Chapter 35: A Stunning Stroke

Beijing, China Painting Association.

Li Jingchang rushed into the conference hall carrying a painting that was being protected to the extreme. Then, all the masters in the room were almost petrified.

Chairman Qi Baishi stroked his long white beard and gave a trembling comment.

"These shrimp are grouped together in severals, creating a wonderful composition with distinct layers. But if you look closely, you'll find that each shrimp has a different posture and shape."

"Although it doesn't look exactly like the shrimp, it captures the essence perfectly. It's both realistic and beautiful, a highly refined essence of the shrimp; it's hard to imagine that humans could achieve this level."

It exploded! The masters were very excited and grabbed Li Jingchang by the collar.

"Tell me quickly, which master painted this? I must see him tonight. With him, China will have a chance to compete for the championship in this global art competition."

Lin Xu, a renowned first-class artist in China, rudely pushed aside his group of old friends and said repeatedly.

"It's simply a miracle! These five tiny shrimp represent the level I've been pursuing my whole life."

The other masters nodded in agreement, after all, this shrimp painting was a masterpiece of craftsmanship and exquisite beauty.

Li Jingchang was once again shocked. He had never seen these old men so excited before. It seemed that he had underestimated the value of this shrimp painting.

Once again, he began to re-evaluate Chen Feng in his mind, thinking that Qing Ning was quite good at judging people, but Chen Feng seemed to be hiding a mysterious aura.

"What are you babbling about? I'm asking you, which master painted this?"

Chairman Qi Baishi slapped Li Jingchang on the head. Despite the Li family's enormous global influence, compared to this group of veteran artists, each with national-level special and first-class titles, he was just a junior running errands.

Many people think that artists such as national actors, artists, and musicians don't have much status, but that's not true. These people have the highest status.

"Master Qi, the person who painted this picture is not a master at all."

"What? Not a master? Or is he a highly skilled folk expert?"

The saying "Great masters often emerge from the common people" is no joke. Back in the day, Qi Baishi was looking for inspiration to paint in the mountains when he was taught a lesson by an old man who raised pigs in the mountains. It was after that incident that his painting skills improved dramatically.

Many people are impatient; if it really is a folk master, they must invite him over. This global art competition is a competition that the national leaders attach great importance to, as it concerns the status and level of China's art field in the world.

Currently, the world boasts renowned painters such as Da Vinci, Bi Jiasuo, Paul, Rheinther, and Gao Fan, among other top-tier artists. While China possesses some strength in realism, it is not particularly adept at sketching or oil painting.

They are under tremendous pressure for this global art competition. National leaders have high hopes for them and wish them to achieve a certain ranking.

Just when they were already overwhelmed with troubles, Xiao Li, whose drawing skills they had always criticized, actually opened the door for them and brought them warmth. This made them curse Li Jingchang even more and laugh all the time.

"Masters and seniors, don't be anxious, don't be anxious. This person, you may not believe it, is just a 25-year-old young man."

"What? A twenty-five-year-old can create works like this?"

"Are you making fun of us old folks for being useless, you brat?"

A group of old men from the National Painting Association stared at Li Jingchang with disbelief, their beards bristling and eyes wide.

"Old Qi, Old Lin, Old Yang, oh dear, gentlemen, please don't look at me like that, it's creepy."

Li Jingchang took two steps back, looking nervously at the group of old men in front of him.

"I'm telling the truth, this painting is from my home..."

He told the whole story in one go.

"Is everything you're saying true?"

"He really is only 25 years old."

"My God, could this be the reincarnation of the legendary Ma Liang?"

A group of old men were stunned.

Finally, Chairman Qi Baishi waved his hand and said domineeringly, "Which Little Li? Such a talent must be recruited into my painting association. We must use every means possible, do you understand?"

Li Jingchang said, "Chairman, painting is just a hobby for him. Chen Feng's main job is singing. He's running an entertainment company."

"What? Singing and starting a company?"

A group of old men immediately showed expressions of disappointment and frustration.

"What a waste! How can such artistic talent be reduced to a lowly actor? The entertainment industry is a cesspool that will corrupt people."

"No, we can't let such a talented person indulge in play; we must guide him onto the right path."

"Give me Chen Feng's contact information immediately; I want to go there in person."

The veteran artists were outraged. How could such a genius be wasted on singing? This was intolerable to them. They wanted nothing more than to drag Chen Feng, whom they had never met before, out and give him a good lesson.

When Li Jingchang heard that Fang Xi needed to be contacted, he was stunned. He had felt he had forgotten something important after seeing Chen Feng, and now he realized he hadn't left her contact information. Luckily, his precious daughter did.

"Wait a moment, let me call Qingning and ask."

He said it somewhat weakly, because he knew he was going to be bombarded with criticism.

"What? How can you be a vice president? You didn't even leave your contact information..."

"My God, I'm so angry! You need to call and get their contact information right now, I can't wait!"

And so, amidst the barrage of criticism from a group of old men, Li Jingchang finally got Chen Feng's phone number and immediately called him.

"Sorry, the number you dialed is currently switched off!"

? ? ?

"What's going on? Did they give me a fake number?"

Seeing that Li Jingchang was not doing a good job, the old men were ready to roll up their sleeves and beat him up.

"They're probably, maybe, asleep."

"What time is it and you're still sleeping? I don't care, I have to find this young man as soon as possible, otherwise I won't be able to sleep."

"Old Zhang is right, we must find this person for me as quickly as possible."

Chairman Qi Baishi spoke.

Thus, Li Jingchang, as the vice president, was driven out by a group of old men and flew back to Chengdu-Chongqing City overnight.

Just as he was about to head straight to Chen Feng's residence, a phone call made him turn back and continue walking towards the airport. He had to fly to North America because the old man was coming back and had specifically asked him to go there and fly back with him.

The old man was a veteran of countless battles and had seen all kinds of storms. He founded the vast family business and was once a powerful figure. Even after retiring, he still controls major industries around the world.

This time, the reason he was specifically asked to come over is probably not just to accompany him on a trip to China. Before going to the airport, he contacted a friend to send him a famous calligraphy work, which is currently ranked among the top ten calligraphy works in China and has a market value of 400 million.

The old man has only three hobbies in his life: sports and fitness, calligraphy, and reading novels. So even though he is over seventy years old now, he is very healthy. He once participated in the war and ordinary people can't beat him.
