Chapter 14: Exploring Campus Legends Almost as soon as the words fell, the surroundings were shaken...

They were so busy reveling that they didn't spare Elliot.

Now, no one will let him go.

John's body continued to sink, his head, elbows, wrists, fingertips...

Finally, he disappeared completely.

Si Ling landed, kicked the soft soil with his shoes, covered the small holes left by his index finger, and whispered leisurely, "Elliot may forgive you."

She sneered: "But we won't."

"Go to hell and repent."

.

The cool breeze started to blow again, and this time the thick fog and white smoke really began to dissipate bit by bit, and the moonlight that came down was no longer so pale.

Ah Zhui floated out from the depths of the forest and landed beside Si Ling. Si Ling picked up the sound transmission talisman and said, "Principal Lucifer, we are done."

The first voice that rang out from the sound transmission talisman was the werewolf Fenric's voice: "Kill them all?!"

Si Ling hesitated for a moment, suddenly feeling unsure, and asked, "Just three?"

Fenric said nothing more. Lucifer smiled and said, "Yes, just three of you. You did a great job. We should go back."

Si Ling nodded, put away the sound transmission note, and walked with Ah Zhu towards the bus parked on the opposite side of the road. The others also came out of the villa one after another. Lucifer stood at the door of the bus, waiting for everyone to gather. He snapped his fingers and said, "Summarize the results."

After saying this, he first looked at Elizabeth, the zombie bride who had achieved the first kill: "Elizabeth, one kill." He then turned his head to look at Aymeric and Willey who were already on the bus, "Aymeric and Willey, one kill."

According to the scoring convention of the Ghost Academy, group tasks do not need to be evenly distributed among individuals, but everyone can keep track of the number of heads.

For example, if Aymeric and Vile work together to kill Matthias, each of them can be counted as 1 kill, instead of 0.5 per person.

So Lucifer turned back and smiled after he finished speaking: "Si Ling and A Zhui, triple kill."

Everyone's expressions froze for a moment, especially Alice and the three werewolf brothers who didn't get the head. Their faces looked extremely ugly.

"Wait a minute, Mr. Principal." Si Ling lowered his eyes and thought, "When I met those three people, John and Henrik's SAN values were 80%, and Julian's was 70%. Adding up 70% less, rounded up, it's almost equal to a person's full SAN value."

"Considering how easily they lost SAN later on, and that's probably related to the series of shocks they received in the villa earlier, I think—" She raised her eyes and smiled slightly, "It's not fair to credit all three of them to us. Ah Zhui and I will each credit two kills, and you can take care of the remaining one."

Lucifer's eyebrows twitched slightly, and his eyes quickly swept over the other students. He said, "We've never had such a precedent, but if you insist..." He hesitated for a moment, "To be fair, this killing can be attributed to everyone - I mean, including you two."

After counting this way, Si Ling and A Zhui each got two kills, Aimerick and Willey each got two kills, and Elizabeth got two kills. The three werewolf brothers and Alice, who originally got nothing, each got one kill.

This did not prevent Si Ling from doing a favor, while ensuring that she and A Zhu still won the MVP of the game.

It is a little better.

Si Ling smiled and nodded: "Thank you."

"It's settled then!" Lucifer announced.

The three werewolf brothers cheered softly. Between goblins, strength was everything. While a single mission meant nothing, getting 0 kills was still quite embarrassing. It was completely different from being at the bottom with 1 kill.

"Let's go, let's go back." Lucifer turned and got into the car. Fenric nudged Si Ling with his strong elbow and said, "Thank you. I'll treat you tonight—not to the cafeteria, I know there are some good restaurants in Lingbo City."

"Lingbo City?" Si Ling had never heard of this place. Lucifer overheard their conversation and turned around to explain, "It's similar to your Fengdu, where ghosts live."

"Oh..." Si Ling suddenly realized, and the second werewolf Ulric echoed: "That's right, 0 kills is too embarrassing. Thank you for saving us from this embarrassment. We must treat you!"

"Okay, thank you." Si Ling smiled and accepted it frankly.

After that, she also got on the bus and sat down with Ah Zhui in a random two-person seat. The three werewolf brothers sat together in the last row, because the five seats in that row allowed them to sit together and better accommodate their sturdy physiques.

