Not breaking the law

Not breaking the law

After the examination, Dr. Chen gave a few more instructions. Jiang Yibai listened more attentively than anyone else, almost writing down every single detail in a notebook. His serious demeanor made Lin Xiyan, the injured patient, look like nothing happened.

After getting off the examination chair and stepping onto the ground, Lin Xiyan felt a sharp pain in his wound. He couldn't help but let out a soft hiss, frowning slightly.

This subtle sound did not escape Jiang Yibai's ears. He turned around almost immediately, his brows furrowed even tighter than Lin Xiyan's: "Does it hurt?"

"No... I'm fine." Lin Xiyan subconsciously denied it, not wanting to seem too squeamish. He tried to take a small step forward, his movements somewhat stiff and awkward.

Jiang Yibai looked at his forced appearance, and the joy that had just risen in his heart because of "being well raised" was instantly replaced by heartache. Without saying a word, he suddenly bent down -

The next second, the world was spinning.

Lin Xiyan felt his body lighten as he was lifted sideways. This time, it wasn't the safe princess carry he'd been in before, but something even more... embarrassing. Jiang Yibai supported his back with one hand, and with the other, he reached around his knees and held him tightly, face to face, like a child.

Lin Xiyan's gaze instantly shot up, his entire body practically suspended in mid-air. He was forced to frantically wrap his uninjured left hand around Jiang Yibai's neck to maintain his balance. This position made him practically buried in Jiang Yibai's arms, chest pressed against chest, cheek nearly bumping into his chin.

"!!!" Lin Xiyan was completely stunned. Blood rushed to his head, and his cheeks, ears, and neck instantly burned red. He even stopped breathing. "Put... put me down!" His voice trembled, and he struggled with his hands and feet. "I can walk... This won't work..."

There were a few patients and their families scattered in the hospital corridor, all looking over with curiosity and inquiry.

Jiang Yibai, however, seemed completely oblivious to those gazes. He held him firmly in his arms, even deliberately bouncing him up to hold him tighter. He lowered his head, his purple eyes gazing at the man in his arms, whose eyes were wet with panic. His brows furrowed, but the corners of his mouth curled slightly downwards, his expression aggrieved yet self-righteous:

"Why not? Your feet hurt." His tone was as matter-of-fact as if it were a matter of course.

"But... a lot of people..." Lin Xiyan's voice was so low that it was almost inaudible. He desperately hid his burning face in the crook of Jiang Yibai's shoulder, wishing he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into. It was so embarrassing! He was so old and still being hugged like this!

"Just look," Jiang Yibai didn't care at all. He didn't even stop walking out with him in his arms. His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just enough for those around him to hear vaguely. "I'm hugging my own wife. It's not against the law."

"Old...!" Lin Xiyan's scalp went numb when he blurted out the word "wife". The rest of the words were stuck in his throat. His whole body turned red like a boiled shrimp, and even his fingertips were burning.

Jiang Yibai watched him, his fair neck flushed, and felt a strong itch in his heart, but he suppressed his laughter. He carried the man and strode through the corridor, completely ignoring the surprise, envy, or well-intentioned laughter along the way.

Walking to the elevator, while waiting for the elevator, Lin Xiyan finally recovered from her initial extreme shame and began to struggle weakly again: "Jiang Yibai...really...put me down...it's too heavy..."

"What's so heavy about it?" Jiang Yibai lowered his head and rubbed his chin against the soft hair on top of his head. His movements were intimate and natural. "It's as light as a feather. I can still hold ten more."

"..." Lin Xiyan was choked by his exaggerated metaphor and was speechless.

The elevator door dinged open, revealing several people standing inside. Lin Xiyan immediately buried her face in hers, acting like an ostrich.

Jiang Yibai walked in calmly, holding him in his arms, accepting everyone's attention in the elevator. Someone even joked, "Hey, boy, is your boyfriend injured?"

