Chapter 71: Breaking the Boundary

No, it could be faster. Feng Xue hesitated for a moment, her pupils constricting and trembling. But doing so would be like throwing what is essentially ice into flames, like throwing thin dust into a raging wind, exposing her softest and most fragile parts to a thousand cuts. It would be like forcing savagery to overwrite reason, substituting instinct for civility, like pouring pure water into an inkwell without reservation. When she woke up, she would be in agony, utter agony.

Feng Xue turned around and glanced at the three people around her.

Xie Chuncan had previously injured his left shoulder and couldn't draw his bow. Luo Jiujiang, while seemingly still able to perform with ease, should have reserved his strength for that crucial strike. As for Xiao Ren... she had just broken through to the Foundation Establishment stage, and it was already difficult enough.

Never mind, it's only a matter of time. She'll have to do this as the final step. At most, she'll be in pain for a while while she recovers. Feng Xue sighed inwardly, but her expression remained impassive. She pulled something out of her bosom, opened it, and placed the other half into Xiao Ren's hand. "I told you, hold onto it."

"What is it? I have nothing in my hands." Xie Chuncan moved his intact right arm to indicate, but all he got was a laugh from Feng Xue: "You can't do it. You don't know how to use it, and you can't use it."

Back then, Feng Xue had walked straight into the death zone from the Jinyun Realm, determined not to ever step foot near that old pervert again in her lifetime. The worst that could happen was death. This behavior, of course, was disapproved of by her "father," and she hadn't touched the original owner's belongings, so she was practically kicked out of the house.

The reason why it is said to be almost is because she also brought something down from Jinyun Realm.

With a click, a ring closed tightly around Feng Xue's neck. Xie Chuncan was stunned for a moment before realizing that it was a collar, and the small ring in Xiao Ren's hand...

Xiao Ren's face was expressionless, as if she had obeyed every order Feng Xue had given her in the past. With a flick of her wrist, she shouted in a steady voice, "Sister, transform into a Taotie."

The collar that looked as cold and hard as metal actually changed with Feng Xue's shape. However, no matter what Feng Xue's shape was, it always stuck tightly to Feng Xue's skin... or fur.

After putting on the collar, Feng Xue transformed into the gluttonous form that she most rejected and could not control without any struggle.

Xiao Ren lifted the ring lightly in the air, like a rider lightly pulling the reins of a horse. She ignored the surprise on Xie Chuncan and Luo Jiujiang's faces, jumped onto the blood-red and thick back of Taotie, and waved the hand holding the sword, signaling them to hurry up.

"Sister." After the three of them stood firmly on Feng Xue's back, Xiao Ren pressed the warm fur of the giant beast beneath him and whispered the third order: "Let's go there and kill anyone who stands in our way."

The enormous Taotie roared heavenward, its blood-red eyes filled with a hazy, chaotic gaze. It seemed particularly dissatisfied with the two extra male passengers on its back. Turning its head to lick the lush fur on its back, it gave them a cold glance. At its closest point, the barbs on its tongue were less than half a foot from Xie Chuncan's feet.

"Sister Xue... are you still conscious?" Luo Jiujiang frowned. He noticed that Feng Xue was licking the blood dripping from Xie Chuncan's wound.

Xiao Ren shook her head first. She was half-squatting on the back of the Taotie to maintain her balance. Those strengthened Taotie were just counterfeit products in front of the beast-like Feng Xue. They were either crushed by her in mid-air or swallowed whole. This series of movements had a large amplitude and it was easy for people to lose their balance.

However, Xiao Ren quickly added, "She's fine when she's briefly transformed, but she'll be unconscious like this. I trust you."

She believed that when she opened her eyes again, she would have reached the outer world, and believed that they could accomplish this dream together.

Luo Jiujiang nodded silently, feeling a heavy weight on his shoulders. He noticed that the Taotie blocking the road had become much fewer since Feng Xue transformed, retreating a bit. He wondered if it was because the counterfeit goods were afraid of the real thing. Now, they were only a dozen feet away from the place where his scabbard had marked. He didn't need Feng Xue to carry him anymore, so he just stepped forward and jumped.

Xue Yuan had already mastered the "Chaos" move in the underground palace. He moved his blade with abandon, and cyclones of varying sizes formed in the air in an orderly fashion, with the outline of a snow dragon faintly visible. This was the time to focus completely, yet Luo Jiujiang's blade paused slightly.

The thing was first detected by his senses, and then jumped into his eyes half a beat late.

It was a very huge Taotie. Just in terms of size, Feng Xue was almost three times smaller than it.

If Feng Xue was still conscious, she would definitely complain wildly, "Are we a group of Russian nesting dolls? Where are those in the middle?" Unfortunately, she was not conscious now. She just faithfully followed Xiao Ren's order just now, "Kill anyone who blocks the road."

She charged forward, valiant, desperate, and unwavering, despite the stark contrast between the two, akin to an ant trying to shake a tree. Xie Chuncan gasped, and Xiao Ren quickly changed his command, "Sister, get out of the way!" However, the command reached her ears half a beat too late, and Feng Xue, along with the two people she was carrying, flew backwards.

Feng Xue crashed heavily into a large rugged rock wall. If she had not remembered to grab the two people on her back and hold them in her claws while she was flying in a parabola in the air, Xiao Ren and Xie Chuncan would have been beaten into a pulp by this double attack.

Feng Xue spread her claws and gently dropped the small blade to the ground, ignoring Xie Chuncan, who had nearly been pinched by her due to his awkward position when she held him. Blood streamed from the back of her neck—the alien's skin was thick and tough, and the shattered rocks had nothing to do with it. The three distinct bloodstains on her neck were clearly the work of the larger man.

Xiao Ren shook the black ring on his hand violently: "Run! Sister, run!"

The Taotie on the other side was already in pursuit, casting a shadow that seemed to obscure the sky and the sun. If Feng Xue had just dodged, Xiao Ren and Xie Chuncan would have suffered the same fate they had so hard to escape. Feng Xue blinked slowly, ignoring the command of the one holding her reins.
