Chapter 406 Walking in the Snow

Chapter 406 Walking in the Snow

Li Zhi was stunned when Lu Yanhe pointed this out so incisively.

Because he realized that Lu Yanhe was right after all.

If Zhou Ping'an came to him last night to tell him that he wouldn't be taking Ma Zhiyuan anymore, but would be taking him instead—

"That might be possible, but how could he possibly give up Ma Zhiyuan? Compared to me, he would certainly prefer to take Ma Zhiyuan with him."

Why do you think that?

“Ma Zhiyuan has no one else to rely on but him,” Li Zhibai said. “But at worst, I can just quit and have my parents step in. In his eyes, that’s probably the biggest difference between Ma Zhiyuan and me. He wants someone he can completely control.”

Lu Yanhe had never really thought about this before.

When Li Zhibai said it, Lu Yanhe actually found it quite reasonable.

That's absolutely right.

From Zhou Ping'an's perspective, even though Li Zhibai was an artist he personally mentored, his family background meant he had many options for the future.

Ma Zhiyuan had already fallen out with Lin Suyang before coming to him.

Ma Zhiyuan appears to be a highly popular idol star, but within the broader entertainment industry chain, he is essentially like a very popular and well-selling commodity. Although he is popular and a hot commodity in the eyes of businesses, he is still easily replaceable and remains in a position of being produced, sold, and liked.

Therefore, Ma Zhiyuan desperately needs an agent.

Just like Lu Yanhe after the college entrance examination.

Without Chen Ziyan protecting him and overseeing everything, he would have fallen into some trap long ago.

The same goes for Ma Zhiyuan. The more popular an artist is, the more people are watching them. But not everyone is watching with good intentions—

So why would Zhou Ping'an trust Ma Zhiyuan more than Li Zhibai? Because Ma Zhiyuan could only rely on him; he had no other way out.

Lu Yanhe and Li Zhibai quickly returned to the house and breathed a sigh of relief upon entering the heated area.

"It's really cold today."

"It should already be below zero."

"Luckily, I don't have to work today."

Why don't you have a job?

Why don't you ask yourself why you're not employed?

"I just finished filming, isn't it normal to take a couple of days off?"

"I just finished work last night, isn't it normal to take a break today?"

The two of them engaged in a very childish exchange of insults and then fell silent.

"I'm sorry about 'The Squid Game'," Li Zhibai said. "We had already agreed to let you act in this drama, but because you signed another contract, which is scheduled to start filming in March, the schedule clashed. There was nothing I could do; we can't film multiple projects at once."

Lu Yanhe nodded, "The filming of 'Squid Game' suddenly had to start ahead of schedule. There was nothing we could do about it. It was all an accident. We can just film it next time."

Li Zhi asked a hundred questions: "When will you cast me in your next film?"

"Let me rest for a while and come back from my overseas vacation with Siqi before we talk about it," Lu Yanhe said. "We'll see if we shoot the movie first or the TV series first. Anyway, I've already thought about what story to write."

Li Zhi asked a hundred questions: "Were all the three of us acting?"

“Yes.” Lu Yanhe nodded. “It was all the three of us acting together.”

Li Zhi was all smiles.

"This is good."

Lu Yanhe asked, "What kind of drama did you take on in March?"

“A fantasy love story, ‘Moonlight Symphony’,” Li Zhibai said. “Zhou Ping’an got this role for me. If the contract hadn’t been signed, I wouldn’t have bothered to act in it.”

"To be fair, Zhou Ping'an has a good eye for choosing roles for you. Look, every role you play becomes a hit."

"His criteria for choosing roles is that he'll choose whichever role he plays that will make him famous. How could he not become famous?"

"Listen to the nonsense you're spouting! Who doesn't choose roles based on their chances of becoming a hit?" Lu Yanhe looked at Li Zhibai speechlessly. "He's just very opportunistic and greedy, but he still has a good eye. You need to seriously analyze his criteria for choosing roles for you. Whether you can still have a hit series when he stops choosing roles for you depends on yourself."

“I changed my agent, not that I lost my agent. Lin Suyang will take care of these things,” Li Zhibai said.

“Lin Suyang doesn’t know you that well, at least not for the first year or two. You can’t rely on him completely,” Lu Yanhe said. “You’d better pay more attention to yourself.”

