Lin Qingtong looked in the direction of the sound and saw a woman wearing a light green flowing dress standing on the second-floor terrace.
With her flowing hair and porcelain-white skin, she looked like a young woman in her early twenties.
She was taken aback; she had never seen this woman before at the Shen family's old residence.
Just as she was lost in thought, Shen Tinghe said something indifferently.
"mom."
Lin Qingtong's eyes widened as she looked at Shen Tinghe, then at the woman on the terrace.
She asked in a low voice, "Is this your mother?"
Shen Tinghe reached out and grabbed Lin Qingtong's hand, a smile appearing in his eyes.
"What, don't we look alike?"
As the two were talking, Sheng Rushuang from the second floor came down.
Her skirt fluttered as she smiled as she accepted the cake from Shen Tinghe's hand.
"I knew you would bring it."
Her tone was full of girlish charm, not at all like someone in their forties.
After accepting the cake, Sheng Rushuang looked at Lin Qingtong with a graceful demeanor.
"Hello, let me introduce myself. I am his mother, Sheng Rushuang."
Looking at the young and beautiful woman in front of her, Lin Qingtong found it hard to believe that she was actually Shen Tinghe's mother, since she didn't look her age at all.
In addition, she was dressed in a very youthful and fashionable way, looking much younger than the Second Madam Shen whom I had met before.
After only a moment, Lin Qingtong came to her senses and greeted Sheng Rushuang.
"Hello, my name is Lin Qingtong. It's nice to meet you, Auntie."
Sheng Rushuang smiled and waved her hand, "You can just call me sister."
Before she could finish speaking, Shen Tinghe stopped her from calling him "Auntie".
Lin Qingtong smiled and could only cooperate with Shen Tinghe by calling him "Auntie" before turning to look at him.
"Auntie is really young, and she looks a lot like you."
What I really want to say is that Sheng Rushuang must have paid a lot behind the scenes to survive in a den of wolves like the Shen family with such an attitude.
Shen Tinghe's expression turned cold as he took Lin Qingtong's hand and spoke to Sheng Rushuang.
"This is my girlfriend. I hope you'll be more careful in the future."
He left with a single sentence and then pulled Lin Qingtong toward the living room.
Lin Qingtong wondered why Shen Tinghe treated her mother in this way.
I just went out to buy a cake.
The thought of that tall figure squeezing into the tiny cake shop just to buy two cakes is unbearable.
Seeing that Lin Qingtong was staring at him, Shen Tinghe pursed his thin lips slightly before explaining.
"Don't mind me, because she left me alone at the Shen family's house back then, so I'm not very close to her."
“She has never really cared about me growing up.”
He wanted to explain why he was being cold, but as he got to the point, he probably didn't know how to bring up the past.
Lin Qingtong smiled gently, "It's alright, I understand."
Shen Tinghe's smile deepened upon hearing Lin Qingtong's words, and he put his arm around her shoulder as they walked into the living room.
The moment they stepped in, everyone in the living room turned their attention to them.
Master Shen sat on the sofa with the child in his arms, deliberately asking Shen Tinghe a question.
"Ninth Master, where is your mother? Why didn't she come?"
They had already seen Sheng Rushuang at home before, but they still insisted on asking Shen Tinghe about her here, just to provoke him.
Shen Tinghe, however, spoke as if he were already used to it: "She's in the back. Speaking of which, Second Brother doesn't look much like you."
He wasn't one to be bullied. When someone criticized him, he outwardly acknowledged it, but in reality, he retaliated without mercy.
When Master Shen learned the truth, he felt a sudden panic and immediately tried to cover it up.
"I was just saying a few words, why are you so easily angered?"
"Sit down quickly, she'll be here soon."
He gestured for Shen Tinghe to sit down, but Shen Tinghe did not sit down. Instead, he looked towards the door, as if waiting for something.
Soon, Sheng Rushuang appeared at the door.
She walked in with a slender figure, completely unconcerned about the strange looks she received.
She came to Shen Tinghe's side and slowly spoke.

Shen Tinghe spoke up appropriately: "No, so that some people won't say I'm unfilial or don't know manners."

Soon after the three of them sat down, Lin Qingtong suppressed a laugh and secretly glanced at Shen Tinghe, her fingers gently teasing his palm.
She hadn't expected Shen Tinghe and Sheng Rushuang to work so well together, managing to shut Shen Erye down with just a few words.
Master Shen's gaze swept over Shen Tinghe, and he snorted coldly.
"Your mother is back today, and we have something to tell you."
He turned to look at Shen Kaixuan beside him, "Brother, you tell me."
Shen Kaixuan sat upright in the main seat. Upon hearing this, he stood up and slowly uttered a sentence.
"I called you back today for two reasons: first, because Miss Sheng is back, and second, because of my son, Shen Tingyu."
"Anyway, he is of the Shen family bloodline. From now on, he will be my son. He has already been registered in the family genealogy."
"Most importantly, he will be my heir in the future, and he will also be a member of the Shen family."
His words were somewhat misleading; when the old master of the Shen family passed away, he had already designated Shen Tinghe as the heir.
Now he says that this baby in swaddling clothes is his heir, which is perfectly reasonable, but the following statement is not quite right.
