Chapter 164 Awakening

You seem to be in a good mood.

On the way back in the carriage, Shen Yunting looked at Qu Jingyun, who had a smile on her lips, and couldn't help but speak up.

At the same time, Shen Yue, Shen Song, Yin Xue, and the others also looked over, their faces showing confusion.

Everyone looked curious as to why Qu Jingyun was so happy.

As early as the start of the war, Shen Song had already revealed his identity as the eldest son of the Shen family, and he distinguished himself in the war, making outstanding contributions.

The Emperor was already aware of the matter and issued an imperial edict to the border, promising further rewards upon his return to the capital.

Moreover, there was no one in the army to be wary of, so the whole family rode in the same carriage on the way back.

Qu Jingyun cleared her throat, then glanced at everyone and said mysteriously, "Have you seen Qu Jiu?"

"No." Everyone shook their heads in unison.

But then Qu Jingyun's smile grew wider and wider, and then she said, "When I come back, I'll have Qu Jiu beat up Atasha before I leave, to teach her a lesson for daring to drug Yun Ting."

Qu Jingyun said indignantly, "I thought about it all night last night, and the more I thought about it, the more I felt that it was too easy for Atasha to just leave like this."

Upon hearing this, Shen Yunting smiled awkwardly and didn't say anything more.

Qu Jingyun, however, misunderstood his expression and looked at him with displeasure: "What's with that expression? Are you feeling sorry for Atasha?"

Shen Yunting cried out that he was wronged and hurriedly said, "How could this be? How could I possibly feel sorry for her?"

He glanced at the group of people watching the spectacle out of the corner of his eye, and quickly said, "I'm just feeling a little embarrassed that the kids heard about my embarrassing past."

Qu Jingyun then realized her mistake and smiled apologetically, "I spoke a little too quickly just now, don't mind it, we're all family anyway."

An unease crept into her eyes, especially when she saw the three children's teasing gazes.

Finally, she turned to Chen Song and Yin Xue, changing the subject: "What about you two? You seem different than before. Have you made up?"

Yin Xue blushed instantly at the sudden question and lowered her head in embarrassment.

Seeing this, Shen Song quickly stepped forward to block Yin Xue behind her and said, "Mother can see it, why do you have to say it?"

"So you two have really made up?" Qu Jingyun thought for a moment and then asked, "Is it because of Song'er's injury a couple of days ago?"

Two days ago, Shen Song was injured on the battlefield. When Yin Xue learned of this, she was shocked and rushed over, crying uncontrollably.

Fortunately, Shen Song only suffered minor injuries, and after regaining consciousness, the two had a frank conversation.

Yin Xue also had to admit that deep down she still couldn't completely give up on Chen Song.

She also increasingly missed the scenes of the two of them when they were children, and after thinking it over, she decided to forgive Chen Song.

Now, when Qu Jingyun asked her this, Yin Xue felt shy, but she still mustered up her courage and said, "We have been through too much together. For the rest of my life, I only want to be with my husband."

“I had already made up my mind that day. As long as my husband is alive, nothing else matters, let alone all that has happened. I have forgotten all the things that happened in the past.”

After saying this, the two looked at each other, their eyes filled with tenderness.

Seeing this, Qu Jingyun finally breathed a sigh of relief, knowing she would no longer have to worry about the two of them.

As for Zhang Hu, he had been unconscious since the day he was seriously injured and fell into a coma, and only slowly woke up on the way back to Beijing.

Looking at himself alone in the carriage, he shouted in a hoarse voice, "Help! Help! Is no one going to do anything for this general?"

After quite a while, he finally managed to call someone over.

"Give me water," Zhang Hu finally managed to say.

The soldier rudely forced a sip of water down his throat, then asked, "Is there anything else?"

This attitude infuriated Zhang Hu, who snorted coldly and said, "What kind of attitude is this? Believe me or not, I'll deal with you according to military law."

Unexpectedly, the soldier said nonchalantly, "Do you still think you're Deputy General Zhang? You're a criminal now."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Hu's eyes widened immediately, and he retorted sharply, "What crime have I committed?"

"You framed General Shen for treason and collusion with the enemy; your crime is unforgivable," the soldier said coldly, his eyes filled with contempt as he looked at Zhang Hu.

As a soldier, the people he hated most were those who colluded with the enemy and betrayed their country.

Not to mention that General Shen was the person he admired most, and he was almost injured because of the person in front of him, so naturally he didn't give Zhang Hu a good look.

"Do you have any evidence? This is Shen Yunting's frame-up against me. I did nothing wrong. He's trying to harm me. When I return to the capital, I will definitely ask the Emperor to uphold justice for me." Zhang Hu was flustered inside, but he appeared righteous on the surface.

He was certain that he hadn't left any clues when he did those things, and that Shen Yunting would never find any evidence.

But to his surprise, the soldier in front of him looked at him with an increasingly strange gaze.

Unable to resist asking, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"It's nothing." The soldier shook his head, not answering Zhang Hu's question.

Instead, he said, "General Shen said that you should notify him after you regain consciousness. He will be here soon. If you have any questions, you should ask him."

Zhang Hu's unease grew stronger, and seeing that the soldier remained silent, he didn't press the matter further.

They waited until Shen Yunting's gaze came into view.

He glared fiercely at Shen Yunting and questioned him defiantly, "You're framing me! I've never done anything to betray the country or collude with the enemy. The Emperor will surely uphold justice for me. You won't have a good end."

"Heh." Shen Yunting sneered, then threw the imperial edict at Zhang Hu's face.

"Then you should watch closely and see if the Emperor will uphold justice for you."

Zhang Hu opened the imperial edict with a blank expression, his face turning deathly pale.

The imperial edict had already stated his crimes, and he was just waiting to be returned to the capital for punishment.

"Thanks to you, the Emperor has now overcome his fear of me. Moreover, this matter concerns treason, so even if the Emperor were still wary of me, he could not possibly be lenient with you." Shen Yunting's expression was unfriendly.

He then continued, "You should know Yunniang, right? She and your men have confessed all your crimes, and the evidence is irrefutable. I have sent all the evidence and confessions to the capital. This time, you have no chance to turn things around."

Zhang Hu's face turned deathly pale instantly. How could this be?

Shen Yunting sneered again: "I won again this time. You are destined to be my defeated opponent."

"I don't believe it, I can't possibly lose to you." Zhang Hu's expression became increasingly manic.

But in an instant, his expression suddenly changed. He looked up at Shen Yunting, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
