Chapter 49 Taking the Initiative to Confess

That night, Qi Mingyue returned from behind looking flustered.

Upon learning that Qu Jingyun had locked up Qi Yun'er and wouldn't allow her to visit her, Qi Mingyue was terrified and instinctively wanted to leave the mansion to consult with the Fifth Prince.

Seeing that she was about to leave, Qi Hao grabbed her hand and scolded her impatiently, "Why are you running around like that?"

Qi Mingyue impatiently shook off his hand and asked irritably, "If you're not going to run now, are you going to stay here and wait to die?"

Upon hearing this, Qi Hao scoffed disdainfully.

He let go of the person and sat down, then crossed his legs. "What's the rush? No matter how tightly Qu Jingyun tries to hide it, there will always be leaks. I've already found out that Qu Jingyun blamed Mother for Shen Song running away to meet Lin Qingping."

Upon hearing this, a look of disdain flashed across Qi Mingyue's eyes.

Since it's because of this, there's nothing to rush.

She glanced at Qi Hao and suddenly frowned: "That crazy woman is probably going to be acting crazy for a while longer. Don't provoke her recently."

Qi Hao glanced at Qi Mingyue, "You should mind your own business. I can handle my own affairs."

"That would be best."

Too lazy to waste words with her spoiled younger brother, Qi Mingyue turned and walked out.

Upon entering Shenyue's courtyard, Qi Mingyue walked straight up to Shenyue.

She cut to the chase: "I already know you stole the defense map from your aunt's study."

Snap—

The teacup fell to the ground and shattered, spilling tea stains onto Qi Mingyue's clothes.

Qi Mingyue immediately frowned in disgust, "You can't even hold a teacup properly, you're really a good-for-nothing."

"I'm not!" Shen Yue retorted sharply, her eyes red.

Then Shen Yue looked towards the door.

Seeing that no one else was around, Shen Yue asked in a panic, "Where did you hear this news from? It's all fake, don't believe it."

"oh?"

Qi Mingyue suddenly approached Shen Yue and smiled sinisterly.

"If it's really fake, then what are you afraid of?"

"I..." Shen Yue avoided her eyes, lowered her head and said in a panic, "I'm not scared, I'm not scared."

Seeing that she was still pretending to be stupid, Qi Mingyue pinched her chin and forced her to look up and meet her eyes.

Seeing the barely concealed fear in Shen Yue's eyes, Qi Mingyue laughed and said, "You really are quite filial. On the surface, you are filial to your aunt, but behind her back you are in cahoots with the Fifth Prince and even steal your aunt's things. If you are used by someone with ulterior motives, we will all be buried with you."

Shen Yue shook her head in fear.

"That's not it, I..."

Before she could finish speaking, Qi Mingyue suddenly released her, and Shen Yue lost her balance and fell to the ground.

Qi Mingyue took a step back. "You don't need to play the victim in front of me. I'll talk to my aunt. You'll be in for a beating."

After saying that, Qi Mingyue turned around and was about to walk out.

"No." Shen Yue instinctively hugged Qi Mingyue's leg and pleaded softly, "I will ask the Fifth Prince to return the defense map. Please, don't go to my mother."

Qi Mingyue bent down, her fox-like eyes filled with calculation.

She stared at Shen Yue for a while, then laughed.

"Come here." She beckoned to Shen Yue with her finger.

Shen Yue immediately moved closer.

Qi Mingyue said with a smile, "How about you kowtow to me? Then I'll tell you, how about that?"

Kneel before Qi Mingyue?

Shen Yue's face turned pale, and her eyes quickly filled with tears. "Sister Mingyue, why did you do this?"

"Because I'm happy." Qi Mingyue bent down and patted her face, making no attempt to hide her malice, and said, "If you don't kowtow to me, I'll go tell my aunt right now. You know my aunt's temper; she might just kick you out of the General's Mansion."

As Shen Yue listened to Qi Mingyue say these things, her body trembled even more violently.

It felt as if Qu Jingyun would come in and kick him out at any moment.

She had finally gained her mother's love and didn't want to be kicked out.

Seeing that the person was still hesitating, Qi Mingyue frowned and asked, "Have you thought it through? Should you kowtow or should I go tell your aunt?"

Shen Yue glanced at Qi Mingyue, then looked outside.

Suddenly, she stood up.

Qi Mingyue looked at her suspiciously, "What do you want to do?"

Shen Yue clenched her fists and stated her decision: "I will personally go to apologize to my mother."

After saying that, Shen Yue strode out.

A flash of joy crossed Qi Mingyue's eyes.

She pretended to be very worried: "You'd better think it over. If you tell your aunt, she might kick you out of the General's Mansion."

Shen Yue's attitude was very firm.

“You’re right. Although I pleaded with the Fifth Prince for my brother’s sake, I really didn’t care about the safety of the General’s Mansion and my mother. It was my fault, and it’s only right that I apologize.”

After finishing her sentence, Shen Yue turned and walked out.

These days have been agonizing for her, as she struggles every day with whether or not to tell Qu Jingyun.

After being provoked by Qi Mingyue today, she realized that she should tell Qu Jingyun.

She accepted whatever the final outcome might be.

Before leaving, Shen Yue glanced at Qi Mingyue one last time.

"Sister Mingyue, don't try to threaten me to sow discord between me and my mother. I will not be coerced by you!"

After saying that, Shen Yue turned around and strode out.

Seeing that the person had left, Qi Mingyue scoffed dismissively.

"What an idiot."

They don't even know how to use reverse psychology.

Main courtyard.

Shen Yue nervously entered the study under the guidance of the nanny.

Seeing that Qu Jingyun was still writing and drawing, she stood quietly to the side.

After an unknown amount of time, Qu Jingyun looked up at Chen Yue.

"Moon, what brings you here?"

"Mother." Shen Yue knelt heavily on the ground, raised her head and looked at her with teary eyes: "I have made a terrible mistake, unforgivable. Please punish me, Mother."

Qu Jingyun washed her hands and then waved away all the servants.

She stepped forward and stood in front of Shen Yue, looking down at her: "Then tell me, where did you go wrong?"

"I..." Shen Yue opened her mouth, but still seemed hesitant to speak.

After waiting for a long time without Shen Yue taking the initiative to confess, Qu Jingyun's eyes gradually revealed disappointment.

She picked up her teacup, sat down, and gazed thoughtfully at Chenyue while fiddling with the lid.

"It's getting late. If you have nothing else to say, you should go back."

Seeing that she wanted to send her away, Shen Yue panicked.

Shen Yue crawled on her knees to Qu Jingyun and grabbed her skirt: "Mother, I have done something wrong that may endanger you and everyone in the General's Mansion. Please punish me."

"oh?"

Qu Jingyun feigned seriousness and put on a stern face, "Then tell me, what wrong did you do?"

“I…” Shen Yue steeled her heart and said, “My daughter stole the defense map and gave it to the Fifth Prince.”

After speaking, Shen Yue raised her head and looked at Qu Jingyun with trepidation.

Seeing that Qu Jingyun was still there, Shen Yue was somewhat bewildered.

She asked timidly, "Isn't Mother angry?"

“You’re a good child if you dare to admit your mistakes to your mother. As for the rest…” She flicked Chen Yue’s forehead and laughed, “Do you really think your mother would put something so important in such an obvious place?”

Shen Yue was stunned.

She stared blankly at Qu Jingyun for a long time, then asked uncertainly, "Mother, what do you mean by this?"

Qu Jingyun helped the person up and pointed to the seat next to her, indicating that she should sit down first.
