Chapter 26: Settlement of Accounts

This duel with Du Di did not take Han Qianling much effort.

Not counting the formalities the two followed before the fight, the real killing move was delivered in an instant.

Du Chuan had been staring intently at Han Qianling from the audience. He still remembered the last time he had attacked Luo Jiujiang, and how he had remained unfazed despite the powerful recoil, appearing unharmed. So, from the outset, he wanted to see his opponent's moves clearly.

However, his last direct confrontation with Han Qianling had yielded no conclusion, so expecting to observe the situation from the sidelines was even more wishful thinking. Unlike Du Di, who had launched into a barrage of provocations the moment the judging elder signaled the start of the match, Han Qianling remained silent.

Others didn't understand him, simply thinking Han Qianling was just that way. Only Luo Jiujiang, who knew him so well he could be a family friend, could discern the flicker of disdain in his eyes—he disdained to even utter a single syllable to Du Di.

Contrary to Du Chuan's expectations, Han Qianling didn't use the sword hanging from his waist, nor did he display his powerful and sharp palm techniques as he had last time against him. Instead, he saw his wide sleeves waving in the wind, puffing up like air, then rapidly deflated. As the air within the sleeves was ejected at high speed,...

Before anyone in the audience could see what Qing Han Qianling had thrown, Du Di had already covered his face with his hands, screaming in pain and falling to the ground. The spectators looked closely and saw that Du Di's body, hands, and even his cheeks were covered with over a hundred sharp, gleaming fish scales!

The audience had only seen a flash of gray light at Han Qianling's sleeves, which seemed to stretch out several shadows. But they had never expected that in the blink of an eye, hundreds of fish scales would be released.

The hundred fish scales instantly broke through the defense of Du Di's magic weapon and pierced deeply into his flesh. There was some strange thing on the scales that made Du Di's muscles jump and numb. It seemed that all the blood in his body rushed into his brain in an instant, and white and black lights flashed repeatedly in front of his eyes.

In Du Di's vision, Han Qianling's figure flickered and fluctuated like the ever-changing light. He gradually approached until he was right in front of him. The next moment, Han Qianling stepped on his chest, making it almost impossible to breathe.

"If there is a brother's revenge, then the brother must pay the brother's debt." Du Di could only hear a few vague syllables, which were diluted and unclear by the sound of blood rushing in his eardrums.

He naturally couldn't see that Han Qianling was facing the audience at this moment, and his two cold eyes were fixed on Du Chuan without any hesitation: "Whoever wants Luo Jiujiang's life, I will make him die himself."

The next moment, Du Di was kicked and fell off the stage. Amidst the excruciating pain of blood spurting out of his throat, he only remembered that particularly indifferent and cold voice: "Tell Du Chuan to clean his neck and wait."

————————

As soon as Han Qianling stepped down from the stage, Luo Jiujiang grabbed his wrist and dragged him to a quiet place. Outside, the Du family members were busy applying medicine, stopping bleeding, changing clothes, and fanning their young master, making a chaotic noise.

Luo Jiujiang ignored the noise and looked into Han Qianling's eyes: "Let me see your fish scales."

Han Qianling raised an eyebrow: "Is this something you can't hide from me?"

He reached into his sleeve pocket and pulled out a silver-gray fish scale, holding it between his fingers. Without hesitation, he handed it to Luo Jiujiang, not allowing him to reach out and take it. He simply gestured for him to look at his hand and said, "Don't touch it. It's poisonous."

Luo Jiujiang felt that this was not unexpected. He shook his head and sighed, "The competition rules state that weapons cannot be made of pure poison... Well, whatever poison it is, let's deal with it."

"It's a natural poison on its scales. It seeps when it comes in contact with blood, but the poison doesn't take effect quickly. It'll be its turn to show its true strength after the competition is over, so they won't be able to detect it." Han Qianling put away the silver-gray fish scale and slowly put his hands behind his back. "I left last night to look for this fish. The poison it carries can sever a person's meridians... Du Di doesn't deserve death. I'll only take half of his life, not a cent more."

Luo Jiujiang asked curiously, "What kind of fish has this kind of poison? I've never learned that."

"The world is so vast, how can we possibly explore all the rare treasures?" Han Qianling shook his head nonchalantly. "This fish is hard to catch, and I'm afraid few people know about it, let alone its name."

"Hmm..." Luo Jiujiang dragged out the last line of his voice, and his brows furrowed a little. Han Qianling's eyes moved, and he almost couldn't help but reach out to smooth his brows, but he was suddenly grabbed by the other party's wrist.

Luo Jiujiang carefully checked Han Qianling's pulse from head to toe, confirming that he had no internal injuries before letting go. He jokingly said, "No matter how hard it was to catch me, I'd have gotten the scales scraped off anyway. I think you're just trying to brag about yourself."

"The difficulty is only for you," Han Qianling whispered. It had always been like this since he was little; he never tried to hide his abnormality from Luo Jiujiang. "For me, catching this kind of fish or picking up that conch is as easy as humming a song."

Luo Jiujiang burst out laughing: "Humming? That's amazing! We've known each other for almost ten years, and this is the first time I know you can sing. How about singing another song for me?"

"Not now." Han Qianling's eyes moved, and a smile seemed to flash across his eyes. "If you really want to listen, keep the conch shell I gave you... There is a song I left behind in it."

That night, Luo Jiujiang couldn't suppress his curiosity and put the conch to his ear several times, but in the end he couldn't make out anything, so he had to go to sleep.

At night, in his dreams, he could only hear the sobbing of a female ghost and a turtle scratching the wall with its nails; the female role was crying, waving her sleeves, and her face was covered with residual makeup and blood, and she kept saying that she died miserably... During this time, a rough devilish voice lingered in his ears, and it sang a soft and tuneless tune to him with a hearty laugh, which almost made him fall headfirst onto the ground.
