Chapter 124 I like you, I've always liked you

Chapter 124 I like you, I've always liked you

It was late at night when Jiang Yimian finished her work in her study at 11 p.m.

It started pouring rain outside at some point.

Jiang Yimian's eyelids kept twitching, and her mood became heavy because of the thick rain.

She rubbed her eyes, her tear ducts were stimulated and tears came out. She opened her phone and saw the message that Ah Long had sent half an hour ago.

[Ms. Jiang, Mr. Bo has been standing downstairs all day, and he refuses to leave even in the rain.]

Jiang Yimian frowned. What exactly did Bo Jinzhou want to do?

Playing the victim? Gaining sympathy?

Or is it some kind of self-inflicted injury scheme?

Jiang Yimian ignored it, went to the bedroom to take a shower, and sent a message to A Long when she came out, "Has he left?"

Ah Long: [Mr. Bo is still here, but I think he's almost at his limit.]

Jiang Yimian was stunned; she thought Bo Jinzhou had already left.

Looking out the window, thunder rumbled and the heavy rain showed no sign of letting up.

He got caught in the rain today, and he won't be able to get up tomorrow.

It would be best if she developed a high fever, so that she could go to the hospital.

[Susu, please help me book an appointment for 9 AM tomorrow.]

Tan Yusu: [Okay.]

Jiang Yimian wondered if all mothers who didn't want children were as heartless as she was.

She had heard that if a mother didn't want a child, the fetus in her womb would secrete a hormone that would influence the mother's body to try and keep the child.

But she didn't feel any reluctance.

Jiang Yimian gazed at the lights outside the window for a long time before finally moving, turning around, grabbing her umbrella, and heading out.

The raindrops fell in large drops, creating patterns like butterfly wings on the ground.

In the distance, a blurry figure stood.

Only when I got closer could I see who it was.

Bo Jinzhou stood there, his eyelashes pressed against the rain, making it hard to open his eyes. As if he sensed something, he struggled to lift his eyes to look over. The woman was slender, holding a black umbrella, her long hair falling smoothly to one side in front of her. She was wearing a beige nightgown and had a coat draped over her shoulders.

Bo Jinzhou opened his lips, his face so pale it was almost transparent. He was wearing only a soaked white shirt that clung tightly to his thin skin, revealing its clear contours.

The rain was too heavy. Jiang Yimian approached again, her eyes scanning him. The umbrella was too low to see his face, so she could only raise it higher. "What exactly do you want?"

"You think I'll soften up if you put on a melodramatic show here? No way, let me tell you."

The rain pounded on the umbrella, the dense, muffled sound mixing with her voice. Although she tried to speak loudly, her voice was still much muffled by the sound of the rain.

Bo Jinzhou blinked, raindrops falling from his eyelashes. He reached out to hold her hand, but Jiang Yimian pulled her hand back. "Don't come. Just sign the divorce papers and get the divorce certificate. That's the best outcome for us right now."

Bo Jinzhou felt another pang in his heart. He stepped forward, took her hand holding the umbrella handle, bent down to look at her, and pleaded in his voice, "...Could we...not get a divorce?"

His voice was hoarse, and each word fell into Jiang Yimian's ears.

Her delicate eyebrows furrowed almost imperceptibly. "We must leave."

Her words were ruthless and cold, gradually breaking down Bo Jinzhou's defenses.

He seemed trapped in a cycle, a voice inside him telling him to let go, but he stubbornly refused.

He knew that if they got divorced, she would never turn back, given her decisive nature, and then there would truly be no possibility for them.

Bo Jinzhou wanted to hug her, but he couldn't. He could only stand helplessly in front of her, like a child who couldn't find his way home.

"Tomorrow, I'll take you to see the best psychologist, and we'll get you cured... It's my fault, I'm sorry, I didn't know..."

He spoke incoherently, apologizing incessantly. His hands were icy cold, and as he held her warm hand, the chill seeped into his very bones.

Jiang Yimian's eyes were filled with complex emotions, and her heart clenched with each beat. "What are you talking about?"

Bo Jinzhou's chest trembled as he stared at her heavily, "Eight years ago, in the warehouse of Qingyue Villa..."

He dared not say the rest. Jiang Yimian's pupils dilated, and she clenched her other hand tightly.

“Because of me, you got sick…” He struggled to speak, his voice growing more and more painful. “Why did you hide it from me and refuse to tell me?”

"If you want revenge, you can use me, but I've also harmed you. Why don't you torture me too?"

"Wouldn't it be better to just tell me directly so I can get revenge?"

Jiang Yimian's eyes held a hint of sarcasm: "Do you think you're that important?"

"I got sick just because I was scared by the fire. What makes you think you're worth me going to such lengths to deal with? Just because of our childhood friendship?"

"Heh... We have no relationship whatsoever, just a little better than ordinary friends. In my opinion, we've simply fallen out. I've taken advantage of you, and you don't owe me anything anymore."

"Mr. Bo, this is the end of it. Everything is over. You live your life and I live mine. We have nothing to do with each other. Why do you have to make yourself look so miserable here? If outsiders see this, they will think that I have wronged you."

Bo Jinzhou staggered, lost his footing, felt dizzy, and knelt down on one knee, his knee slamming hard on the ground. Jiang Yimian was so shocked that she took a step back.

He could accept anything, including being used and seeking revenge, but he couldn't accept Jiang Yimian saying that he had no place in his heart.

He's not even as good as Su Yan, Su Yuwan, and Lu Wenchang, because he's not worth the trouble she has to deal with.

She didn't care about him at all; he was just a friend who had been betrayed. They had broken off their friendship and drifted apart, so it wasn't a big deal.

His heart was throbbing with pain, and he gasped for breath. Rainwater entered his mouth and nose, and he coughed violently. Blood began to seep from his lower back; the spot where he had been shot earlier was inflamed and the stitches were bursting again.

If he had taken good care of it, it would have scabbed over in two months, but he had been neglecting it, which caused the wound to keep breaking open and becoming inflamed.

Bo Jinzhou tried to see even a hint of affection in her. His voice was hoarse as he struggled to speak: "You used to love me."

He looked up at the cold indifference in her eyes, but remained unmoved.

Jiang Yimian glanced at him with a condescending disdain, "You said it yourself, that was in the past. It's normal for teenagers to have feelings for each other. It was just a small episode."

These words left Bo Jinzhou heartbroken, and Jiang Yimian was equally distressed. This was the first time she had ever liked someone so deeply, and even now, she still felt sorry for her past self.

"Besides, you didn't like me back then, so my unrequited love wasn't a big deal."

Bo Jinzhou shook his head, struggling to speak: "No, I like you, I've always liked you, I've only ever liked you..."

Jiang Yimian's eyes widened in shock, and she looked at him with disbelief. "What do you mean?"

Bo Jinzhou held her hand tightly. "I've liked you before. It wasn't unrequited love, it wasn't... It's just that I didn't recognize my own feelings. I was too proud to admit it."

He had always regarded Jiang Yimian as family, as a younger sister, and his feelings for her were too strong for him to admit.
