Chapter 252 Meeting in the Ward

Song Yan left a note explaining the situation and also wrote down anything else he remembered he needed. Cao Zhang would see it when he came to pick up the goods.

Song Yan wasn't afraid of Cao Zhang tricking her. If she gave all these things away for free, her spatial storage would increase exponentially!

Song Yan checked his watch; there was plenty of time. After eating, he headed to the train station…

The train swayed and rattled for almost two days and two nights before finally arriving in Zhejiang Province.

It wasn't peak travel season, so the train wasn't crowded. Song Yan avoided eating with the others, hiding in the area between the carriages to take food out of her spatial storage when no one was around. She would put the food away whenever someone approached. At least she wouldn't suffer from food shortages for the next few days. But sitting for so long wasn't just tiring; the train was also stuffy and hot.

When Song Yan got off the train, her feet touched the ground, but she still felt unsteady. She carried a large cardboard box and a canvas bag out of the train station and immediately saw someone holding a sign that read "Comrade Song Yan" high above her head. Looking down, she saw a young man in military uniform.

Song Yan walked over, and the comrade immediately asked him, "Are you Comrade Song Yan?"

Song Yan nodded.

"Hello, sister-in-law! I am Commander Zhao, Miao Huan, Commander Zhao Qiang's bodyguard. Our commander sent me to pick you up." The young soldier stood straight and gave Song Yan a military salute.

Commander Zhao Qiang? The "Deputy" part has been removed.

"Thank you for picking me up." Song Yan was still a little embarrassed.

"Sister-in-law, let's go!" The young soldier warmly took the things from Song Yan's hands.

"I still have things to check in." Song Yan checked in his backpack.

"Sister-in-law, give me the baggage claim ticket, and I'll get it for you," Miao Huan said warmly.

This was Song Yan's first time shipping something, so it would be best if someone could help her.

Miao Huan was a very thoughtful young man. He first helped Song Yan into a military jeep before going to retrieve his checked luggage.

Song Yan really couldn't sit still in the car. Even when the car was parked in the shade, it was unbearably hot inside.

About an hour later, Miao Huan returned. He put his large backpack into the car. "Sister-in-law, let's go!"

Song Yan asked about Wei Aiguo's injuries in the car. Miao Huan said he injured his arm and leg, but the doctor said they would heal.

He hadn't mentioned his arm injury before. Seeing Miao Huan's attitude, Song Yan was relieved; it shouldn't be anything serious.

When the captain gave Song Yan the address, he said someone would pick him up at the train station. Song Yan assumed the hospital was nearby. He dozed off for a bit after getting in the car, then opened his eyes and checked his watch. Miao Huan had been driving for two hours, and they still hadn't arrived.

"Comrade Miao Huan, how much further?" Song Yan couldn't help but ask.

"Sister-in-law, we've reached a county town ahead. Let's grab a bite to eat, and we should be there around four o'clock," Miao Huan replied, focused on driving.

It's almost midnight now, and we won't arrive until 4 PM. That means we're still a long way off!

Not hearing Song Yan's voice, Miao Huan explained, "Sister-in-law, let's drive back. We can get there today. If you take the bus, you'll have to transfer twice, and you won't get there today."

Song Yan had no objections, he was just tired from the car ride. "I'm the one causing trouble for the army!"

“Sister-in-law, military families have it tough. You don’t need to be so polite with me. I met you in J City. You are truly admirable!” Miao Huan said.

Song Yan recalled carefully, but this young man wasn't with Zhao Qiang, who was then the deputy division commander! "You went too?"

“Yes, I was there when you delivered the message to the dilapidated courtyard! But later I was sent out by my division commander to complete other tasks. I haven’t seen you since,” Miao Huan said.

Song Yan: "You are the ones who protect our country, and you are the ones who deserve our respect."

Embarrassed by such direct praise, Miao Huan blushed slightly. He just chuckled, unsure of what to say…

At 4:10, Song Yan finally arrived at the military hospital where Wei Aiguo was staying.

"Sister-in-law, Sixth Brother is in room 213 on the second floor. Go see him first. I'll call our division commander. I'll bring your things up to you in a bit!" Miao Huan finished speaking and drove away.

Miao Huan said that Wei Aiguo was sixth in rank in the recruit training class, and even after he was transferred, he was still sixth in his new class. When elite soldiers from various companies were transferred for training, his performance still ranked sixth, so Wei Aiguo earned the nickname "Sixth Brother." Those older than him called him "Sixth Brother"...

The hospital was very clean and the environment was excellent; the medical facilities were clearly top-notch.

Song Yan went up to the second floor.

"...Why did Fang Jinghua and Wei Aiguo get into this stalemate?"

"Fang Jinghua is beautiful, and her father is a deputy division commander. She's always looked up to wherever she goes! Especially male soldiers and male doctors, they all fawn over her! It's just that this guy surnamed Wei who ignores her."

"You have to admit, he's really impressive. He earned a second-class merit when he was a new recruit, and I heard he's earned another one this time. His future looks very bright."

"That's not important. Don't you think the guy surnamed Wei looks like a real soldier?"

"Nonsense, everyone here is a soldier, and they all seem like soldiers!"

Song Yan overheard the idle chatter of several nurses in the nurses' office. She glanced inside, and one of the nurses noticed her. "Comrade, is there something you need?"

"Hello! Excuse me, where is ward 213?"

Song Yan's words immediately drew the attention of several nurses.

The nurse who asked the question was surprised and didn't speak, but pointed to the east.

Song Yan sensed something was wrong. She turned and headed east.

The first ward in the east corridor is number 225, followed by 223, 221... all odd numbers. Song Yan followed the number and arrived at 213.
