Song Ma's first reaction was to back away in fright.
The room was warm, and the old lady immediately realized it was from burning her own coal. "You good-for-nothing! You gave birth to a bastard! Get out of the Song family!"
"Bastard!" These words pierced Song Ma's heart.
“You’re talking nonsense. Everyone can attest that my Xiaoyan was born prematurely! You’ve been arrested by the police, and you’re still spouting nonsense?” Song’s mother insisted on one thing: no one could say that Song Yan was a bastard.
Being arrested by the police was a blow to Old Mrs. Song's heart.
Grandma Song raised her hand and slapped Song Ma across the face. The old lady wasn't strong, so it didn't hurt, but she remembered what Xiao Yan and Song's father had said: run away when there were many people around!
The old lady was too dangerous to fight, and the others were no match for her. So, Song Ma turned and ran.
My aunt was always on guard against Song Ma running away. If she had been at home that day, things wouldn't have gotten so out of hand, and she wouldn't have had to attend those educational meetings every day.
Song Ma, who was thin, was pulled back by her overweight sister-in-law.
…As long as you're not afraid of them, they won't dare do anything to you. If they can't kill you, fight back. The weak fear the strong, and the strong fear the reckless…
Her daughter's words lingered in Song Ma's mind.
These days, Song Ma has been thinking about what her daughter said all the time.
I'm reckless. The old lady even called my daughter a bastard. I'll risk my life for her.
The older sister-in-law held on tightly, and Song Ma lowered her head and bit her hand.
"Ouch!" The eldest aunt let go of her hand in pain and pushed Song Yan's mother onto her younger brother.
Caught off guard, Song Huadong was hurt by the impact. He was already furious when he entered the house, and the fact that someone who was usually as soft as a cotton ball dared to resist only fueled Song Huadong's anger.
That good-for-nothing can't control his wife, he won't even lay a hand on her. Today I'll teach him a lesson myself.
Song Huadong would beat her wherever he went. Poor Song's mother, even though she fought back desperately, was beaten powerless to resist.
"Did you remember? You have to be filial to my mother."
"Kneel down and apologize to my mother."
Song Huadong pressed Song Ma down, making her kowtow to the old lady.
"Tell that bastard of yours to come back and kowtow to admit his mistake."
Bastard!
Already dizzy and disoriented, Song Ma heard the words "bastard" again. "My daughter is not a bastard!"
She suddenly sprang to her feet while half-kneeling. She didn't have the strength to hit anyone, so she abruptly grabbed Song Huadong's neck with both hands and slammed her head against him.
Song Huadong was taller than Song Ma, and Song Ma's head bumped into Song Huadong's face.
Song Ma used almost all her strength, and after the impact, she collapsed limply.
Song Huadong covered his nose, took several steps back, and remained silent for a long time.
Old Mrs. Song yelled, "You jinx, you bitch!"
The eldest aunt was also a little scared, as she had never seen Song Ma so ruthless before.
"My son, my dear son!" When Old Mrs. Song saw blood dripping from Song Huadong's nose, she was heartbroken.
Song Ma lay motionless on the ground for a long time. The eldest aunt grew anxious, but they couldn't let anyone die in their house! "Mom, Mom, is she going to die?"
Only then did Song Huadong and the old lady look at Song Ma.
"Go, go quickly! If she's going to die, it's her own fault, it has nothing to do with us." Old Mrs. Song grabbed her son and ran outside.
The eldest aunt finally came out after a long while, cursing the old lady for being biased.
She was panicked when she ran into the yard. She was so frightened that she quickly locked the gate.
She didn't want anyone else to see it!
"Mom, do you think I could beat her to death? No, I didn't beat her. She hit me and killed me." Song Huadong's nose hurt terribly, and tears streamed down his face. But he was even more afraid that if his sister-in-law died, he wouldn't be able to explain himself.
"Who hit her! Nobody hit her! Nobody hit her, she's the one who's unfilial!" Old Mrs. Song yelled at her son...
After leaving her aunt's house, Song Yan went to the bookstore and bought a few more books.
Song Yan returned happily after a fruitful haul, but when he reached out to push the door, it wouldn't open.
It's almost time for Song Cheng and the others to get off work, why is the door locked at home?
A bad feeling suddenly crept into Song Yan's heart. The courtyard wall wasn't very high, and without hesitation, Song Yan climbed over it and went inside.
Upon entering the side room, Song Yan nearly exploded with anger. His mother, Song Ma, was sitting on the floor, her face bruised and swollen.
The day after Song Yan returned, Song's father was hospitalized. She was so busy taking care of everything that she didn't have time to solve the accommodation problem. Renting a place or applying for housing from the factory would both take time. Little did she know that Song's mother would suffer such a great loss.
Song Yan quickly pulled Song's mother up, as the ground was cold.
Song Ma didn't faint just now; she was simply too weak.
“Xiaoyan, you’re right. They wouldn’t dare kill me. They thought they’d killed me and ran away. He Xiaofen pulled me, so I bit her. Song Huadong hit me, so I rammed into him. They can’t call you a bastard. I can’t let them say that about you!” Song’s mother was still dizzy.
"Mom, where does it hurt?" Song Yan asked as he checked his mother's injury.
It didn't injure any vital organs, nor did it break any bones.
"Who hit you?" Song Yan asked through gritted teeth.
Song Ma recounted what had happened, and although it was a bit confusing, Song Yan understood it.
He Xiaofen is the name of her eldest aunt.
Grandma Song, Song Huadong, and He Xiaofen were all involved. How arrogant you are! You will all pay the price for what happened today.
"No, I need to get a chicken," Song Yan muttered to himself.
After a while, Song Ma calmed down and grabbed Song Yan, thinking that he wanted to buy chickens for her to eat. "I only took a few punches and kicks, I can recover quickly, I can't spend money on things."
