Chapter 33: Studying on Weekends

Chapter 33: Studying on Weekends

Lu Yanhe asked, "Art exam? What does it test?"

"Directing or something," Li Pengfei said. "Anyway, my grades are so bad, I can only try anything. My dad even wants me to repeat a year. I'm speechless. I've studied for so many years and my grades are still like this. Do you really think repeating a year will make things better?"

Lu Yanhe was silent for a moment, then said, "That sounds quite reasonable."

"Right? That's what I told my dad too, and he yelled at me for half an hour." Li Pengfei sighed. "To be honest, who doesn't want good grades? It's not like I want to have bad grades. What can I do if I can't concentrate on studying? You know what I mean?"

Lu Yanhe: "You can't concentrate on your studies, yet you're so self-righteous."

"Do you think everyone is like you, saying they're going to study hard and then immediately starting to study?" Li Pengfei suddenly pulled his hands out again, put them behind his head, and said, "Learning is something that requires talent, and I don't have that talent."

"It's not appropriate for you to say something like that, is it?" Lu Yanhe complained.

"Why?"

"How hard do you have to work to say that this requires talent? Have you worked hard?" Lu Yanhe said bluntly.

Li Pengfei was at a loss for words.

Lu Yanhe's words hit him right where it hurt—he really hadn't tried that hard, but wasn't that just something he said casually? Why was Lu Yanhe taking it so seriously?

Li Pengfei wanted to complain.

However, when faced with someone like Lu Yanhe who genuinely surpassed him in just a few days through hard work, he really couldn't find any words to refute him.

"Wait a minute, let me ask you, which university are you planning to apply to?" Li Pengfei asked.

Lu Yanhe shrugged and said, "We'll see. We don't know what level we'll get in the end. It would be best if we could get into Zhenhua or Yuming."

"I...I really don't know what to say. You really dare to dream like that." Li Pengfei was shocked by Zhenhua and Yuming and was speechless for a moment. "No one else would dare to daydream like this, but, well, reality will teach you a lesson."

Lu Yanhe curled the corners of his mouth into a smile.

“But, Lu Yanhe, why did you suddenly start studying?” Li Pengfei asked.

After asking the question, he waved his hand.

“I didn’t mean it like Chu Saiying did. Although many people on the school forum are saying that you can’t make it in the entertainment industry, is that true? You used to rarely come to school, but now you suddenly show up every day, which everyone finds strange.”

Lu Yanhe nodded, making no attempt to hide anything.

That's pretty much the reason.

"Damn." Li Pengfei was shocked by Lu Yanhe's honesty. "You actually admitted it. I thought what you said to me last time was just something you said in anger."

Although Lu Yanhe didn't know why Li Pengfei kept following him around asking questions, Lu Yanhe didn't dislike Li Pengfei that much.

This bet also made Lu Yanhe realize that Li Pengfei was actually quite a man of his word, and didn't get angry and try to renege on his debt after losing.

Actually, Li Pengfei got along well with everyone in the class. Aside from being a bit lazy and incompetent, his troublemaking was mostly his own and didn't affect anyone else much.

When Chu Saiying returned from the restroom, she was still surrounded by a group of people, just like a celebrity encountering her fans.

Seeing this, Li Pengfei suddenly teased, "When you go out, are your fans this enthusiastic towards you?"

Lu Yanhe: "...It's been a long time since I've been recognized so enthusiastically by fans."

Li Pengfei's lips twitched: "Is it that bad?"

"Um."

"Tsk, it's not easy to make a living in the entertainment industry." Li Pengfei glanced at Lu Yanhe's face. "I thought that as long as you had a pretty face like yours, you could just lie down and make money."

Lu Yanhe: "If you can't speak properly, then don't speak at all, you little black-faced guy."

To be fair, Li Pengfei wasn't that dark-skinned. It's just that he played basketball outside every day and got a tan, especially his face, which was several shades darker than the average person. Standing next to Lu Yanhe, he looked even darker in comparison.

"Who are you calling 'Little Black Face'?" Li Pengfei was indeed furious, his eyes filled with hostility.

"Then who are you calling a pretty boy?" Lu Yanhe immediately retorted.

Li Pengfei was momentarily speechless.

Okay, he started it by criticizing first, which immediately made him lose the confidence to continue picking fights.

Just then, the school bell rang.

The lively atmosphere in the classroom caused by Chu Saiying's sudden return finally came to a temporary end.

-

In the afternoon, after school, Lu Yanhe packed his schoolbag and was about to leave when Lin Yu suddenly came over and said, "We're planning to come to school to study this weekend. Do you want to come with us? We can discuss any questions you may have."

Lu Yanhe was somewhat surprised upon hearing this and said, "Self-study on the weekend?"

“Yes.” Lin Yu nodded. “Studying together creates a better learning atmosphere.”

Lu Yanhe hesitated and frowned.

For Lu Yanhe, the issue of not being self-disciplined when he is alone at home is not actually a problem.

Studying with Lin Yu and the others has its advantages; at least there are some questions he doesn't understand that he can actually discuss with Lin Yu and Chen Qin.

"Okay." Lu Yanhe nodded after only a few seconds of hesitation.

Lin Yu laughed and said, "Okay, then I'll have my mom prepare everyone's meal."

"Hmm? That would be too much trouble for your mom. We can just order takeout or eat out."

"It's alright. My family runs a restaurant, so preparing meals for everyone is just something I do on the side."

Lin Yu went back and told Chen Qin, "He agreed."

Chen Qin, who had been anxiously awaiting news, immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Lin Yu asked in confusion, "You were always so impatient with Lu Yanhe before, why are you suddenly suggesting that we study together on the weekend?"

“It’s not like… you said, that we should repay him. He’s finally made progress, so studying together on weekends will keep us encouraging him to actually study. Otherwise, who knows if he’s even studying when he gets home?” Chen Qin immediately gave a plausible reason, making no mention of the bet he made with Li Pengfei. “Besides, I feel more comfortable studying in the classroom. Every weekend when I study at home, my parents act like I’m having surgery in my room. They’re afraid to make a sound or disturb me. Sigh, although I know they’re worried about interfering with my studies, the more they act like that, the more uncomfortable I feel.”

Lin Yu laughed.

"You don't want to affect your parents, right?"

“It’s all the same,” Chen Qin said. “Besides, doing problems at home doesn’t feel as good as doing them in the classroom.”

Linyu said, "Okay, then let's study at school every weekend from now on."

Chen Qin: "Will your parents agree?"

“No problem, I usually study at the library or a coffee shop on weekends anyway,” Lin Yu said.