“I don’t need to take on any new roles for the next year or two, my schedule is already full,” Li Zhibai said. “I filmed ‘Moonlight Symphony’ in the first half of the year, and Liu Bige’s movie in the second half. In addition, I also have to record ‘Idol Era’ and ‘The Days of Youth’, as well as the play you wrote for us. My schedule is already full.”

Lu Yanhe agreed.

Speaking of which, Li Zhibai has had no shortage of acting opportunities in the past year or two.

-

When Chen Siqi returned to Yuming this time, she booked a hotel for a whole month, too lazy to go back to her original place.

This also makes it easier for Lu Yanhe to go find her.

They don't spend much time together normally, but whenever they have the chance, they try to spend as much time together as possible.

At noon, Li Zhibai drove Lu Yanhe to the hotel, had lunch with them at the hotel restaurant, and then went back home first.

Lu Yanhe and Chen Siqi were going out together to meet someone.

Both of them now have driver's licenses and can drive.

Lu Yanhe hadn't had time to buy a car yet; he only got his driver's license while filming "The Road to Glory".

Chen Siqi's car was parked in Jiang Guang's area. After returning to Yuming, Chen Siqi borrowed a car from her friend.

Lu Yanhe was quite surprised and asked which friend was so generous as to lend him money for a month.

Chen Siqi said, "His family is even richer than mine. His 18th birthday present was a Porsche. He has seven or eight cars parked in the garage all year round. Lending one to me doesn't affect him at all."

Lu Yanhe and Chen Siqi have known each other for so long, yet he still doesn't know that Chen Siqi has such a friend.

“I’m not that close to him; we barely see each other once a year,” Chen Siqi said. “That’s why I didn’t think to introduce you to him. The reason I know him is because… do you remember Li Lin?”

"Is that the guy who also studied at No. 13 Middle School, and who made fun of you at your birthday party?"

"You still remember?" Chen Siqi said, somewhat surprised.

Lu Yanhe said, "The scene that day left such a deep impression on me that I can't forget it even if I want to."

Chen Siqi smiled.

“I should be the one saying that,” she said.

Lu Yanhe asked, "What's wrong with her?"

“The friend who lent me my car is Li Lin’s ex-boyfriend,” Chen Siqi said. “Because we both disliked Li Lin, we hit it off at a dinner party organized by my dad.”

Lu Yanhe: "...Is this how you use the phrase 'love at first sight'?"

“It’s about having people you both dislike,” Chen Siqi said. “That’s the biggest foundation for two people to become good friends.”

That statement isn't entirely without merit.

"How did he know you suddenly needed a car?"

“That day, I posted on my WeChat Moments that I’ve gotten used to driving myself everywhere since I started driving myself, and then I asked Hui Yuming if he wanted to rent a car. He contacted me and said he could lend me a car,” Chen Siqi said. “When I got to the hotel, I left the car keys at the front desk and parked the car in the hotel parking lot.”

Lu Yanhe was somewhat surprised and asked, "Does this person... have feelings for you?"

"Probably not." Chen Siqi herself was a little unsure. "Mainly because I'm really not familiar with him. We've only met twice, and we barely chat once a year. We just interact on social media and like each other's posts. If he's interested in me, wouldn't he be more proactive?"

Lu Yanhe: "Would it be considered taking the initiative to lend you my car?"

Chen Siqi: "Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit like that?"

Chen Siqi's frank statement made Lu Yanhe feel somewhat embarrassed to continue being jealous.

Chen Siqi smiled at Lu Yanhe and said, "Don't worry, he's not interested in me. He has a white moonlight in him, and he's always liked her."

"Um?"

"Don't be jealous," Chen Siqi said with a smile.

"..." Lu Yanhe then realized that Chen Siqi's words just now were all "cooperating" with his performance.

Chen Siqi reached out and took Lu Yanhe's hand. "Of course, I'm happy to see you jealous."

Lu Yanhe glanced at her sideways. "You've been waiting here all along, haven't you? Did you deliberately say it to make me jealous?"

Chen Siqi: "You've gotten a little smarter."

Lu Yanhe: "Hehe."

-

Once in the car, the two finally got to talk about the important business they needed to take care of that afternoon.

"Who are you going to see this afternoon?" Lu Yanhe asked.

Chen Siqi had arranged all the visits, and Lu Yanhe neither knew who he was to visit nor what the purpose of asking Chen Siqi to visit them was.

Anyway, since Chen Siqi became the editor-in-chief of "Jump Up", she often has to visit some people.