Jiang Yibai actually said "hmm" seriously, then looked down at the person in his arms who he wished would disappear, and raised the corner of his mouth: "Hmm, so delicate, he refused to walk."

Lin Xiyan trembled violently in his arms, her fingers unconsciously tugging at the fabric of his clothes on his back. Who's being squeamish?

After finally reaching the first floor, as soon as the elevator door opened, Lin Xiyan immediately protested in a muffled voice: "...We're...at the bottom! Let me down!"

Jiang Yibai seemed not to hear him, and walked straight out, holding him, through the hospital lobby. The sun was shining in their faces.

"Jiang Yibai!" Lin Xiyan was really a little anxious, and her voice was filled with anger that she didn't even notice. "Let me go!"

When they reached the less crowded area near the hospital entrance, Jiang Yibai finally stopped. He didn't let go, but instead, loosened his grip slightly, allowing Lin Xiyan to distance herself from him and meet his gaze.

The blush on Lin Xiyan's face had not yet faded, and her eyes were misted with a layer of embarrassment, sparkling. Her lips were slightly pursed, and she looked a little angry, but more helpless.

Jiang Yibai's heart melted at the sight of him. He suddenly lowered his head, resting his forehead lightly against Lin Xiyan's, their noses almost touching. Their breaths intertwined.

"I won't let go." His voice was low and nasal, like a naughty child. His purple eyes stared at Lin Xiyan, who was so close to him, and his eyes clearly reflected the other person's helpless look. "Your feet hurt, and my heart aches. I'll feel better if I carry you and walk with you."

His breath was warm, brushing against Lin Xiyan's lips. They were so close that she could clearly count each of his eyelashes.

Lin Xiyan's strength to struggle seemed to be instantly drained by this overly intimate posture and the blunt, almost unreasonable, love words. He stared blankly into Jiang Yibai's eyes, seeing the undisguised worry and stubbornness in them, as well as the bottomless tenderness that almost drowned him.

My heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to jump out of my chest.

"…perverse logic." He could only manage these two words in the end, his voice hollow and without much impact. The hand that was clutching Jiang Yibai's clothes unconsciously loosened its grip and became limp.

Jiang Yibai watched his attitude soften, a hint of triumphant smile flashing across his eyes. He knew he had won again.

He took advantage of the situation and nuzzled Lin Xiyan's nose with his nose tip, his movements extremely intimate: "Then do you agree? Let me hold you. Otherwise, I will stand here and not leave."

He started using that sticky, coquettish tone again. He used it every time! Every time, he knew he couldn't resist!

Lin Xiyan's ears burned intensely, and he felt an itch from being rubbed. He tried to move away, but his body was held tightly, leaving him with nowhere to escape. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and finally nodded very lightly, as if exhausting all his strength. The movement was so slight that it was almost imperceptible.

"...Hmm." An almost inaudible sound of compromise escaped from his throat.

Jiang Yibai smiled instantly, his eyes curved into a beautiful arc, like a cat that had successfully stolen some fish. He stood up with satisfaction, but still did not put her down. Instead, he adjusted his posture to make Lin Xiyan more comfortable in his arms, then held her and continued walking towards the parking lot.

The sun shone warmly on her body. Lin Xiyan resigned herself to resting her burning cheek on Jiang Yibai's sturdy shoulder, listening to the steady and powerful heartbeat beside her ears, and the clean and pleasant scent of the other person lingering on her nose.

The shame was still there, humming in the background, but another, more turbulent emotion, slowly but surely, overwhelmed everything else—the sense of security of being completely enveloped, cherished, and favored for no reason.

He sighed very softly, and his slightly tense body finally relaxed completely. He snuggled softly into this warm and domineering embrace.

It seems... just like this, not bad.

Jiang Yibai felt the completely relaxed dependence of the person in his arms, and the corners of his mouth raised even higher. He lowered his head, his lips almost touching Lin Xiyan's ear, and whispered in a proud and satisfied voice:

"good."
