Chapter 48: Metamorphosis

Xie Chuncan waited obediently outside the stone tablet and did not leave, but what happened after he was brought into the cave was still a bit troublesome.

Luo Jiujiang and Feng Xue sat side by side, watching with numb expressions as Xiao Ren drew his sword as soon as he saw Xie Chuncan, and chased and surrounded him in the cave, one after the other. The cave was not big to begin with, and with the two of them bringing out all the momentum, it was quite lively.

Xie Chuncan was clearly quite comfortable dealing with Xiao Ren. In a fit of mischief, he didn't fight back, but dodged left and right, while simultaneously demanding justice from Feng Xue with a smile: "What kind of hospitality is this? You don't even care about your good sister? I suggest you blindfold her, otherwise there's bound to be trouble."

Feng Xue said coldly: "Then let her chase you enough first and then we can talk."

"Thank you, Brother." Luo Jiujiang sighed helplessly. If Xie Chuncan always wore this provocative smile when visiting the Feng Xue sisters, he would understand why the three of them were at odds. "How can you let Miss Xiao Ren blindfold herself? Brother Xie, just put on a hood and the problem will be solved."

Xie Chuncan: "..." He asked angrily, "Which side are you on?"

"Brother Xie, stop talking." Luo Jiujiang glanced at Xiaoren, whose eyes had turned a faint red. He quickly seized an opportunity to pull Xie Chuncan to his side, pulled his fur coat over his head and face, and handed him a half-gray plant root. "Don't cause trouble. Eat, eat."

After this half-joking, half-laughing interlude, the atmosphere in the cave relaxed considerably. Feng Xue called Xiao Ren to her side and repeatedly reassured her not to worry about Xie Chuncan. Meanwhile, Luo Jiujiang, after struggling several times to get his fur coat back without success, sighed helplessly and shivered through his thin clothing.

Feng Xue offered one arm to Xiao Ren, letting her hold it in her arms. With the other hand, she used it as a pen to draw a simple, layered pattern on the snow. "This is the general map of the Jinyun Lianhuan Realm."

Luo Jiujiang looked intently and saw that a full circle on the ground was wrapped in three layers like an onion. Among these layers, the outer layer must have completely wrapped the inner layer, with only a tiny part of the original full circle exposed.

It looks like a ball covered with several layers of bags, which is very strange.

"The entire linked world is made up of four worlds connected together. The Jinyun Realm, located in the center, has the most abundant spiritual energy and is guarded by the Realm Master himself." Feng Xue reached out and pointed at the only unenclosed space in the full circle. "This is the relay array that connects to the other great worlds... It's also the only channel for the entire Jinyun Linked World to communicate with the outside world."

Xie Chuncan changed his previous aggressive attitude and revealed a pensive expression on his face: "I remember when I was first sent to this deadly place, not counting the time I came in, I passed through the boundary membrane three times in one night before I finally arrived."

"Yes. Because this world has a unique shape, there is only one way in and out."

"The entire chain world is made up of four worlds connected together. The one in the middle is the Jinyun World, followed by the Jinkong World, then the Jindi World, and finally the Death Land where we are now."

Feng Xue patted the snow marks on his hands, exhaled a long breath, and finally a look of lifeless fatigue appeared on his face. "These four worlds are like a big bag inside a small bag. The Jinkong Realm is surrounded by the Jinyun Realm and the Jindi Realm, with no escape route. And the Jindi Realm is sandwiched between the Jinkong Realm and this deadly place, making it equally impossible to escape. In the entire chain of linked worlds, the Jinyun Realm is the only 'mouth of the bag' with a passage connecting to the other worlds. This deadly place is the hopeless 'bottom of the bag'."

Xie Chunjiang slowly frowned, looking at the crudely composed figure on the ground as if he were looking at a hot potato. "You mean to say that if we want to get out, we have to pass through three worlds in a row, find the only exit of the Jinyun Realm, and then break through the heavy guards before we can escape?"

"What I mean is, I don't think anyone can escape from the Jinyun Realm." The light in the cave was dim, and most of Feng Xue's face was covered in shadow. His smile was extremely sarcastic and cold. "If I could run, I would have run long ago. Why would I risk my life to run from the Jinyun Realm to this hellish place, and watch myself become a madman? The core world of Jinyun is completely under the divine consciousness of that old pervert. He has been the master of the realm for many years. Even if there is an extra speck of dust on the relay formation, he can detect it. With the formation activated, he has more than enough time to kill us a hundred times."

"There is no way to heaven and no door to earth." Xie Chuncan knocked on his Luoyu bow a little irritably. He turned his head and saw that Luo Jiujiang was in deep thought, Xiao Ren was burying his head in Feng Xue's arm pretending to be dead, and he was the only one who was thinking about an escape plan, while he was being attacked from all sides by Feng Xue.

"If death is the only option, we might as well force our way out." Xie Chuncan said deliberately, "Anyway, no matter which world we die in, it's much better than this dead place. Those worlds above won't make people neither human nor ghost. It's like a jar for breeding poison."

Feng Xue laughed hoarsely, his features looking rather grim at the moment. "Do you know why this damn place is like this? It's the final layer of the big bag that envelops the entire Lianhuan Realm, tightly holding in all the blood and malice. How good can the Jinyun Realm be with that old pervert around... I'm not afraid to tell you, he loves young people like you who are so clueless and want to run away. He's more nutritious than ginseng, and he'd love to chew a dozen of them a day."

"Excellent." Xie Chuncan raised his eyebrows, clearly irritated by Feng Xue's sarcastic and half-hearted attitude. "You..."

No wonder they both knew the other was different from the other animals here, yet they kept their distance. It turned out their auras were naturally incompatible, and friction was inevitable the moment they met.