"We're going to visit two professors this afternoon, one of whom is your teacher, Zhao Dezhong," Chen Siqi said. "You know him, right?"

“Professor Zhao? I know him, but we had some misunderstandings before, but thankfully we cleared things up.” Lu Yanhe didn’t expect that Zhao Dezhong was among the people Chen Siqi was going to visit this afternoon.

This surprised him somewhat.

Chen Siqi: "You mean the thing about pursuing graduate studies?"

"Yes, that's right." Lu Yanhe nodded.

Chen Siqi: "How is Teacher Zhao Dezhong?"

“Well, he’s usually quite serious, and not the kind of teacher that everyone likes,” Lu Yanhe said. “I’m still a little confused about how you found him. He’s not a very popular teacher in the college.”

Chen Siqi: "Professor Shi Xia and I were chatting once, and she mentioned Professor Zhao. Professor Shi Xia knew Professor Zhao and said that Professor Zhao was a very knowledgeable person. What was most impressive about him was that his scholarship was not difficult to understand; in fact, he was a very good storyteller. They often ate together, and at the dinner table, Professor Zhao would often tell everyone stories from ancient books and ancient texts, as well as some well-known stories, and what unknown details and secrets were hidden behind them. As soon as I heard this, I felt that this was the kind of person our newspaper should seek out to write articles for us, so that they could write the articles we wanted."

Lu Yanhe suddenly realized that Chen Siqi was concerned about the newspaper.

"Did you ultimately decide to start a newspaper?" Lu Yanhe asked.

Chen Siqi nodded and said, "Yes, but we plan to take a boutique approach. We won't make the traditional kind of newspaper with ordinary and rough paper, nor will we make a daily publication. Instead, we'll make a weekly newspaper, and it won't be a large-format newspaper. Instead, we'll make it into a booklet format, which is more suitable for office workers and students to read. Each issue will be about twenty pages long."

Lu Yanhe was puzzled when he heard this: "This sounds like another version of 'Jump Up'."

“Jump Up” is thicker and more like a book. “I want to make this newspaper a portable reading material that everyone can hold in their hands. You can take it out and read it anytime, whether you are on the subway, in line, or waiting for someone. So my idea is to make it the size of a normal book, about twenty pages, and use better paper so that it doesn’t feel cheap.”

"In that case, would one yuan per phase be enough to cover it?"

"I originally planned to publish it for one yuan per issue, in the traditional newspaper format, but now the format has changed, and it may not be possible to publish it for one yuan, because my goal is to increase its circulation, so I definitely need to bring down the price. I have made a preliminary estimate, and it may be set at three yuan per issue."

Lu Yanhe said, "Do you expect it to make money?"

“Well… it might be difficult to make money in the early stages,” Chen Siqi said. “We all feel that this kind of book is quite different from ‘Jump Up’; it needs time to develop.”

“I think it’s really hard to succeed if we do it this way,” Lu Yanhe said. “If ‘Jump Up’ were to follow the old magazine distribution model, there would be many models that could be used directly. But this is like creating something completely new. It’s a three-yuan publication with a very low profit margin. Online sales are basically out of the question because shipping and labor costs are hard to cover. With such a low profit margin, are you confident that you can wait until it takes off among readers? Our team is already so short-staffed.”

Chen Siqi was taken aback.

Because what Lu Yanhe said actually made a lot of sense, and he pointed out the problem incisively.

The current discussions surrounding this newspaper, including those surrounding it, all indicate that it is unlikely to be profitable in the short term.

How long can they persist with something that doesn't generate profit?

Lu Yanhe said, "I have been in the film and television industry for more than three years and I have a very deep understanding that whether it is a commercial film or an art film, some projects may not be aimed at making box office money or making a lot of money, but absolutely no project is prepared to lose money. No matter how idealistic a filmmaker is, he will not make a film knowing that a project will lose money."

“At first, I found this a bit strange, because in my impression, there are some idealists in the film industry who are not bound by fame and fortune. But even they still consider the production cost, how much money they can make in the end, and whether they can at least break even,” Lu Yanhe said. “To be honest, at first I was a little disappointed. I felt that they were not the creators I had in mind who regarded fame and fortune as dirt. But later I gradually understood them. Because film is not a one-person creation, it is not something you are solely responsible for. If you are making this with your own money, purely for your ideals and interests, then you can do whatever you want. But if you are also bringing in investment from others, and you have a group of people helping you to do this, you will more or less not want to let others down. It is difficult for you to be completely indifferent to others, especially to let others sacrifice for your single-minded pursuit of art.”

