"The dragon is born in the sea, spanning the seven oceans and soaring into the sky. It divides the yin and yang energies, and determines the distinction between day and night, and the order of the four seasons. With the help of Ziwei, it flies in the sky, divides into four groups, and protects the ten tribes. Then it holds a seven-day banquet." Gong Yizhu read these words softly.
Zhen Shuangliu frowned and looked at him, not understanding what he meant.
If the world of immortal cultivation had history books, the above passage would be the first lesson in the subject. Zhen Shuangliu had used it to teach Luo Jiujiang, but he didn't expect Gong Yizhu to repeat it to him now.
"After the Seven-Day Banquet, there were countless descriptions of Shenlong's achievements. However, even after repeating them dozens of times, Shenlong's achievements were still nothing more than the creation of the universe. After 431 words of lavish praise, it was mentioned that Shenlong went insane and died... This is the most standard answer in all official and unofficial histories."
Zhen Shuangliu said impatiently, "Shenlong Kaitian, you can find any mortal to say it, do you need to teach me?"
Even a python's brain isn't as big as a fist. As a snake charmer, he's been around snakes all day, so he'd have been assimilated long ago. How much brain power would he have left? Gong Yizhu comforted himself with this thought before angrily saying, "I've already told you this, and you don't see the problem? This is a trick in the order of the narrative."
"The Dragon God created the universe... Speaking of the Dragon God's achievements... his only achievement is the creation of the universe... The Dragon God's death..." Zhen Shuangliu repeated this several times. When he looked up again, his eyes were filled with horror. "The Dragon God died of exhaustion after creating the universe. Was the division of the three thousand worlds a calamity that someone else had committed on the Dragon God's head?"
The myths and history he had heard since childhood, universally acknowledged throughout the Three Thousand Worlds, had been overturned, leaving Zhen Shuangliu with an incalculable sense of astonishment. However, faced with this answer, Gong Yizhu rolled his eyes ungraciously.
Gongyi Zhu: "..."
After this lesson, Gong Yizhu will never give him any questions to do again in his life.
He lamented inwardly that with his idiotic brain, he wondered how Cangjiang had taught him the art of killing with sound, while diligently breaking down the characters and explaining, "It's true that the Dragon God separated yin and yang energies and single-handedly created the Primordial Chaos. It's also true that the Dragon God went mad before his death. The only thing that's not true is that the order of the Seven-Day Feast and the eulogy of the Dragon God's achievements is reversed... This way, it makes it seem as if the Dragon God held a grand banquet after creating the world, accomplished countless feats later, and then suddenly went mad."
Ignoring Zhen Shuangliu's reaction, Gong Yizhu dipped his tea in the water and drew a diagram on the table. "Actually, from the moment the Dragon God successfully opened the heavens to the moment he went 'mad,' the entire process took less than a day."
"In other words, the Dragon God successfully created the world in the morning and began to destroy it in the evening."
"What you're saying doesn't make sense." Zhen Shuangliu was so confused by Gong Yizhu's words, "To lose it the next day is so careless and frivolous. Even a street kid wouldn't do that with a new ball."
"So we have to add another process." Gong Yizhu sighed, dipped his slender white fingers in tea, and added a seven between the lines of "beginning" and "extinction".
"The Seven-Day Banquet isn't just a feast hosted by the Dragon God. It's the time it takes for the Dragon God to split the world into over three thousand pieces. It's... the entire world's celebration of the Dragon God."
"..." Even if Zhen Shuangliu was a bit clueless, he understood. He stared at the three words written in tea on the table until they dried naturally, leaving a few light tea stains on the pearwood.
"Qiuniu, your explanation is even more terrifying than what I just said. You're saying that the Dragon God had just used all his strength to open up the world, and at his weakest moment, the creatures of the cultivation world attacked him. The Dragon God struggled desperately, and it took him seven days to finally die. And these seven days were named the 'Seven Days Banquet'?"
Gong Yizhu propped his forehead with one hand, his thoughts drifting completely to the inherited memories: "The Dragon God opened up the chaos. Clear air became the sky, turbid air became the earth. The universe was divided into sun and moon, and yin and yang regulated the sea and sky. This achievement was assisted by the Four Symbols and Nine Clans, but to the countless creatures who had walked in ignorance for years, they only noticed a sudden light before their eyes, and the next moment they appeared in a brand new land."
"The moment the new world was created, the Nine Clans suddenly launched an attack. First, the Vermillion Bird was sealed and nailed to death, instantly transforming into a young hatchling. Then, Azure Dragon, due to its similar appearance, had always been relied upon by the Dragon God. However, having expended too much energy on the creation of the universe, it was no longer able to recover. White Tiger and Black Tortoise, seeing the situation was dire, retreated to the sidelines and watched. Then, the Nine Clans, who had been gathering strength, soared into the sky, baring their sharp fangs and claws at the Dragon God. Thus began the Seven Days of World Sundering."
"The slaughter lasted seven days, and the Dragon God struggled for seven whole days. During these seven days, although the newly formed world was shattered into over three thousand pieces, the entire process could truly be called a grand feast—the Dragon God's blood poured into the vast oceans and land, causing the seas to boil, spring to return, dying creatures to regain vitality, and the last remnants of chaos to be purified. The Dragon God's scales then scattered in all directions, transforming into an endless mine of spiritual stones. Every drop of blood He shed, every scale He shed, was the purest and most flawless spiritual power."
Having said this, Gong Yizhu slowly took a sip of tea and said, "Everything that happens next should be easier for you to imagine."
It is indeed easier for Zhen Shuangliu to think of it, because he grew up in darkness and knows best how ugly the dark and profit-seeking side of all living things in the world can be.
He closed his eyes. It was clearly a hundred thousand years ago, an old event he would never witness, yet as he described it indifferently, it seemed as if it were happening right before his eyes: "The Dragon God suffered his first wound, and the first drop of blood fell. When that drop of blood transformed into spiritual energy and dissipated between heaven and earth... every living being in the new world drew their butcher knives against the Dragon God."
Gong Yizhu nodded silently.
