Chapter 2 (Part 2) Each with their own secrets
One month later. Sicily, Italy. Francesco Cathedral.
"Dear brother-in-law, why do you look unhappy?" Si Qiang approached the groom with a wine glass in hand, revealing a warm smile.
Antonio pursed his lips, staring at him without saying a word. If he could still be happy in this situation, he must be out of his mind. The thought of marrying that woman annoyed him to no end.
Today is his wedding day, but for him, it feels like the end of the world. If he could, he would turn and run right now, fleeing this horrible place. But he can't. With his father's methods, even if he ran to the ends of the earth, it would be futile. And if he were caught and brought back, things would likely be even worse.
The beautiful woman before him was the object of his love at first sight, yet she was also the culprit behind his current predicament. If he hadn't used some unknown means to persuade his father to agree to this absurd marriage, he wouldn't be in this situation! He knew very well that the reason she was so ruthless was mostly because of the time he drugged her. Truly, the heart of a beautiful woman is the most poisonous! But what puzzled him was that Si Qiang clearly loved Adam, so why would she marry his sister? Had she completely given up on him?
Seeing that he didn't speak, Si Qiang knew what he was thinking. Without saying anything more, she simply raised her glass and drank it all in one gulp. Then he turned around and walked away with a flourish.
Seeing that he was about to leave, Antonio couldn't hold back any longer and called out to him, "Calvin! Please wait!"
Si Qiang turned around at the sound of his voice: "Is there anything else?" He knew the other party wouldn't give up, so he deliberately took the initiative. Otherwise, why would he bother talking to such an annoying guy?
Antonio gritted his teeth, grabbed his arm, and quickly walked towards a secluded spot. To onlookers, the scene appeared to be the groom holding the bride's brother's hand, seemingly about to have a private conversation. This was perfectly normal, after all, they were about to become family.
Si Qiang raised an eyebrow and let the other person pull him quickly through the crowd and into the restroom in the side passage.
There were people in the restroom, and Si Qiang was about to suggest finding another place, but Antonio didn't care. He knew that no one dared to have any criticism of the future godfather—in Sicily, the Francesco family represented God, absolute authority, and everyone had to obey unconditionally.
Sure enough, as soon as the people inside came out and saw him, they immediately bowed and left in a hurry.
Si Qiang watched all this with a cold eye, shrugged and smiled: "It seems my sister is very lucky to marry such an outstanding man as you. It's much better than being a useless rich girl in California."
"Am I really that outstanding? Yet you still look down on me, don't you?" Antonio narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice. He had never spoken to Si Qiang in such a tone before, which showed that he was truly angered.
Si Qiang turned her head and asked in surprise, "How is that possible? Compared to you, I'm just a clueless young man. I'm afraid I'll have to rely on my brother-in-law a lot in the future."
Antonio's eyes darkened, and he sneered, "In terms of methods, you're definitely no less capable than me."
Si Qiang shook her head, her eyes innocent: "What are you talking about? I don't understand."
Antonio stared at him, his fist clenching slightly. Just as his name suggested, he was a rose with thorns. Yet, he loved this man, and even the pain of being pricked by those thorns didn't stop him. He slowly relaxed, softening his tone, and said, "I know why you did that. What I did was wrong, and I sincerely apologize. But… I love you. And that won't change in the foreseeable future. I can never be worthy of your sister, do you understand what I mean?"
Si Qiang's expression gradually turned cold: "Please don't bring that up again. I will never forgive you, and we can never be friends again. Who you love is your business, and I can't speak for my sister."
Becoming...friends again? Antonio was stunned. So, Si Qiang had once considered him a friend? He didn't know whether to be happy or regretful. He loved Si Qiang and naturally hoped their relationship could go beyond friendship. But what was the point now that they weren't even friends?
Even so, he wouldn't give up. Antonio smiled. "I never wanted to be friends with you. You know what I want, and I'll never give it up. Brother-in-law? Are you implying that proximity gives you an advantage?"
His flippant smile only made Si Qiang more repulsive. He coldly reminded her, "I'm going to marry your sister soon. Do you want her to hate you?"
Antonio scoffed, "It seems you don't know my family situation. My sister has always hated me to the core. In her eyes, I'm an unforgivable demon. Do you think I need that one more crime?"