Chen Siqi fell silent.

"I think the same applies to this newspaper. You initially said you wanted to create a publication with cultural depth, which I think is a great concept, and I agree that you're absolutely right. In this age of ubiquitous e-reading, a large segment of the population has a spiritual need to return to serious reading, even if it's just a self-deceptive psychological need," Lu Yanhe said. "However, if we create something in the wrong format, it might not even reach these people. How can we ensure its survival, make it last long enough for it to have a chance to be seen by more of its potential readers? I'm also thinking about this question. Making a three-yuan copy..." Even if you can sell 300,000 copies of a single issue of our publication, "Jump Up," that's our highest single-issue sales record. After deducting all the costs, how much profit can you make? It's not that we absolutely have to make a certain amount of money, but we're not just making this publication, nor are we just making "Jump Up." There are only so many people, but the workload keeps increasing, so everyone inevitably has to make choices. We are the editors-in-chief, and we want to make this publication. Everyone won't say anything; they'll definitely support us and work with us. But as we continue with each issue, in the end, there's no profit or dividends. Everyone is doing this purely out of passion and enthusiasm. How many people can truly persevere until it reaches a circulation of 700,000 or 800,000, or even a million issues?"

"Or perhaps, in an era like this, it will never reach such a number," Lu Yanhe added.

Each word struck Chen Siqi's heart like a cannonball.

This bombardment stirred up a myriad of emotions within Chen Siqi.

Chen Siqi instinctively wanted to refute Lu Yanhe, but her rationality told her that if Lu Yanhe didn't really think it was a good idea, given his temperament, he definitely wouldn't have poured cold water on her at this time.

"So, you think I shouldn't be running this newspaper?"

“I think we should think more deeply about the format of this publication, at least to make it able to survive and thrive on its own,” Lu Yanhe said. “A weekly magazine, four issues a month, is already very stressful to produce. The demand for content, as well as editing, publishing, distribution, and so on, just thinking about the manpower and resources involved makes me feel pressured. I’m worried that this is not something we are capable of doing right now.”

Chen Siqi sighed deeply.

"What you said really upset me, but I also know you're right." She turned listlessly to look out the car window. "What should I do?"

Lu Yanhe glanced at Chen Siqi helplessly.

He knew, of course, that saying these words would be a huge blow to Chen Siqi.

Otherwise, he would have said those words long ago, instead of letting it drag on until now. He thought that his colleagues in the "Jump Up" editorial department would be able to discover many of the publication's practical difficulties during the discussion process. However, no one expected that their conclusion would be to turn it into a weekly magazine, a format that, in Lu Yanhe's mind, was more likely to fail than a daily newspaper.

Lu Yanhe said, "I still want to tell you seriously that I think the content and direction you want to do are perfectly OK, it's just a matter of form."

"Then how about making it into an e-book?"

“It’s just as difficult.” Lu Yanhe said helplessly, “Making a separate e-book for it would actually require a lot of costs.”

Chen Siqi: "If that's the case, then we can only cooperate with existing platforms."

Lu Yanhe could hear the displeasure and dissatisfaction in Chen Siqi's tone.

However, he fully understands how Chen Siqi feels right now.

well.

Lu Yanhe said, "Siqi, perhaps we can start by including a supplement in each issue of 'Jump Up'."

"A supplementary booklet?" Chen Siqi frowned in confusion.

Lu Yanhe said, "It's the format you just mentioned, but it won't be published separately. Instead, it will be released alongside 'Jump Up.' We'll use it for six months (six issues) to see how people react to this supplement. At the same time, we can also collaborate with various channels to gauge the readership and reach of these articles. At least in these six months, we can effectively observe market feedback. If it's really good, we can then develop it into a separate publication. That's one approach. We can also use this supplement to cultivate a dedicated team for this publication, so we don't have to take up other people's time and energy. Whether it's published as a newspaper, another magazine, or some other format, it's all fine."

"Wouldn't that mean we'd be doing this at a complete loss? At least three yuan per episode would cover the production cost."

“Since it’s a supplement, its production standards don’t need to be so high at first. Besides, the supplement will only have six issues, but if you start with a weekly publication, how much would we have to invest? The trial and error costs before and after are not even in the same league,” Lu Yanhe explained.

Chen Siqi pondered for a moment, then nodded; she was somewhat convinced.