Alice had returned to the music box, held in Elizabeth's arms. As she passed Si Ling's seat, Alice opened the wooden lid: "Si Ling, thank you! If you have time, I'll treat you tomorrow night..."

"Snap." Elizabeth snapped the lid back on and stopped beside Si Ling's seat. "This time, the target used a gun to fight back. This is the weakness of physical ghosts. You're lucky."

Elizabeth tilted her head and looked at her. "But you won't be this lucky every time."

"Elizabeth, that's enough!" Aymeric, who was sitting diagonally in front of Si Ling, stood up and frowned.

Elizabeth looked at him in disbelief. He looked at Si Ling, his eyes filled with a pleading expression that only Si Ling could understand: "We are all very grateful to you, really."

Si Ling understood that Aymeric was afraid that she would scare Elizabeth at night.

She suppressed her laughter and said with a hint of meaning, "You're welcome. We're all classmates, what's so hard to discuss?"

Aymeric breathed a sigh of relief: "Anyway...thank you very much."

Elizabeth gritted her teeth and stared at Si Ling hatefully, but in the end she said nothing more and sat in the back.

Lucifer confirmed that everyone was seated securely, and the ghost driver started the bus. The successful completion of the mission put Professor Mimir in a good mood. His normally talkative mind sang songs from the passenger seat the entire way, mostly ancient Nordic folk songs.

It was almost midnight when the bus arrived at Hohenzollernburg. After getting off the bus, everyone politely said goodnight to each other and returned to their dormitories. The three werewolf brothers took Si Ling and A Zhui into the tower. The ancient elevator led to the castle's cellar, and the wooden door at the end of the cellar corridor led directly to Lingbo Castle.

The three brothers were generous enough to take Si Ling to a barbecue restaurant. This restaurant was considered the best in Lingbo City, but the atmosphere wasn't elegant or high-end, but rather homely. As a result, many of the werewolf brothers' acquaintances came up to chat during the meal. When they saw Si Ling, they were all curious: "Oh, I've never seen an Eastern Ghost before! How old is she? Eight hundred years old? A thousand years old?"

——For most of Western civilization, a thousand years is a long time.

Si Ling could only brush it off and greet them in a friendly manner. The werewolves would then say, "You should probably be thankful you've never seen this. She got a triple kill in the first round of missions today—I don't know how she did it, and I don't really want to know!"

For more than two hours, everyone chatted happily. On their way back to the Ghost Academy, Si Ling and A Zhu walked hand in hand, and the three werewolf brothers were very lively, singing and dancing around them all the way. It was very lively and a little funny. Si Ling and A Zhu couldn't help laughing. As if encouraged, the three brothers transformed into their true forms and continued to sing and dance with furry fur.

"Awooo--" They howled with their heads held high in the rising elevator, their long cries covering up the ding-dong sound when the elevator stopped on the first floor.

When the elevator door opened, they were still immersed in their howling. Si Ling and A Zhui saw the figure outside the door and couldn't help but feel embarrassed for them. A Zhui silently pushed Orik, who was closest to them. Si Ling coughed and walked out of the elevator: "Good evening, Principal."

"..." The three big wolves fell silent in one second, and turned back into human form in the next second, walking out looking around in embarrassment.

"That sounds good... I'm glad you're getting along well with your new classmates." Lucifer nodded politely to them, then looked at Si Ling, "I have something to talk to you about China."

"Okay." Si Ling nodded. The three brothers, so embarrassed that they dug their claws into their shoes to find the three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment, immediately said, "Then we'll go back to the dormitory first. Good night, see you tomorrow!"

Then, without waiting for her or Lucifer's response, he transformed into a wolf again and flew away.

Ah Zhui said tactfully, "I'm going back too. Good night."

"Good night." Lucifer and Si Ling said one after another.

Lucifer didn't rush to do anything. He patiently watched the three brothers and Ah Zhui walk away. After the four of them left the tower, he extended his hand to the elevator and said, "Please follow me."

Si Ling nodded and returned to the elevator. Lucifer followed him in, took out a key and inserted it into the elevator.

