parents' home.

After Song Yan left, Song's father couldn't help but tell Song's mother.

Song Ma also looked forward to being able to make chicken soup for her daughter in the future. How about making chicken soup for her daughter someday? How does Xiao Yan make it? I'll ask her and make it just as delicious for her next time.

"Xiaoyan gave me back fifty yuan!" There were only two people in the ward, but Song Ma still lowered her voice, afraid that others would hear.

Mr. Song was happy; his family was now rich!

If Song Yan knew, she would definitely sigh. She was afraid that Song's mother wouldn't be able to hold onto the money, so she didn't dare give her too much.

“Even when I don’t have a cold, I often feel uncomfortable. After drinking the medicine Xiaoyan prescribed, I feel much better.” Song’s mother couldn’t believe that her daughter was so effective all of a sudden.

"I never thought we could live a different life. I thought this was how my life would be!" Mr. Song looked unwell; he had lost a lot of blood at the time.