That's true.

-

After they reached a consensus on this matter on the way, Lu Yanhe quietly breathed a sigh of relief because he noticed that Chen Siqi's mood was slowly improving.

This is one of the things Lu Yanhe likes about Chen Siqi: she has emotions and doesn't keep everything bottled up inside, but her emotions don't last long; they come and go quickly.

Their first visit was to Associate Professor Zhou Shuyu.

Qiu Ling's boyfriend.

Associate Professor Zhou Shuyu is now a well-known influencer online.

This is mainly because he participated in the recording of several episodes of "City Travelogue," where he introduced local historical stories and cultural landscapes to the audience. His gentle and refined demeanor, as well as his knowledge, won him many fans.

Because of the fame he gained from the show, he began to receive invitations from other program teams and appeared on various programs from time to time.

Chen Siqi approached Zhou Shuyu because she wanted him to write a history-related column for everyone.

"This is not a popular science book, nor is it an academic book. To some extent, I personally see it as a book in which scholars or experts in each relevant field explore and introduce relatively obscure but worthwhile things in their respective fields from a universal perspective."

This is how Chen Siqi and Zhou Shuyu introduced the book.

"Therefore, the authors we invited for this book are not literary or fictional creators, but experts and scholars from various fields, including senior professionals."

"For example, I want to write about things related to the identity and profession of a magazine editor, such as cooperation with publishers, negotiations with advertisers, and working with authors. From our perspective, we want to find story content that we can share with everyone from professional content, while from the reader's perspective, we want to see the professional side of this field that is not usually known to the public through story content."

Zhou Shuyu suddenly realized.

He looked at Chen Siqi and Lu Yanhe with some surprise and said, "You two actually came up with the idea of making a new book. That's really amazing."

Lu Yanhe immediately shook his head and said, "This is not my idea. It's all Chen Siqi's idea. I think it's great. Especially when Siqi told me why she wanted to go in this direction, she said that it's because this is an era with an increasingly fast pace of life. Everyone says that the development of the Internet and smartphones has made people abandon long-term, in-depth reading of text. But in reality, how many people are suffering from these fragmented, headline-style information on the Internet and can't find content that can truly bring them spiritual satisfaction?"

Zhou Shuyu nodded, "Indeed, it's not easy for you to discover this. I often receive messages from many people asking me to compile book lists and recommend books for them, but sometimes the book lists I recommend are quite difficult to get into and have a high threshold. It's really remarkable that you are willing to make such a book."

"So Professor Zhou, you've agreed to help us write articles for this column?" Chen Siqi immediately asked with a smile.

Zhou Shuyu said with a smile, "Anyway, it's just six issues for now, each issue is about two or three thousand words. I'll give it a try. I've always wanted to do this, to let more people like history and understand history. With such a great team like yours making such a publication, I feel it's my responsibility to support you."

Zhou Shuyu's straightforwardness relieved both Lu Yanhe and Chen Siqi.

“Then we’ll discuss the topic again later,” Chen Siqi said. “We’ll find a topic that will pique people’s interest and make them want to read it as soon as they see the title. Since we’re just starting out, we need to get more readers to start reading our book first.”

"Okay, I'll think about it myself and see what's worth writing about. Once I've thought it through, I'll send it to you guys and we can discuss it further."

"Thank you, Professor Zhou!"

-

After leaving Zhou Shuyu's place, Chen Siqi gave a soft "Yay!" because the trip had gone much more smoothly than she had imagined.

Lu Yanhe and Chen Siqi walked together toward the car parked in front.

The snow had stopped sometime earlier, but everything around was a white expanse. The bushes were covered in snow, and the snow on the ground was so thick that even pedestrians couldn't step on it. It was mixed with mud, forming a minefield that made all shoes tremble with fear.

Lu Yanhe said, "Besides history and literature, which other fields would you like to invite scholars and experts from?"

"Economics, law, and philosophy," Chen Siqi said. "These are the ones we absolutely need right now; as for the others, it depends on what kind of people we can find."

The categories that Chen Siqi mentioned are all mainstream categories in the humanities and social sciences.

These fields are indeed prone to producing outstanding individuals.

The humanities and social sciences are like this: they may not have a direct and obvious impact on the specific productivity of society, but their content is closely related to everyone. Once they form universal content, they are very easy to spread widely throughout society.

Because it is a discipline that originates from human society.

Science and engineering are disciplines derived from nature and society; they are objective and cannot be changed by human will.

