☆、(8 Fresh Coins) The Sigh of the Rose (17) (Alternate Universe, OOC Side Story - Warning!)
The newcomer was exceptionally sharp and dodged the attack in a flash.
Seeing his opponent dodge, Adam immediately launched a series of attacks, giving his opponent no chance to catch his breath. Just as he thrust his sword towards his opponent's face, the opponent suddenly retreated several steps, reached up and removed his mask, panting as he shouted, "Stop! Stop! I didn't come here to fight you!"
"You are... Beth?" Adam was quite surprised. He immediately stopped what he was doing and looked closely. The person's face was handsome and heroic. Who else could it be but the female knight Beth?
Beth breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that he had stopped, and not allowing him to continue, she raised her eyebrows and said resentfully, "I just didn't trust you, so I came to check on you, and you dare to... Humph!"
Adam was deeply embarrassed. His honest nature had prevented him from realizing how illogical the excuse of "just passing by" late at night was. Instead, he genuinely regretted his "overly forceful" attack. With a look of shame, he lowered his sword and stammered, "I'm sorry..."
Beth, who had intended to preemptively address the awkwardness of breaking into someone's room in the middle of the night, was momentarily stunned to see this wooden man actually admitting his mistake. She then snapped back to reality, stomped her foot, and exclaimed, "You idiot!!!"
As the only female knight in the Holy Knights Order, aside from her appearance, she had always been no different from the men in terms of personality, martial arts, and magic; it was difficult for others to regard her as a normal woman. However, at this moment, her voice held a hint of reproach, and her expression revealed a touch of girlish charm. Her tight-fitting clothes accentuated her beautiful figure, making her appear indescribably alluring and charming. Adam had never seen her like this before and was momentarily stunned.
While she was still fuming with resentment, Beth was completely oblivious, staring blankly at him. She gritted her teeth inwardly. How could this man be so clueless about romance! He clearly knew... her feelings for him, yet he hadn't responded at all. And now, when he finally glanced at her, he was acting like a complete blockhead! Another surge of anger rose within her. She couldn't help but take a few quick steps, forcing the man to the bedside. She leaned close to him, but didn't utter a single word.
Adam was startled and plopped onto the edge of the bed. The female knight's face was so close, her eyes seemed to hold a thousand words, and he panicked, breaking out in a cold sweat. Only then did he realize the foolish thing he had just done. He did vaguely know her feelings, but he had never thought of reciprocating—he had just lost his composure because of her charm. What was he? How was he any different from those noble playboys? He was filled with regret and guilt, hating himself for his innate inability to resist beauty. Although he didn't have any further thoughts, he could never shake this "lustful" habit. If not, he wouldn't have been so bewitched at the sight of the elf Calvin—he should have at least retained some rationality instead of falling deeper and deeper into her trap.
The thought of Calvin sent a shiver down his spine, and a strange unease crept into his heart. For some reason, he had a bad feeling…
A deafening explosion erupted in the dimly lit room, illuminating it as if it were daytime and casting a pale, startled shadow over the two men's faces. Before they could react, Beth was violently thrown towards the door, while Adam stared blankly—perhaps with a hint of panic—at the suddenly appearing…elf. Although the other had deliberately disguised himself as human, he was absolutely certain he wouldn't mistake that inhumanly beautiful face, nor could he fail to recognize the unique aura emanating from him. The elf Calvin had appeared here!
How did he get here? Why did he come here? Surprise, doubt, joy, and anger overwhelmed him. He was so confused that he could do nothing but sit on the edge of the bed and stare blankly at the other person.
Calvin was also watching him, watching that handsome face, that stunned yet panicked expression, like a frightened unicorn, captivating the eye. He stared intently at Adam, his gaze greedily tracing every inch of skin—for the past few months, he had no idea what he was living, each day a blur, unable to think of anything but this man. He had waited so long, finally seeing him again, only to have the other leave so quickly. The longing he had forcibly suppressed surged forth; the months of waiting felt more unbearable than a century before, pushing him to the brink of collapse. If he didn't see him again, he might go mad. He knew the other would inevitably come back to him soon, but he couldn't even endure that little bit of time.
He told himself he was just sneaking a peek, that he wouldn't do anything. He came here, never expecting to witness such a scene—the man he longed for, meeting a woman in the middle of the night. And it seemed they were about to take it to the next level—extreme anger consumed him, and he recklessly destroyed this beautiful sight that appeared pleasing to outsiders. Jealous rage, heavy longing, and the joy of seeing his lover again—these emotions swirled together, overwhelming his heart, causing unbearable pain.
“Adam…” He stared blankly at the man, murmuring the other’s name as if in a dream. He gently took the man’s hand and pressed it against his heart, his brow furrowed in pain, his voice trembling violently, “It hurts so much…”
