(7 Fresh Coins) Chapter 15 (Part 2) I'll Go Through Fire and Water for You
Of course, as someone who would shoulder all responsibilities, including charging into battle and providing close protection, he needed to be fully prepared. But before that, there was perhaps one more thing. Wei Lan closed his eyes, relaxed his tense nerves, and let himself sink into another world.
"To relax at a time like this, should I say you're too naive, or too confident?" A deep, magnetic voice—a man's—grew closer and clearer... "He" woke up.
"Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do right now," Wei Lan heard his own calm voice.
“That’s right, there’s really nothing I can do right now. So…” He readily admitted, then paused slightly, his voice tinged with amusement and mockery, “You’d better do a good job, don’t make things boring. I haven’t had any real fun in ages.”
Upon hearing this, Wei Lan finally laughed sarcastically: "They just want to stir up trouble."
"Anyway, aren't you happy to see it happen?" His voice grew increasingly flippant, clearly showing his disdain for Wei Lan's attitude. "You hypocrite."
Wei Lan didn't care and stopped talking to the other person. "He" felt bored, snorted, and then fell silent as well.
The world fell silent again. Wei Lan closed her eyes for a while before slowly opening them. She turned her head slightly to look at Xu Qi nearby, who still had his eyes closed, but whose breathing gradually became long and even.
Have you calmed down? Wei Lan withdrew his gaze and unzipped the bag beside him. It was a huge black leather bag, bulging and full of things. He reached inside and rummaged around for a bit, pulling out a uniquely shaped small silver box. A gentle smile appeared on his calm face, and his slender index and middle fingers lightly fiddled with the edge, opening the lid silently.
The silver light cast a somewhat sinister shadow on his otherwise fair and refined face. He lowered his eyes, gazing at the various small tools—scalpels, tweezers, scissors, forceps… These were the best helpers for doctors in saving lives, yet they possessed a cold, sharp appearance, devoid of any warmth. They lay peacefully in small compartments separated by soft white cloth, orderly yet distinct—each with its own duty, never overstepping its bounds.
Long, slender fingers gently brushed over the small creatures, finally resting on the end of a scalpel. Like a lover caressing their beloved, they tenderly stroked the patterns etched upon them—beautiful shapes like ripples on water, the unique marks their owner had left on them. Wei Lan narrowed his eyes, his smile deepening.
Fortunately, Xu Qi had his eyes closed and wasn't looking at him, otherwise he probably would have been in serious trouble! Because this man's expression was really... reminiscent of certain unpleasant words—like, pervert. After a while, Wei Lan finally closed the lid, put the box back in his bag, and zipped it up. Just before the zipper was fully closed, a dark glint flashed, and Wei Lan looked at the black gun barrel, a complex expression on his face.
"Young Master, the Second Young Master is looking for you." Suddenly, the co-pilot's respectful voice came from the cockpit door.
Wei Lan looked up at Xu Qi, whose expression remained calm, his open eyes serene: "Take it."
"Yes." Wei Lan responded by pressing the button on the communicator. The screen on the bulkhead flashed, and Xu Yi's handsome face appeared in front of the two of them.
Seeing his expression, Wei Lan immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly spoke before he could say anything: "Second Young Master, we..."
“I know.” Xu Yi interrupted him, turned to Xu Qi, and stared at him as she asked, “When will you be back?”
Xu Qi looked at his younger brother with some surprise: "I thought you would be angry."
“Of course I’m angry. I’m extremely angry,” Xu Yi replied quickly.
Xu Qi felt a little embarrassed and looked away, saying, "I'm sorry..."
“But I know it’s absolutely impossible for you not to go—I would have done the same.” Xu Yi suddenly raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a somewhat forced smile. “I just hope you can calm down… worry makes you lose your composure, don’t let yourself get hurt.”
“…I promise you.” Xu Qi was silent for a few seconds, then finally nodded solemnly. “I’ll be troubling you these next few days.”
After the communication was cut off, the two were silent for a moment, and the atmosphere instantly became somewhat heavy.
Just then, a mechanical female voice rang out in the cabin: "We are about to arrive in California. Please prepare for arrival."
Wei Lan quickly stood up and turned to look at the man beside her. The bugle call to charge had already sounded; they were just waiting for the commander's order.
A glint of light flashed in his deep black eyes, and the man slowly nodded at him.