The lowest level of this elevator is B1, the cellar leading to Limboul. But when Lucifer turned the key, another button appeared below B1. There were no letters or numbers on the button, but a simple line drawing of a bird with a crest on its head and feathers on its wings that reached the ground.

Si Ling guessed that it should be a peacock, because the peacock is one of the symbols of Lucifer.

Then, she quickly realized that although the button was just below B1, its location was definitely not the normal distance between B1 and B2, because the elevator had been running for a while and was at least as deep as B5 or B4.

"Ding Dong--" The elevator finally stopped. Lucifer opened the metal door, and the metal door made that rough sound again as it rubbed against the track. At the same time, a cold breath rushed in, making Si Ling feel uncomfortable all over.

She looked up and saw a stone corridor outside the elevator. Since there was no light outside the elevator, she could only see three or four meters away. Beyond that, there was only endless darkness.

She didn't like this place and even wanted to turn around and leave immediately. This emotion was very rare for a thousand-year-old evil spirit like her.

Fortunately, Lucifer quickly waved his hand and cast a spell, and the torches embedded in the stone walls lit up, completely illuminating the corridor.

In fact, this corridor is only about ten meters long. At the end is a double-leaf stone door that opens and closes from the middle. With the gap between the doors as the center, there is a bat hanging upside down with its wings folded. The bat is also a symbol of Lucifer②.

Lucifer was the first to walk out of the elevator and towards the stone door. Si Ling followed him and soon noticed that there were pictures on the stone wall and even above his head. They were very ancient strokes that had completely lost their luster and the colors had become dull over the years.

At first, she didn't realize what these pictures meant. It wasn't until she saw a half-human, half-snake woman on the left wall, forming a simple human figure with her hands, and surrounded by a group of similar little figures, that she stopped in her tracks in astonishment: "Nuwa created humans?!"

Lucifer stopped and turned around. She pointed at the painting and said, "This is a legend from the Porcelain Country. How could it be..."

"It seems that my judgment is correct." Lucifer nodded with a faint smile and walked forward again.

Si Ling's doubts grew heavier, and the resistance that arose in her heart did not dissipate. The two emotions blended into a very strange feeling, making her want to turn around and leave, but at the same time she couldn't wait to see what was here.

Lucifer walked to the end of the corridor and casually pushed open the stone door engraved with an upside-down bat.

The copper lamps behind the stone gate lit up one by one, and Si Ling's eyes suddenly became clear.

... As far as her eyes could see was a vast cavern, not quite regular in shape, but essentially circular. Si Ling noticed that the cavern was also covered in murals, even on the floor. Near her feet, she saw a painting of Pangu creating the universe. The painting showed Pangu from behind, with long hair that didn't suit the typical image, but the classic stone axe in his hand confirmed his identity.

Si Ling couldn't help but pause, but Lucifer didn't stop and walked towards the center of the cave.

Si Ling came to his senses and hurriedly chased a few steps, then noticed a heavy sword stuck diagonally in the ground in the middle of the cave.

It was a bronze sword, requiring two hands to lift. Ancient characters were engraved on the blade, though they were difficult to make out in the dim light.

Lucifer stopped when he was two meters away from the sword. Si Ling wanted to get closer to see what was written on the sword, but he was stopped by him.

"Wait a moment," he said.

Si Ling stopped and looked at Lucifer, confused. Lucifer stared at the sword and said, "It should be soon."

Almost as soon as he finished speaking, terrifying roars rang out all around!

The voice seemed to come from hell, shaking the entire cave with inexplicable pain and resentment. Si Ling suddenly remembered the story Ah Zhu had told her in the elevator, and her pupils shrank suddenly: "Is it that campus legend?!"

Lucifer nodded silently, his eyes still fixed on the bronze heavy sword.

The painful roar lasted for more than ten seconds, and black smoke began to fill the cave. The black smoke was in wisps, and after condensing, it quickly gathered towards the bronze heavy sword and soon condensed into a human shape.

【Notes】

① The name "Limbo" is my creation, based on Limbo in Dante's Divine Comedy. It's a section of Hell where those who didn't do evil in life but didn't believe in God go after death. I wanted it to feel more like a city, so I changed it to Limbo.

② [Bats are also a symbol of Lucifer] There are three symbols of Lucifer: the lion, the peacock, and the bat.
