Chapter 17 Du Chuan

The two men walked towards the parade ground, talking and laughing all the way. Their happiness was so obvious, and the air was filled with a joyful atmosphere.

The morning sun also cast a soft golden edge on them. Time seemed to be particularly gentle at this moment, wanting to preserve this beautiful moment forever - until a sharp sound of breaking through the air came from behind them.

Luo Jiujiang, with his extensive combat experience, immediately recognized the attack aimed at the back of his head. Without a second thought, he spun and bent, knocking Han Qianling away with his right shoulder, releasing his opponent's hand.

His reaction was incredibly fast, and the entire sequence of movements took less than half a second. However, the speed of the hidden arrow was no less than impressive, and in the blink of an eye, the tip of the arrow had already brushed past Luo Jiujiang's nose!

Suddenly, there was a swish sound, and Luo Jiujiang drew his sword, his waist was tensed like a bow, and he thrust the sword across. At this critical moment, his wrist was surprisingly steady, and he broke the long arrow that had been dancing cheek to cheek with him into two pieces in mid-air without even taking a breath!

From the time he heard the wind until now, only a blink of an eye has passed.

Luo Jiujiang straightened up, blade still pointed in the direction of the attack. His eyes were solemn and filled with anger: the force of that arrow was no joke. If he was really hit, his head would probably explode.

The moment he swung his sword to cut the arrow, the muscles in his arm had already exploded with a strength that was unimaginable to ordinary people. But even so, the recoil he received from the arrow still made his entire right arm numb until now.

Even someone as magnanimous as Luo Jiujiang couldn't help but feel a surge of rage at this moment. With such force and angle, it was truly a lethal arrow, aimed at killing him! He didn't know what deep hatred he had with someone that could lead to this.

The man who attacked him didn't dodge or evade, but stood carelessly on the eaves. When he saw Luo Jiujiang looking at him, his face showed no shame for attacking him from behind. Instead, he sneered, "You have sharp ears. I saved your life."

The man had a very distinctive appearance. If one pulled his hair and pressed it into the paste, the resulting mold would be exactly what Du Di would look like as an adult.

Looking at it this way, there is no need to identify this person's identity - who else could it be but Du Di's elder brother who has returned from traveling?

Luo Jiujiang really didn't expect that Dong Shuangyu was still reminding him to be careful of this person yesterday, but the two of them met early this morning.

The other party came with bad intentions, so Luo Jiujiang said nothing more, but just said coldly: "Are you going to kill me on my own territory?"

This is the Luo family's ancestral land! Du Chuan, a man with the surname Du, came to the Luo family's ancestral land and killed the patriarch's youngest son. Did he ever think about the consequences?

Even if the Du family's "Fiery Art" was particularly deceptive, the person who could do such a thing was beyond Luo Jiujiang's imagination. If Du Di's mind was half a bowl of stewed tofu, then Du Chuan's mind might only be a plate of thin tofu pudding.

Du Chuan raised his head and said proudly, "Even if I kill you here, what does it matter? Are you the only one in the world who is allowed to be young and ignorant like Luo?"

Du Chuan emphasized the phrase "young and ignorant." This was exactly the excuse the Luo family had given when Luo Jiujiang doused Du Di with egg drop soup.

...But Luo Jiujiang was only twelve years old when he did this, so he could indeed be considered young and ignorant. And now Du Chuan, a twenty-three-year-old Foundation Establishment Third Level, has the nerve to say such things?

Luo Jiujiang was speechless. He was convinced that over the years, Du Chuan's mind had gone from thin tofu pudding to a bowl of bean dregs.

He said no more - in fact, he even doubted whether Du Chuan had the intelligence to understand what people were saying.

Luo Jiujiang pointed the toe of his left foot slightly outward. Han Qianling understood what he meant and immediately took a step forward, half-covering Luo Jiujiang.

Du Chuan just showed a disdainful smile when he saw Luo Jiujiang reach into the storage bag, took out a tube-shaped firework, and threw it to the ground without hesitation.

Suddenly, a sharp, blade-like white light shot up from the horizon, visible even in broad daylight from five miles away. Du Chuan's face instantly turned pale. "You carry this with you even at home?"

Luo Jiujiang sighed and said, "Why is it that serious? It's just that my storage bag is too cluttered with things. There's even half a roast chicken hidden in it."

Du Chuan remained silent, but his eyes were even fiercer than before, clearly intent on a quick resolution. It wasn't that Luo Jiujiang didn't admire his unwavering resolve, but it was truly unexpected that he'd come to someone else's house to commit a crime and then quickly flee after his failure. Honestly, this was pure madness.

Until recently, Luo Jiujiang hadn't cared much about Du Chuan's return to the island. He had indeed beaten the younger brother, so it wasn't surprising for the older brother to come after him. At most, he'd get a beating for not learning the art well enough. But if you look closely, Luo Jiujiang and Du Di's feud was just over a bowl of egg drop soup. Would the Du family chop off an arm or a leg for that?

He didn't expect that his brother's move would actually want to kill him!

He didn't know that Du Chuan had other plans in mind.

It was only when Du Chuan arrived in the clouded leopard world that he realized that the Seven Islands where he was was indeed a special case.

Not only is the spiritual energy here richer than in other small worlds, and the spiritual plants are more numerous than in other small worlds, but even the qualifications and cultivation of the people there are far superior to those in other small worlds.

With his talent of having reached the third level of foundation building at the age of 23, he would be a respected young hero no matter which sect he was placed in in the Clouded Leopard Realm, and he would hear countless flatteries wherever he went.

It just so happened that Luo Jiujiang had an older brother named Luo Sanhuai, who not only entered a better sect by chance, but was also promoted to the foundation-building stage at the age of nineteen. In the same year, he was sent to the upper realm by the other sect. Now, at the age of twenty-one, he has reached the fourth level of foundation-building.
