Chapter 4: My Roommates Are Arguing, I'm Just Watching.
Lu Yanhe opened the door and realized that the noise outside was Yan Liang and Li Zhibai arguing.
If Yan Liang is in the second tier of popularity among the Fengzhi group, then Li Zhibai is in the first tier.
The key point is that his family owns a company, he's well-off, and has money. When he was in the talent show, his family spent a lot of money on marketing for him. After his debut, he's been involved in all sorts of marketing, and he consistently trends on social media every month. He's a true money-driven celebrity in the entertainment industry.
These days, nine out of ten people who become entertainers come from well-off families.
Without a certain amount of capital, one cannot succeed in the entertainment industry of talent show contestants.
Or like Lu Yanhe, who got lucky—he was able to barely debut because his tragic upbringing attracted a wave of fans who sympathized with him and voted for him.
But after his debut, these fans gradually left. Ultimately, they weren't fans because they genuinely liked him as a person, and their feelings faded quickly.
Putting aside his financial power, Li Zhibai is actually a very charismatic person. In today's terms, he's very self-assured and true to himself. No matter the occasion or the show he's on, he doesn't hide his emotions, and many people like that. In addition, he's very confident, even to the point of being narcissistic, so while many people criticize him, there's also a group of people who really like him.
He is considered a very controversial person.
"It's not like I stopped you from going to the Supernova Games, why are you getting so angry with me?" Li Zhibai snapped at Yan Liang, clearly annoyed. "Go settle the score with Zhou Ping'an."
"Supernova Games" is a variety show produced by Tencent Video. It's a sports-themed program modeled after the Olympics, and it's become very popular. Every year, many young celebrities appear on the show.
Yan Liang is indeed a good fit; he is a fitness enthusiast with strong athletic ability.
For the past two years, the company has arranged for Yan Liang to take the job, and the plan is the same this year. Why is Yan Liang suddenly not allowed to go?
Lu Yanhe walked out of the room, puzzled.
The two people who were arguing noticed him coming out, glanced at him, and then looked away.
Lu Yanhe usually has a very low profile and rarely speaks.
Yan Liang glared at Li Zhibai and said, "If it weren't for you, I was supposed to be on the show, so how did it turn out to be you?"
Li Zhibai said irritably, "Go ask Zhou Ping'an! What do I know? Do you think I want to do this?"
Yan Liang got up and left in a huff.
Li Zhibai said with a stern face, "You're seriously mentally ill."
Lu Yanhe sat down at the coffee table and glanced at the wall clock; it was already noon.
Outside the window, the intense sunlight proclaimed that today was a bright, sunny day with no sign of rain.
He scratched his head, feeling a slight headache. However, it was Tuesday, and he had classes in the afternoon. According to the normal schedule, he should go to school.
Li Zhibai suddenly glanced at him.
"Yan He, where did you go last night? I looked for you but you weren't in your room."
Lu Yanhe snapped out of his daze and exclaimed "Ah!" Before he could speak, Li Zhibai impatiently continued.
“Wasn’t yesterday your birthday? I bought you a present. Here, it’s that.” Li Zhibai gestured to the box under the coffee table.
Lu Yanhe took it out.
Wow, it's the latest model phone.
Li Zhibai said with a look of disgust, "Your phone screen is practically cracked into a spider web. You should have replaced it a long time ago. I bought you a new one."
Lu Yanhe's eyes lit up as he thought of his old, broken cell phone.
"A timely help!"
"Huh?" Li Zhi looked at him, completely bewildered.
Lu Yanhe chuckled, "I fell into the river yesterday, and my old phone is ruined. I was just worrying about it."
Even if you asked him to buy a new phone now, he wouldn't have the money—his money is still in his old phone.
Li Zhibai sat up abruptly.
"Did you fall into the river?"
Lu Yanhe nodded.
"When did this happen? Damn, you didn't come home all night yesterday, just because of this?"
"Yes, it's terrible." Lu Yanhe took out his new phone with great interest, then took the SIM card out of his old phone and put it back in.
Li Zhibai watched Lu Yanhe excitedly turn on his new phone and said, "Wait, wait a minute. What if you fell into the river? What would happen then?"
"And then? Then I swam to shore by myself," Lu Yanhe said.
"Don't you not know how to swim?" Li Zhibai asked.
"I can't—" Lu Yanhe suddenly realized that, judging from the original owner's memories, he really couldn't swim.
"I was lucky; a piece of wood happened to float by, I grabbed it, and then I splashed all the way to the shore." He made up lies without hesitation.
But Li Zhi believed it.
He looked at Lu Yanhe in surprise and said, "You're quite lucky. If it weren't for that piece of wood, you wouldn't be..."
“Yes, without that piece of wood, I would have drowned.” Lu Yanhe’s mood suddenly became heavy. No, he would have already drowned.
Who pushed him into the river?
Lu Yanhe frowned hesitantly.
Even now, he doesn't really feel the truth of almost being murdered—because the person who died wasn't the real him.
But if he hadn't transmigrated, Lu Yanhe in this world would truly be dead.
Li Zhibai slapped Lu Yanhe on the back with a delighted smile and said, "Wow, Lu, luckily you managed to grab onto a piece of wood. Damn, you actually went through something so dangerous."
Lu Yanhe scratched his head, unsure of what to say next.
Li Zhibai is impulsive and has a bad temper. He was spoiled by his family since childhood and sometimes lacks common sense.
This is the original owner's impression of him.
Nevertheless, he was the person the original owner was most grateful to.
Because only this person remembers everyone's birthday every year and gives them gifts, and every gift he gives is exactly what Lu Yanhe needs.
Including this time's mobile phone.
He sighed and said, "Luckily, I managed to grab a piece of wood."
Li Zhibai said decisively, "Those who survive a great calamity are bound to have good fortune in the future. Come on, we're hungry, let's go out to eat."
Lu Yanhe shook his head: "I'm out of money."
Li Zhibai clicked his tongue.
"When have you ever gone out to eat with me and had to pay for it?" Li Zhibai waved his hand, "I'll treat you to a big meal."
Lu Yanhe: "..."
Passing by Yan Liang's room, I saw that his door was tightly closed.
Lu Yanhe thought that Li Zhibai would simply ignore Yan Liang and not pay any attention to him, since the two had just had a fight.
As he was thinking this, Li Zhibai had already walked to Yan Liang's door and knocked three times.
"Yan Liang, let's go eat."
"Go eat your own food!" Yan Liang said irritably through the door.
Li Zhibai immediately yelled, "Damn it, I told you that lousy show has nothing to do with me, how long are you going to keep nagging!"
Lu Yanhe thought to himself, with Li Zhibai's temper, he's probably going to get beaten up by Yan Liang.
Yan Liang's door was suddenly flung open.
He glared angrily at Li Zhibai.
Lu Yanhe: "..."
It looks like they're really about to take action.
Yan Liang glared at Li Zhibai: "Get out of the way! You're blocking my door, how am I supposed to get out!"
Li Zhibai yielded.
Yan Liang went to the door to change his shoes.
Lu Yanhe, who had watched the entire process, continued: "..."
That's true, all you do is get angry, but you don't actually do anything about it.
