Chapter 137 Farewell

After winter ended, Yin Xue and Shen Yue decided to set off on a journey.

At the gates of the capital before their parting, Qu Jingyun looked at Shen Yue with reluctance and gently stroked her cheek.

He whispered a warning: "You two must be careful in everything you do. If anything happens, you can send us a message."

Seeing the two nod, he then turned his gaze to the guards beside him.

"You must also protect the young mistress and young lady well, and make sure they are not harmed."

Qu Jingyun couldn't help but give her more instructions, but Shen Yue saw the worry in her eyes and couldn't bear to interrupt.

Shen Yunting, who was standing to the side, couldn't stand it any longer and hurriedly spoke up: "Jingyun, if you keep talking like this, I'm afraid they will have a hard time reaching the next town before dark."

After hearing this, Qu Jingyun stopped talking, took a deep look at Chen Yue, and then turned around and waved for them to leave.

Her eyes were red, but she didn't show her disappointment because they were outside.

Only after getting into the carriage did she throw herself into Shen Yunting's arms without any hesitation and begin to sob softly.

Shen Yunting looked helpless and gently looked at her back to comfort her.

He said in a low voice, "You weren't this reluctant to let Song'er go to the border back then."

"How can that be the same?" Qu Jingyun said irritably.

“Song’er is already quite old, and he has been training in the military for many years. What do I have to worry about? Not to mention the outrageous things he did recently. If he is capable of such things, then I have even less to worry about.”

Qu Jingyun snorted and then said, "But Yue'er is different. She is young and has not been learning martial arts for long. If she really encounters bad people, I don't know if she will be able to fight back."

"Besides, you have no idea how badly Yue'er was tormented by that old hag Qi Yun'er over the past five years. She's only just starting to get a little better now. I'm just worried that she still has psychological trauma."

Qu Jingyun couldn't help but start muttering to herself.

When she returned and saw Shen Yue's condition, she felt incredibly heartbroken.

Now that he had finally recovered somewhat, he left her side again.

Qu Jingyun always knew that her child would eventually leave her side after growing up.

But now that they're all leaving her one by one, she still can't quite accept it.

Shen Yunting naturally understood Qu Jingyun's grievances and embraced her in his arms.

She said softly, "The child certainly can't stay with us for long, but don't worry, I will always be by your side and won't let you be lonely."

Unexpectedly, Qu Jingyun's face immediately fell down after she said that.

She even reached out and rudely pushed him away.

"What's wrong with you?" Shen Yunting asked, puzzled.

"You have the nerve to say that? We've been married for twenty years, and the number of years you've spent by my side can be counted on one hand." Qu Jingyun rolled her eyes.

She complained, "And then there's the children. They're all leaving us, yet you don't seem to care at all. In my opinion, you're heartless."

“Your children didn’t grow up by your side, so you have no feelings for them. I’ve finally seen through you.”

Seeing Qu Jingyun's indignant expression, Shen Yunting felt helpless.

She hurriedly reached out her hand and said with a wry smile, "You're wronging me. I'm just reserved and don't easily express my emotions."

"You can't expect me to cry with you, can you?"

"Why not?" Qu Jingyun retorted, dissatisfied. "Those are our children. Now they are far away from us, traveling alone. What's wrong with us feeling sorry for them and crying?"

"You're putting me in a difficult position." Shen Yunting's wry smile was obvious.

She then said, "When have you ever seen me cry like this? On the contrary, you've become a little crybaby in the years we haven't seen each other."

"Is it not allowed?" Qu Jingyun retorted again.

As if struck by a thought, a smile appeared on his lips as he looked up at Shen Yunting.

Shen Yunting felt a growing unease and looked at her warily.

"what are you up to?"

Qu Jingyun chuckled and then said, "Have you forgotten? I used to beat you until you cried when you were little. What are you pretending for now?"

Shen Yunting's face flushed instantly, and he turned his head away somewhat embarrassed.

He had almost forgotten about it, so why did Qu Jingyun bring it up again?

"Don't be shy, you were especially cute back then." Qu Jingyun cupped Shen Yunting's face, forcing him to look at her.

He nodded solemnly: "They really are incredibly cute."

"Stop talking." Shen Yunting said angrily.

The more he acted this way, the more interested Qu Jingyun became.

She leaned closer again, smiling, and said, "I don't mind you, and I don't think there's anything wrong with you being like this, so what's the big deal?"

She would shake her head with a hint of smugness.

But the next moment, she couldn't speak.

Shen Yunting lowered his head and, with lightning speed, captured her red lips, eagerly sucking on them.

Within moments, she began to have some difficulty breathing.

Her body went limp, and she nestled into Shen Yunting's arms.

It wasn't until much later that Shen Yunting finally released her.

Qu Jingyun was panting heavily, her cheeks flushed red.

She glanced sideways at Shen Yunting, her expression full of charm.

Shen Yunting's throat tightened as he looked down, but the other person covered his mouth, and he looked at the other person with displeasure.

His mouth continued moving, and he took the opportunity to kiss Qu Jingyun's palm.

Qu Jingyun felt her palm burning, and hurriedly let go of her, quickly dodging to the side, looking at her warily.

After being married for many years, she knew him all too well.

Shen Yunting's eyes were clearly...

"Why are you in such a hurry to hide?" Shen Yunting looked at Qu Jingyun with lingering interest, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Qu Jingyun glared at him: "Don't you know why I'm hiding?"

"We've been married for so many years, why are you still as shy as a little girl?" Shen Yunting couldn't help but say, "In this situation, shouldn't you just throw yourself into my arms?"

“It’s like…” Shen Yunting paused, his smile deepening.

She continued, "Just like when we first got married."

"You." Qu Jingyun's mind raced, her expression growing increasingly flustered as she avoided Shen Yunting's aggressive gaze.

He muttered under his breath, "Don't say anything out of line, or I'll get angry."

Seeing this, Shen Yunting didn't say anything more, but just smiled and remained silent.

He knew in his heart that if things continued like this, Qu Jingyun would probably really get angry and embarrassed.

He waited until the other person calmed down before speaking, "Okay, I won't bother you anymore, sit back down."

Even so, Qu Jingyun sat far away from Shen Yunting, as if she was afraid he would do something.

Seeing this, Shen Yunting leaned back against the carriage and pretended to be asleep.

Qu Jingyun then sat back down with a sense of relief, and couldn't help but look at Shen Yunting.
