Chapter 94 Departure

Mail was sent to Wei Aiguo by alternating between the commune and the county. Sending large packages frequently from the same place would be too conspicuous.

After mailing the package at the county post office, Song Yan went straight to the train station. He asked about the train schedule and found that the afternoon train would arrive in the provincial capital late at night. He decided to take the train that arrived around 10 p.m. and arrive the next morning, making it convenient for him to do whatever he wanted today.

Song Yan bought his train ticket and headed to the house Qin Laoda had found for him, taking a lot of things with him. He had two thousand pounds of fresh, crisp cabbage alone. Vegetables were scarce in winter, but cabbage was too common; even if it was expensive, the price wouldn't make a difference. It was a good thing that so many people could have vegetables to eat.

Qin was overjoyed. Even at this point, Song Yan still had so many good things to offer. He was making a fortune!

Old Qin also paid attention to the nearby communes, checking where chickens and rabbits were raised, but found no large-scale operations. He also checked the transport teams, but never saw any dates or apples from the south. These things seemed plentiful, but they weren't conspicuous in the transport teams. How could there be no clue after so many trips? Old Qin couldn't figure out the reason.

Song Yan was also happy. She could handle the wholesale, leaving the rest to Boss Qin, saving herself time and effort. This time, she sold over five hundred fish alone. She could easily become a ten-thousand-yuan household!

After successfully handing over the goods to Boss Qin, Song Yan, as usual, wandered around the black market and bought whatever he needed.

Recently, the space has become a bit larger, so Song Yan fenced off a section to raise ducks and geese.

To be honest, Song Yan would rather raise pigs and sheep. But piglets and lambs are hard to buy, and besides, boars need to be castrated! Song Yan has never raised them before and doesn't know how. Wouldn't raising sheep be easier? He could fence off a section for grazing once he has enough space.

If you happen to come across lambs for sale, buy some and try raising them.

Surprisingly, Song Yan was quite lucky today, finding a place selling live ducks, both male and female. At this time of year, most people sell pre-killed, frozen ducks; live ducks are more expensive. But Song Yan didn't mind the higher price.

Song Yan slowly walked out of the black market carrying four ducks, two males and two females. The black market had moved. To the left after exiting was a residential area, and to the right was the road leading out of the county town.

Song Yan walked to the left, entered an alley, and turned left again at the end of the alley.

Two men peered cautiously to the left from the end of the alley. "Where are they? They went to the left!"

There was no one in either direction of the alley. The two men stomped their feet in anger, "How could that little wench disappear in the blink of an eye?"

“Brother Ugly Boy, the boss has repeatedly warned us not to mess with this woman. Is she skilled or not…” said the man following behind Ugly Boy.

"Shut up!" The clown's sore spot was being knocked down and trampled underfoot by Song Yan. The moment the man mentioned Song Yan's skill, the clown became enraged. "You big, burly guy, are you a piece of trash?! Can't you handle her?"

"Won't the boss be angry if he finds out?" the man behind the clown asked innocently.

"If we could get the source of the goods directly from that woman, the price difference would be substantial. Would the boss still be angry with us? Damn it, that woman is too cunning!" The clown stomped away angrily.

Song Yan, inside the space, could hear everything outside clearly.

She felt followed as soon as she left the black market, but it turned out to be one of Boss Qin's men. Judging from their tone, Boss Qin was unaware of their presence. Next time, she'd give Boss Qin a heads-up: if he can control his men, then cooperation is possible; if not… there's no need to cooperate with someone like that.

Song Yan waited a while longer, making sure no one was outside, before changing her clothes and going out. Even if that clown hadn't left, he wouldn't have recognized Song Yan if she had walked right past him.

Song Yan arrived at the train station and checked into a guesthouse in front of it. These days, there are no hourly rooms; you pay for the entire night. Song Yan was financially comfortable now and wouldn't skimp on himself.

It was only noon, and there weren't many guests yet. Song Yan had booked a double room; she would take one bed, and the other would be empty. The guesthouse had double rooms, four-person rooms, and dormitory-style rooms. A double room was the best option. However, rooms couldn't be booked in person; each person could have one bed, and the other bed would be used whenever someone came.

Song Yan was a little worried. What if someone with a child came, or someone who was extremely dirty? If Song Yan complained that the person was dirty or noisy, he could be immediately reported for having capitalist behavior.

Although he wouldn't be staying for long, he wanted to feel comfortable. There was hot water at the front desk, so Song Yan took his teacup to get some. "Hello! Comrade, I'd like some hot water."

The waitress fiddled with her notebook, then gestured with her lip, "Here, pour it yourself!"

A row of kettles sat next to the service desk. Song Yan picked one up and filled it with water. "Comrade, are there more guests at night?"

"Yes!" the waitress said lazily.

Song Yan handed the waitress a small bag of red dates. "My train leaves tonight, and I'd like to take a good nap this afternoon. Could you perhaps arrange for someone to stay in my room a little later?"

The waitress was taken aback. She opened the paper package and exclaimed, "Wow, these red dates are really good!" She immediately smiled and asked, "What time is your train?"

"Around 10 p.m.!"

"It's my shift tonight too. You go to sleep, I'll wake you up at nine." The waitress decided that she would arrange for someone to be sent to Song Yan's room after nine o'clock.

After thanking them happily, the first thing Song Yan did upon returning to his room was to lock the door and head into his spatial dimension to eat! His stomach was completely empty!

The space is now getting larger. Upon entering, there's a place where Song Yan stores his harvest, cooks, and has a large stone mill. Next to the storage area, Song Yan has set up a simple bed. Neatly arranged beside the bed are some of Song Yan's small belongings.

Then there are patches of various crops planted in the fields, and at the farthest point of the space are chickens, rabbits, fishponds, and now ducks have been added.

Everything was neat and tidy, a pleasure to look at.

After eating and drinking his fill, Song Yan resumed his daily study routine. Only when he was exhausted did Song Yan emerge from his spatial dimension and lie on his bed for a good night's sleep.

At 9 p.m. sharp, the waiter knocked on Song Yan's door, and Song Yan began his experience.

Why is it an "experience tour"? Because it's not a time when you can just scan your ID card to board the train. The line at the ticket gate stretched for over ten meters because someone had cut in line, and some passengers were upset, saying, "Why are you cutting in line?"

"I'm willing, it's none of your business."

"How dare they cut in line like that? Where are the station staff? Come out and do something about it!"

It was noisy and chaotic. Song Yan kept his distance, figuring he'd get a seat anyway. What difference did it make whether he boarded early or late?

"Line up, line up, tickets are being checked!" The staff member shouted, and the people in line stirred up a commotion again.

The long queue moved slowly, but once past the ticket gate, it was like a start-up switch had been pressed; most people were jogging, and those who couldn't run any faster were trying to quicken their pace as they rushed towards the platform…