The humanities and social sciences are entirely the opposite; they are not products of nature, but products of the reproduction of human society.

Therefore, it's fair to say that the historical stories and cultural backgrounds Zhou Shuyu recounts in "City Travelogue" are not particularly useful, but many people still listen to them and enjoy them.

Following the navigation, they drove to Professor Zhao Dezhong's home.

Professor Zhao Dezhong does not live in a modern residential area, but in an old-fashioned building in a hutong (traditional alleyway).

"Did Teacher Shi Xia give you this address?"

"How could that be? It was Professor Shi Xia who put in a good word for me. Then I called Professor Zhao and made an appointment to visit him this afternoon. He gave me the address."

After parking the car, Chen Siqi took out the other box of walnuts from the trunk and handed it to Lu Yanhe to carry. She then took the latest issue of "Jump Up" and went to find the address.

One of the biggest characteristics of older residential communities is that the relationships between neighbors are relatively close and they know each other.

When they arrived at Professor Zhao Dezhong's building, they encountered an old lady.

Seeing that they were unfamiliar faces and didn't live there, the old lady took the initiative to ask, "Who are you looking for?"

“We’re looking for Professor Zhao Dezhong,” Chen Siqi said. “We’ve already made an appointment with him.”

"Oh, so you're the ones who came to see him." The old lady seemed to have known they would come all along, which surprised them, leaving them puzzled.

The old lady said, "He was playing cards at my house half an hour ago, and then he said someone was coming to see him. He made an appointment and hurriedly went back, which made us very unhappy. Why didn't he say so earlier? If he had said he had an appointment in the afternoon, we wouldn't have invited him to play cards. We hate people who leave halfway through a card game. It's so hard to find someone to join you at the last minute."

The old lady was very dissatisfied and kept complaining.

Lu Yanhe and Chen Siqi were dumbfounded.

"Sorry to disturb your card game," Chen Siqi said immediately. "We'll go upstairs first."

The old lady nodded. "Go ahead."

She watched them enter the building, clicked her tongue again, and sighed, "It's still better to be a teacher; there are always students coming to visit him."

Lu Yanhe and Chen Siqi exchanged a smile.

However, when the two of them arrived at Professor Zhao's door, they knocked three times, but no one answered.

Chen Siqi said, "I'll make a phone call."

She called Professor Zhao Dezhong.

"I didn't answer," Chen Siqi said.

Lu Yanhe frowned: "He should be at home. He doesn't play cards anymore, he just comes home. Why don't you try playing another card?"

Chen Siqi made another call.

Lu Yanhe pressed his ear against the door to listen.

He listened carefully and said, "There's a cell phone ringing inside the room."

“Professor Zhao should be at home,” Chen Siqi asked. “Could he be in the bathroom?”

Lu Yanhe knocked on the door again and called out twice, "Professor Zhao!"

There has still been no response.

Lu Yanhe frowned again. "Why is there no sound? Even if he's in the bathroom, he should have heard us knocking and calling him by now."

Chen Siqi's expression suddenly changed. "Could something have happened?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Yanhe immediately knocked on the door again.

At that moment, the neighbor across the hall opened their door and poked their head out.

"Are you looking for Professor Zhao?" asked a woman in her forties. "Eh? Are you Lu Yanhe?"

The woman in her forties looked surprised.

“Yes, I am Professor Zhao’s student,” Lu Yanhe said immediately. “We arranged to come and see him, but no one answered the door when we knocked. We called him just now, and there was a cell phone ringing inside, but he didn’t respond at all.”

The neighbor woman's expression immediately changed.

"Oh no!" she exclaimed immediately. "Professor Zhao has high blood pressure, could he have fainted?!"

Upon hearing this, Lu Yanhe looked at the tightly closed door in shock.

"Professor Zhao! Professor Zhao?!" The neighbor's woman pounded on the door, or rather, she was smashing it.

However, such commotion did not elicit any response from inside.

"We need to call the police right away!" The neighbor was so anxious that his face turned pale.

Lu Yanhe was completely stunned at this moment.

"Do you have a key?" Chen Siqi asked. "Does anyone have a spare key?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Chen Siqi saw Lu Yanhe suddenly take two steps back and kick the door.

The door here is an old-fashioned door, not a security door; otherwise, Lu Yanhe's leg would probably be ruined by that kick.

Nevertheless, it was a loud bang that echoed through the corridor.

"Bang!"
