When Shen Dongqi was about to leave, Wei Aiguo asked Song Yan, "You have something to do tomorrow, but if you don't have anything to do the day after tomorrow, why don't you go to the police station? It's not good for people to be locked up in the police station all the time."
Even if Song Yan doesn't go to the police station, they can release him themselves. But if some people want to find fault with their families, then this is their fault.
The person involved didn't say anything was wrong, so how did you get out?
If you're going to give a favor, it's best to give something modest. Wei Aiguo had Song Yan personally explain that it was a misunderstanding. That would completely erase the matter.
Shen Dongqi was indeed asked by several people to inquire about this matter, but he did not open his mouth.
"Brother, thanks! I've had a lot of trouble with those women. The division commander said you agreed not to pursue it. But the people are still out there!"
I'll drive to pick up my brother and sister-in-law the day after tomorrow...
Early in the morning, Song Yan and Sister He set off to enjoy the cooler air. Besides Song Yan's two neighbors, one to the east and one to the west, two other women, both wives of the company commander, accompanied them. Song Yan couldn't remember their surnames.
Unexpectedly, Wang Cuixiang came along too. Sister Tian whispered to Song Yan, "Everyone goes out in groups of several people, and she just goes with whoever she bumps into."
It means nobody wants to take her along.
As they walked and chatted, Song Yan learned that everyone had come out to pick sheep mushrooms. There were people secretly buying them, and they fetched quite a high price.
After entering the mountains, Sister He kept Song Yan with her, not letting her stray too far, afraid that Song Yan would get lost. They were frequent visitors and could find their way back on their own if they got separated. But Song Yan couldn't walk back by herself.
Following He's instructions, Song Yan took a stick and pried open the area in front of him to scare the snake away.
When Sister He found the first sheep mushroom, Song Yan realized it was a morel mushroom!
This is a good product; it's never cheap.
People scattered to look for sheep mushrooms.
Sheep mushrooms are not easy to find. Their color is not obvious, and with dead leaves blocking the view, you really have to keep a close eye on the ground to find them.
After searching for a while, Song Yan started cheating.
Song Yan soon returned to the spot where Sister He had picked mushrooms, squatting down and slowly rummaging through the ground. Actually, she had sprinkled spring water on the ground, and sheep mushrooms had indeed grown there.
Harvesting is secondary; planting it in the space is more important.
The vegetation here was different, and Song Yan discovered several kinds of Chinese medicinal herbs. He dug them up and planted them in his own medicinal herb garden.
There was a sound! Song Yan slowly put down the bamboo basket.
You heard right, it's a pheasant! Song Yan dashed off, startling Aunt He who was standing nearby. A moment later, Song Yan returned carrying a pheasant.
"You're really amazing, you even have this skill!" Mrs. He praised.
"We'll have meat tonight!" Song Yan tied chicken feet to the side of the bamboo basket.
To be honest, this pheasant isn't as good as the ones raised in the space. I'll change it when I go back to eat it.
Sister He had brought her into the mountains; her clothes and bamboo basket were hers. Song Yan didn't want to owe anyone favors. She wandered around the area, found a spot with lots of dry grass, pressed it down, and discovered many wild eggs in her storage space.
"Sister-in-law He... Sister-in-law He..."
Aunt He came over when she heard the noise. "What's wrong?"
"Come on, come and take a look!" Song Yan deliberately parted the withered grass.
"Oh!" A nest of wild eggs, blue with some brown, was revealed.
Song Yan picked up five and handed them to Sister He, saying, "Here you go!"
"That won't do! Take it back and give it to Xiao Wei to help him recover!" Sister He didn't reach out.
“These eggs might have chicks inside, they won’t keep long. Take them back for the kids. Your eldest son shouldn’t be doing all this work for nothing, should he? I still have some pheasants, don’t I?” Song Yan shoved the eggs into Sister He’s hands without a word.
Everyone's struggling these days, with shortages of supplies. Wild eggs are really tempting, especially since they're meant for the kids. So, Sister He accepted them.
"What are you doing here?" Wang Cuixiang asked.
Song Yan and Sister-in-law He both thought at the same time, "Luckily, we collected the wild eggs."
Everyone carried a bamboo basket on their back and a hand basket in their hand. The goat mushrooms were put in the hand basket, and the other mushrooms were thrown into the basket on their back.
Wang Cuixiang immediately started grabbing at Sister He's basket, and Sister He couldn't dodge it.
"You've picked quite a few!" Wang Cuixiang said, then looked at Song Yan's. Song Yan simply handed it to her to see.
“Yours has more than mine, and it’s bigger too!” she said as she reached for Song Yan’s basket.
"That's enough for me to show you." Song Yan quickly put the basket away, and the others went back to picking mushrooms.
Wang Cuixiang grabbed at empty air, and she was furious. She muttered, "So stingy! What's wrong with taking a few?"
Song Yan has excellent hearing; she heard everything clearly! She wanted to take advantage of him without his permission—how dare she!
While wandering in the mountains, Song Yan encountered pheasants and other wild animals, but she didn't catch any; one was enough for her to eat.
Sister He didn't stay out all day; considering that Song Yan was worried about home, she called everyone to go home early.
"Why are you going home so early today!" Wang Cuixiang muttered. But no one paid her any attention.
No one had many morel mushrooms in their baskets. If you picked a whole basketful at once, they wouldn't be worth much.
Song Yan and Sister He had picked the most. Song Yan had put wild vegetables in his basket, and Wang Cuixiang wanted to rummage through them too. Song Yan was speechless; fine, let her look if she wants!
"Why are you picking so many wild vegetables? There are plenty of vegetables in the yard!" Wang Cuixiang stared at Song Yan's pheasant.
Of course we ate the wild vegetables! These were taken from my spatial storage!
"Oh dear, so you don't have enough food! Sister-in-law He, why don't you return the garden to your sister-in-law?" Wang Cuixiang said as if she had discovered a secret.
Song Yan was completely baffled. What garden? Where did she get a garden from?
Sister-in-law He immediately felt uncomfortable.
Sister Tian was a little angry, but she still said to Song Yan, "In order to ensure that everyone has vegetables to eat, the army gave each family a plot of land to grow their own garden, which is located to the east of where we live. The family that used to live in your house moved out, and Sister He grew the garden there."
