Chapter 33 The Grace of the Emperor of Chu
"Well, are you from the Western Region Demon Cult?" Emperor Chu continued to ask, his tone carrying the majesty unique to a superior.
"Yes." Qing Yi responded briefly.
"Why did you come to the Central Plains?" The Emperor of Chu himself had a strong aura, and his status as a superior for a long time was reflected in his tone. Qing Yi used to think that Xiao Ye had this problem, but later when he met the Northwest King Chu Lang, he found that Xiao Ye was quite approachable. Now that he met the Emperor of Chu, he realized that the Northwest King was nothing, and the person in front of him was the real superior. He looked at everyone as if he was looking at his subjects or his servants.
"Play." Qing Yi answered very concisely.
"What do your parents do?" King Chu asked again.
Qing Yi wondered if the King of Chu was doing this on purpose or was he just too gossipy. But he couldn't figure it out, so he could only answer truthfully, "I don't know. They're all dead."
"Were you adopted by Mo Qitian?"
"Yes." Qing Yi responded, thinking to himself, the Emperor of Great Chu actually knew the master. It seemed that the Emperor of Chu knew about the master and King Shi.
"Why did you risk your life to save Qingyu?" The Emperor of Chu asked again. Ye Qingyu, who was standing by, was worried. Why did his uncle ask such a question today? He was a little worried that Qingyi would anger the Emperor.
"There's no reason. If you want to save him, just save him! How can you watch him die?" Qing Yi said casually. It was really disrespectful to speak to the emperor like this. Ye Qingyu and Eunuch Chang couldn't help but look at the Emperor Chu.
However, the King of Chu was not angry at all. Instead, he burst into laughter. "You are indeed a good man in the martial arts world, loyal and righteous. I have long wanted to meet you. Have you recovered?"
Qing Yi was stunned for a moment, then politely said, "Thank you, Your Majesty. I have recovered."
"Qingyu's poison has been a concern of mine for many years. Thanks to you, I was able to cure him. What reward do you want? I will definitely satisfy you!" Emperor Chu said generously.
Hearing this, Qing Yi's mind raced, "Wow, I've made a fortune! How much silver should I ask for?" He stole a glance at Ye Qingyu, and seeing her shake her head slightly, he immediately understood. He then said, "The young prince and I are friends who met in the martial arts world. Saving a friend is only natural. How can I ask for a reward?"
"I have made a vow before the Buddha that whoever can cure Qingyu will be rewarded handsomely! Even if you don't want it, I will definitely give it to you! If I don't, wouldn't I be deceiving the Buddha?"
When Qing Yi heard this, he thought: It would be a waste if I didn’t save Xiao Ye, even though I didn’t save her for your reward.
So, he knelt down unexpectedly and said, "Thank you, Your Majesty. I really don't know what I want. How about keeping it for now and giving it to me when I think of it?" He was asking the Emperor of Chu for an unknown benefit.
The King of Chu was stunned. He had thought Qing Yi would ask for a huge sum of gold or even an official position, but he had never expected him to have such a trick. He could only say, "Okay, I will give you everything I can to thank you for saving me."
"Thank you, Your Majesty." Qing Yi thanked him again.
At this moment, someone came to report that Uncle Xue came to ask to see the emperor.
The King of Chu nodded slightly, looked at Ye Qingyu and said, "Qingyu, the matter I have entrusted to you must be handled properly. You must not slack off in the slightest. You can go down."
"Yes, uncle." Ye Qingyu replied. Just as he was about to go down with Qingyi, he heard Emperor Chu calling him.
"Qingyu, wait a moment, I have a few words to tell you." The Emperor of Chu seemed to remember something and called Ye Qingyu again.
Ye Qingyu had no choice but to stop and wait for the Emperor Chu's instructions. Qingyi followed the eunuch out and waited for Ye Qingyu in the rest area outside.
As Qing Yi stepped out of the palace gate, he saw a man standing at the door. This man looked to be in his forties or fifties, not tall, slightly plump, with a round face, rosy and radiant complexion, and he looked like someone who lived a life of luxury.
The man also saw Qing Yi and seemed curious about who he was. He had never seen him in the palace before. However, the two of them just passed each other and did not exchange much. Only the eunuch who led Qing Yi saw this man and hurriedly bowed, respectfully addressing him as "Uncle of the Emperor."
"Young master, you can rest here." After the young eunuch said this, he turned and left.
Qing Yi surveyed the area. This was exactly where they had arrived, waiting for the message. He wondered, where was Qing Feng? Wasn't he waiting here? Why was there no one there? The place was completely silent, save for the occasional hurried footsteps of a young eunuch.
Qing Yi picked up the tea the eunuch had just brought him and took a sip. Just then, three people walked in. Leading the group was a young man wearing a bright red coat, a vibrant color that was quite eye-catching. Behind him were two men in grey robes, looking like guards.
The three of them were face to face with Qing Yi. Qing Yi, with his sharp eyes, recognized him instantly. This man was the arrogant young man he had met yesterday at Misty Rain Tower. He still remembered that he had thrown this boy into the lake, punished him severely, and then gently pulled him away. Why was this man here? Could he also be a relative of the King of Chu?
Qing Yi was immediately filled with grief: "Why did I run into this guy here? I hope his eyesight is not good and he doesn't recognize me."
Unfortunately, his wish was ultimately unfulfilled. The visitor not only recognized him immediately but also pointed him out directly.
"It's you?" The young man asked with surprise and anger, his eyes wide. The person who came was none other than Xue Guojiu's youngest son Xue An, and the current queen was his aunt.
Uncle Xue, named Xue Sijin, is the eldest brother of the current empress. He holds a prominent position in the court and holds immense power. He has three sons and one daughter. His daughter, Xue Ruoxi, is a beautiful woman. The Emperor of Chu once intended to marry her to Ye Qingyu as a princess, but Ye Qingyu refused the match.
Today, Uncle Xue brought Xue An to the palace to pay his respects to the Queen, and by the way, he also learned that Ye Qingyu had no intention of marrying. Uncle Xue went to discuss the follow-up matters with the Emperor of Chu, and asked Xue An to wait for him here for a while, and then leave the palace together after the matter was settled.
Coincidentally, he met Qing Yi who was also waiting for Ye Qingyu here.
"Oh my, I've been recognized!" Qing Yi secretly groaned in his heart, but he could only helplessly raise the corners of his mouth slightly, forcing a smile, and did not respond.
He was not afraid of Xue An, but he knew that in this deep palace, less trouble is worse than more. If he acted impulsively, it would probably cause unnecessary trouble for Xiao Ye.
"Block the door! Don't let this guy get away!" Xue An's eyes widened as he sternly ordered the two men beside him. Then, he pointed at Qing Yi and shouted, "Who are you and why are you here?"
