Chapter 9: The Family That Deals with All the Evildoers (3) The Seven Deadly Sins...
Elizabeth screamed and chased to the stairs, stretching out her pale and skinny hands to catch the person running last, but was broken free, and could only return to the room in disappointment.
This has been the mission rule of the Ghost Academy - unless everyone agrees to act together before the mission begins, everyone can only move within the scope of their own choice, so as to avoid vicious competition to the greatest extent.
The four brothers suddenly lost their strength the moment they confirmed that Elizabeth was no longer chasing them. They fell to the ground, gasping for breath in panic.
The second oldest, Matthias, was completely drenched in sweat. He stared at the empty staircase and asked, "What the hell is going on? Is this a haunted house?!"
"That looks like a zombie?" John said. He frowned and walked downstairs. "There are guns downstairs. I'm going to kill her!"
"Let's... call the police first!" Matthias swallowed and walked towards the nearby room. "I'll go get my phone."
The remaining two people also calmed down a little during their conversation. They looked at each other and felt that only one person was needed to call the police. "Hunting zombies" was obviously more difficult, so they went downstairs with John to get the hunting rifle.
Matthias returned to his room.
His cell phone was charging on the bedside table. Matthias sat down on the bed and picked up the phone. He was hesitating whether to dial 110 or 112① when the phone suddenly vibrated and the screen showed that the caller was an "unknown number."
Matthias was not too stupid. After a brief breath, he decisively pressed the hang-up button, and the screen immediately jumped back to the main interface of the phone.
but--
In 2025, the ghosts have also kept up with the times. The ringing sound had no intention of luring Matthias to answer the phone and triggering the ghosts. In fact, even if Matthias answered the phone, there would only be a busy tone on the other end.
The ringing was just to attract Matthias's attention and delay him from calling the police.
Matthias took two breaths and started dialing again. Suddenly, he heard a rustling sound behind him. He turned around in surprise. In the dim light before the lights were turned on, a group of bats flapped their wings and flew towards him.
"Ah!" Matthias jumped up from the bed, first scrambling to save his head, then waving his hands vigorously to drive it away. When he looked again, he found that a round white light like a moon was projected on the wall beside him for no reason. The white light reflected the silhouette of a man in a suit. The man had sharp edges and corners, and exuded a cold... handsomeness.

