Chapter 91 Let's move out

He Jianian is a man that a girl should not continue to live with.

“Song Zhiqing! You have the confession in your hands, so you can send He Jianian to jail whenever you want. But I have something to tell you. I plan to make them divorce after Meili gave birth. I want you to wait until they completely sever ties before you file a lawsuit.” Captain Wu said very seriously.

Sure enough, once the confession was presented, the captain became uneasy. "Are you really planning to make them divorce? I didn't actually intend to send He Jianian to jail. This is just him admitting his mistakes." Song Yan remained unchanged.

"Then why did you ask him to write all this?" Captain Wu asked.

“If I had this intention, I would have sent him to prison the first time, and I wouldn’t have waited until now. Brigade leader, you’ve always been good to the villagers and us educated youth. Just for that reason, I can’t let you lose face outside because of my relentless pursuit. If I did that, everyone in Qingshan Brigade would feel sorry for me.” The words were kind, and the brigade leader felt a warm glow in his heart.

“I let him off the hook back then, I never expected him to stab me in the back. I really don’t trust someone like that. I have something on him, he won’t dare to cause trouble again. I’m really afraid he’ll fabricate facts to report me. Many of those in labor reform were reported by others. It’s even more effective if someone close to us reports them. After all, He Jianian grew up with us, and outsiders think we know him inside and out. I can’t let my guard down!” Song Yan patted his pocket. “He Jianian must hate me to death. His apology is just lip service.”

After Captain Wu returned home, he lay down on the kang (a heated brick bed) without saying a word. His wife was a little frightened. "Honey, what's wrong? I know what happened today was awful. That educated youth Song, couldn't she have kept quiet? And Jianian, she never learns her lesson, why did you provoke her?"

For a long time, she thought she wouldn't get an answer from her husband, but then Captain Wu slowly said, "He Jianian won't be satisfied until she gets revenge on him. He borrowed money and didn't pay it back, and he even stole money. He was caught red-handed, and he still tried to drag Song Zhiqing down with him. Do you think he hates me for not doing everything he could to help him? He was able to marry Meili by begging on his knees. Was it his own choice, or was he forced into it?"

“He and Meili are already like that. He still doesn’t want to marry her. He must be doing it willingly,” the team leader’s wife said.

"No, there's no place for him among the educated youth. Even if he doesn't marry Meili, I won't let him go. Marrying Meili is the only path he can take." Song Yan's words made the team leader tremble with fear.

He Jianian definitely hates him, and maybe even Meili. If Meili hadn't stirred things up that day, making a scene, they might not have caught him.

He's my son-in-law, right under my nose, and he can see everything I do. I can't possibly claim to be completely selfless. If he notices something and adds some embellishments, others will surely believe it's all true.

“He must hate me, maybe even me,” Wu Dayong, who had been lying on the kang without saying a word, finally spoke.

The captain's wife was surprised, "He still hates you?"

Wu Dayong nodded affirmatively. "When Sun Akun tied him up, he wanted my help, but I didn't. I could tell he hated me!"

"So what if he hates me? What can he do? It's just that my sister is blind to insist on marrying him." Wu Dagang was furious; his sister had made a complete fool of herself.

My two brothers-in-law were both there, but neither of them offered to help.

The son's idea further solidified the brigade leader's plan: "Go and call your sister over."

"What's wrong, Dad?" Wu Dayong asked.

"You two, find a few more people to repair the house where Lao Han and the others lived last year, and let your sister move out," Captain Wu instructed his son.

"That dilapidated house?" Wu Dagang and his brother were a little dumbfounded.

"Do what I tell you to do!" The father was angry, and the sons dared not say another word.

The team leader's wife was also dumbfounded. "That's our daughter! How much suffering will she have to endure if we send her there?"

"Shut up! It's all your fault for spoiling her. I didn't want to argue with you, so I listened to you, but you've spoiled her so much that she's become unruly and stupid. Do you think she can stay at her parents' house forever? It's time to teach her a lesson from now on!"

Wu Meili remained lying on the kang (a heated brick bed), ignoring He Jianian even when he returned.

He Jianian wasn't in the mood to deal with Wu Meili at the moment. He was wondering what Song Yan would do with his confession. If he didn't write it, he'd be in the police station immediately. If he did, Song Yan might let him off temporarily because of the captain's influence. So he had no choice but to write it. But he'd have to find a way to get it back later.

In reality, He Jianian was just thinking about it; he would never have another chance to get close to Song Yan again. Just as Song Yan had predicted, to prevent Song Yan from reporting him, he didn't dare to cause any more trouble for Song Yan.

Just then, Wu Dayong shouted, "Meili, Dad's calling you!"

Wu Meili is currently staying in the side room of her own house. She knows her father is in a bad mood today, so she didn't dare to linger.

When Song Yan said that divorce could sever all ties, Captain Wu was tempted. He went to see Meili alone, and He Jianian, worried about him, immediately went with him.

Upon seeing these two troublesome fellows enter, the brigade leader irritably picked up his pipe. He rarely smoked. Only after taking a few puffs did he say, "I've asked your brother to clean up the houses in front of the educated youth settlement. You two will have to move out from now on."

"How am I supposed to live in that house? If you want me to move out, then you should make Lao Han give up his house for me!" Wu Meili didn't want to live in a drafty house.

"If you don't like the house, then ask your man for it. A woman marries a man for food and clothing. I've never heard of a girl asking her own father for a house instead of her husband. You're not young anymore, you're about to become a mother, how can you say such a thing?" Captain Wu's words made He Jianian look embarrassed.
