Qu Jingyun's face flashed with mockery as she looked at Shen Cong and his sister.
"Are you stupid enough to try and break someone out of prison?"
Shen Yue was intimidated by her sharp gaze, and her body trembled involuntarily.
Shen Cong immediately shielded his sister, saying, "This was my idea. If you won't save your brother, we'll go save him ourselves."
“Yes, sister. Cong’er and Yue’er also love their brother. You’ve never taken care of them for more than a few days since they were little, so you don’t understand the feelings between the children. They can’t do what you did and just watch Song’er go to his death.”
As she spoke, Qi Yun'er clutched her chest.
"Not to mention them, even I feel heartbroken just thinking about Song'er suffering in prison."
Seeing how pretentious she was, Qu Jingyun let out another light scoff.
She gave Qu Jiu a wink.
Qu Jiu immediately stepped forward and grabbed Qi Yun'er.
Upon seeing this, Qi Yun'er panicked.
She looked at Qu Jingyun in fear, "Cousin, don't forget that my mother died to save your parents. If you want to hurt me, have you thought about how sad my aunt will be? Have you forgotten my aunt's last words?"
Qu Jingyun clenched her fists.
She certainly hadn't forgotten.
If it weren't for her mother's dying words of advice to take good care of Qi Yun'er, Qi Yun'er would have died several times over by now.
Qu Jingyun warned sternly, "Qi Yun'er, I will not tolerate you forever. If you dare to cause trouble in front of my father and trigger his old illness, I will make sure you die a horrible death!"
In an instant, the surrounding temperature dropped.
An invisible pressure swept over them, and the hairs on everyone's bodies stood on end.
Qu Jingyun's cold eyes fell back on Shen Cong and his sister.
"What exactly do you want to do!" Shen Cong dared not make a move and could only grit his teeth and glare angrily at Qu Jingyun.
Qu Jingyun sighed and walked to the stone bench to sit down.
Having just returned, she had spent too little time with her children and didn't want them to be exposed to these things too early. But if she didn't reveal her plans today, she feared they might really make a big mistake.
So be it.
Qu Jingyun's expression turned solemn: "What I said to you today must not be mentioned to anyone else."
Since meeting her, the brother and sister had never seen her so serious. Shen Cong barely suppressed his anger and looked at her.
“Eight years ago, His Majesty feared that your father’s achievements would overshadow his own, so he exiled him to the frontier. The reason you have remained in the capital all these years is partly because you intend to send him as a hostage. Lin Qingping is indeed a princess of the previous dynasty. Your eldest brother is extremely foolish to protect a princess of the previous dynasty in front of His Majesty. Do you know what kind of consequences this will bring?”
She spoke sharply and sternly, and the two of them, who had never heard such words before, were both stunned.
Shen Yue pondered along with her, murmuring, "The Emperor will suspect that our family is plotting a rebellion..."
"Not too stupid." Qu Jingyun looked at her daughter approvingly, then coaxed her gently, "Have you noticed anything unusual in the mansion or the neighborhood lately?"
Shen Cong was startled, his voice trembling.
"There are many more people in the mansion lately, and even more people are passing by the gate."
Qu Jingyun nodded again: "That's right. Countless people are eyeing our General's Mansion, trying to find fault with us. And today, you actually dared to attempt a prison break!"
The harsh rebuke struck the brother and sister hard on the head, and both of them turned pale instantly, finally realizing how stupid they had been discussing!
Shen Yue was on the verge of tears: "Mother, what about what we just said? Could it be... could it be..."
Shen Cong's face was also pale, but he clenched his fists firmly: "If word gets out, it will be my fault alone!"
Qu Jingyun looked at the two children, and finally a sense of relief appeared in her eyes.
It was worth the time she spent talking to them; both children are good children, they just need time to be properly raised.
A smile finally appeared on her face: "Do you really think your mother is so heartless as to let your eldest brother suffer in prison?"
His expression was full of confidence, as if he had the whole situation under control. The two men immediately breathed a sigh of relief, and a look of shame appeared on their faces: "Then, brother..."
Qu Jingyun said, "I told you, he won't be in any trouble. He'll be back safe and sound in the next couple of days. You all stay here in the manor."
As she spoke, she smiled again, her face finally showing a hint of lightness: "Besides, your father will be able to return to the capital soon."
"Father?!" The two were immediately shocked and overjoyed.
They had no idea when they last saw their father; they couldn't even remember his face.
But thinking of what she had just said, Shen Yue felt very uneasy. Her doe eyes widened, and she stammered, "But...but didn't you say...that Father really can come back?"
Qu Jingyun smiled gently, but her gaze was firm. She said softly, "Of course."
Success depends on human effort.
After comforting the two children, Qu Jingyun ordered someone to take them back to their room, and then returned to her own room.
Qu Jiu landed silently behind him: "Master, everything is ready."
Qu Jingyun suddenly turned around, her bright eyes shining, her slender body exuding a decisive and ruthless aura, her voice cold and deep.
"Set off."
Under the cover of darkness, the group quietly infiltrated the prison.
The prison was dark and damp, with a strong smell of blood.
Qu Jingyun, hidden in the shadows, waved to signal the person behind her to come forward.
The dozen or so people immediately rushed forward.
In the prison, Lin Qingping leaned against Shen Song's chest, her eyes filled with emotion.
"Shen Lang went to jail for me, and Qingping will remember that for the rest of her life..."
At this moment, a dozen or so men in black suddenly appeared at the door and knelt down in front of Lin Qingping. The leader's voice trembled as he said, "Your Majesty, I am late in coming to your rescue. Please forgive me!"
Both of them were startled, and Lin Qingping immediately stood up: "Who are you?"
The leader then said, "I am a subordinate of Lord Cao Li. Lord Cao Li died saving the princess back then. I have been hiding in the court for many years, just to wait for the princess to return and restore the former dynasty!"
Few people knew that Cao Li had died saving her years ago, so Lin Qingping immediately believed him and said, suppressing her excitement, "Since you've come to save this princess, why don't you open the door quickly!"
The man immediately opened the door, then hesitated before glancing at Chen Song: "Princess, what are your plans with this man?"
Shen Song was shocked to learn that she was actually a princess from the previous dynasty. After a moment of painful struggle, she resolutely said, "Wherever you go, I will go with you."
Unexpectedly, Lin Qingping, who had just been in her arms with eyes full of emotion, suddenly sneered.
Her gaze was icy as she looked down at him condescendingly: "A piece of trash, unable to protect anything, what use is he?"
A cold, ruthless voice exploded in her ears in an instant, and Chen Song looked at her in disbelief.
"Qingping, didn't you say that we were a perfect match and could never be separated in this lifetime?"
Lin Qingping looked at him with a mocking expression.
"I was just saying it casually to coax you, and you actually believed it. How incredibly foolish."
Seeing the other person's shocked and heartbroken expression, Lin Qingping curled her lips into a cold smile.
"Kill him, lest he reveal my whereabouts."