"What the..." Matthias had only blurted out half of his words when the scene around him suddenly changed. The light suddenly brightened without warning, and the room became several times larger, turning into a scene of a classical European ball.
He was on the dance floor, surrounded by dancing nobles.
Matthias stood there, bewildered, looking around. Suddenly, he caught a whiff of a captivating sweet aroma. Turning, he saw a waiter carefully pouring red wine into a tower of tall glasses not far away. Matthias stared for a few seconds, stunned. Not only was the aroma alluring, but even the translucent, dark red color was intoxicating. He walked towards the tower of wine. The phone, gently gripped in his hand, was yanked by the charging cable and dropped to the ground with a not-so-quiet thud, but he was oblivious.
At the same time, the remaining three brothers had already grabbed their hunting rifles on the first floor and mustered up the courage to return to the third floor.
From the living room to the stairwell and then to the corridor, they turned on the lights at every switch they passed. The light brought a good courageous effect. When they stepped on the last step of the third floor, the three of them were no longer trembling. They were confident that they would kill the terrible creature and avenge their dead brother.
The master bedroom door closed again, and the three of them simultaneously recalled the terrifying scene they had just encountered, and their footsteps became almost inaudible. However, as their boots stepped over the aging wood floor, the weight of their bodies still made it creak softly. In the complete silence, the sound was so terrifying that the three of them quickly stopped and waited until the sound completely dissipated before continuing.
It was only five meters from the stairs to the master bedroom door, but it took them several minutes to walk.
When they finally arrived at the door, the fourth brother Julian held the door handle and looked at John.
John raised his shotgun and pointed it at the crack in the door. He loaded the bullet with a click, held his breath, and prepared to shoot the zombie in the head the moment Julian opened the door.
"Click—" Julian slowly turned the doorknob. Everyone's breathing stopped. The blood-stained face appeared in their minds, and they also imagined the face jumping out of Stefan's body with fangs and claws and pouncing towards them.
After a few seconds, the door opened completely.
Julian let go of the door handle and John lowered his gun.
There was nothing in the room.
The warm yellow light was quietly on. There was no zombie in a wedding dress in the room, nor was there Stefan's body. The ground was clean, as if everything that had just happened was just an illusion.
For a moment, the three brothers began to doubt themselves. They stared at each other in silence for two seconds, and John raised his gun again: "Let's go in and take a look."
.
…In the attic directly above them, Elizabeth stared expressionlessly at the three people in the master bedroom through the one-way mirror at her feet. Beside her, the three werewolf brothers were raging with impotence.
They chose the attic because it often appears in ghost stories and is a classic haunted place.
But it’s another matter if the target doesn’t even come to the attic.
To make matters worse, the target was armed with a shotgun.
"Physical monsters" like them can be injured, and serious injuries can even lead to death; although the Corpse Bride Elizabeth is theoretically a "dead person", it is not wise to confront the gun head-on - just like the settings in many movies and TV shows, if she is shot in the head or shattered, everything will be over.
——After all, no one has ever seen body parts running after people, right?
So for the sake of wisdom, they all hid in the attic.
Fenric, the werewolf leader, regretted his decision: "If we had known earlier, the four of us would have just worked together and attacked them the first time they came up the stairs. They didn't have shotguns at the time, so our chances of winning would have been much higher!"
"Yes!" Ulric, the second oldest, gritted his teeth, "We shouldn't have given them a chance to escape!"
Elizabeth was in a better mood than they were.
This mission had five targets, but with nine people on board, it was inevitable that some would return empty-handed. She had successfully taken down one of them, which was already a good achievement.
Second floor.
Matthias picked up a glass of wine from the red wine tower with a blank look in his eyes and took a sip unconsciously. The sweet aroma of the wine filled his nostrils, and the faint fishy smell mixed in the aroma had dissipated before he noticed it.
Matthias, as if possessed by some unknown force, brought the glass to his lips and took another sip.
This is not Mammon's prop, but the finest aged wine in the Utherian family's wine cellar.
In the ancient times when technology was not well developed and the system was relatively chaotic, the Utherian family used it to lure many prey.
But it actually has something to do with Mammon, because the Utherian family once prayed to Satan when brewing wine, asking Satan to inject the nuclei of the seven deadly sins into the wine, and greed represented by Mammon is one of them.
The seven deadly sins are an ever-present nemesis of human nature, and only the noblest of souls are immune. Therefore, when people drink this red wine, at least one or two weaknesses will be aroused.
Matthias took his third sip of wine when a voice came from behind him: "Matthias, is that you?"
He turned around in a daze, and behind him was a blonde woman in a light blue dress.
"Sabina?" Matthias immediately said her name, his eyes full of surprise.
This was the classmate he had a crush on in middle school. She was beautiful and outstanding. Everyone knew that he liked her, and they got along well for a while.
Then, when did the turning point come? It was on the eve of the senior prom.
He was going to be her dance partner, but she accidentally saw the photos and videos of the children on his computer. She angrily accused him of being perverted and disgusting. He tried to explain that he was just watching and didn't hurt anyone, but she pointed at the computer and roared, "Have you ever thought about the circumstances under which these children were filmed? How dare you say you didn't hurt anyone!"
Then she slammed the door and left. At the senior prom, she got a new date, and he never saw her again after graduation.
Now, she has reappeared.
Matthias was overjoyed, and what made him even happier was that Sabina took the initiative to hold his hand: "Matthias, I have always missed you." She pulled him out of the dance floor with light steps, and he followed her with a dazed mind.
So he was completely unaware that he had walked onto the balcony outside his bedroom.
Sabina stopped in front of the balcony railing. In Matthias's eyes, the vast banquet hall was still in front of him.
Sabina pointed cheerfully to the nearby pastry counter. "Matthias, could you please get me a piece of cake? My skirt isn't very comfortable. After I finish my pastry, we'll go dancing." She suddenly leaned a few inches closer, her beautiful voice mingling with the sweet aroma that lingered around him. "The graduation dance."
Matthias's heart was pounding, and he agreed repeatedly: "Okay...Okay!" After that, he staggered towards the pastry table.
The moment he touched the balcony railing, "Sabina's" eyes suddenly turned cold. She reached out without thinking, and the scene in front of Matthias suddenly distorted and disappeared.
Before the severe pain hit him, he felt himself falling uncontrollably, but before he could see what was in front of him, he was hit hard.

"Ka--!" The barbecue grill under the balcony was smashed, and the grill iron and skewers pierced Matthias's body. The charcoal also rolled out and quickly ignited his clothes.

Serious injuries cause people to panic and their SAN values drop sharply.
"Ahhh, help me!!!" Matthias rolled on the ground trying to put out the fire despite the severe pain. On the courtyard wall not far away, the moon-like white light appeared again, and the man's graceful figure appeared in it again.
When Matthias finally extinguished the flames on his body and stopped them from rolling, the first thing that caught his eye was a pair of shiny new black leather shoes. Then he moved his eyes upwards and saw a traditional tuxedo.
Moving up further...
It was a handsome and noble face, like an elegant prince from a European fairy tale... except for two unignorable fangs.
"You...you..." Matthias' lips trembled violently, and he himself couldn't tell whether it was because of fear or the injuries on his body.
Behind Aymeric, the Nowhere Bats swarmed again, and this time they attacked Matthias like crazy, pulling at his torn clothes and singed hair.

"Go away! Go away!" Matthias struggled desperately, and the bats suddenly fled in all directions as if they understood, but before he could rejoice, the elegant vampire in front of him grabbed his collar and lifted him up effortlessly.
"You, you, you, you..." Matthias was so scared that he felt like he was poured with cement. His whole body was unable to move. He watched the man grinning with fangs bared and moving towards his neck.

"Squeak." He heard the soft sound of fangs piercing flesh, felt the pain which was not intense but very real, and even heard the sound of blood flowing into the other person's mouth...

"Matthias!!!" John rushed to the third-floor window and witnessed this scene. He immediately raised his gun and fired the gun.
"Bang!" The bullet pierced Aymeric's shoulder. Before he could fire a second shot, the vampire Willey jumped from the second-floor balcony, rushed into the window, and held John down.
